I dropped my bike off and the gentleman was very courteous and nice. When I picked it up, it was a different gentleman, and he was just as nice and polite.
The whole experience went very smoothly and I would recommend this shop to others.

I am so happy to have an alternative in Syracuse to the Erie Blvd. bike shops. Mello Velo is funky little shop over the laundromat on Westcott Street. What distinguishes it from the other bike shops is that the people who work there take the time to talk to their custormers, and they know what they are talking about. Equally important, a big part of the business they do is with people who use bikes for transportation, rather than just for recreation. So they are well-equipped to help with bike commuting issues, weather issues, and cargo issues.

Even though we refer to our bikes as "beachrats," my husband and I love them ride the old things approximately 500 miles a season. My bike was pedal was becoming noisy and cranky, and I knew it would need servicing of some sort before we took off on our beach vacation in July. However, things came to a head when I was riding it in Onondaga Lake Park - the pedal mechanism started to become detached and move from side to side - not a safe situation. I walked the bike to the nearest parking lot, and my husband retrieved our car and bike rack. On his way, he ran into a friend who is used to seeing us ride together. When she heard that there was a problem, she recommended Mellovelo. We took the bike to them the next day. A week later, we picked it up. All the work we contracted for had been done and then some. Today, I took it out for the first time. Riding it was an absolute pleasure. I felt like I was riding a brand new bike - quiet, easy to pedal - smooth as silk. I couldn't be happier and kept saying so to my husband. His bike is now in their capable hands for a similar tuneup, and I'm sure he will be as thrilled with the improvement as I am.
