MATTHEW'S SALON SPA

I've gone there for over 20 years. great as usual. Sells great Aveda products, frequently at discount. People always remark on how good my hair looks after Matthew has cut it. My wife has been going there and getting her hair cut by Raisa. she likes her cuts.

The stylist did a good job and added toner so the color would blend better. I had to schedule for another appt. since I expected a cut when they did the color, most salons schedule both together or at least ask if you would like a cut at the same time since it saves a little money to have both done at the same time. The stylist didn't have time to do the cut (not her fault) so I had to schedule later on to come in for that, they did extend me the same price for the cut had it been done the day of the color.

The staff was extremely courteous, friendly and professional. I was extremely satisfied with the cut and color I received from my stylist. However, while the stylist was mixing my color, I looked around the salon from my chair and was grossed out by the amount of hair left on the floor from previous customers. The various color and length of the hair led me to believe that it wasn't from the customer immediately before me, but from shoddy cleaning. The baseboards were dirty and the floor had a number of stains on it. The work station itself (counter and mirror) were spotless, but seeing all the different clumps of hair on the floor was a definite turnoff. I was disappointed in this, considering this is supposed to be a high end Aveda salon. As a result, I was reluctant to schedule another appointment even though I thought the stylist performing my services was great.

The first time that you go, they give you a 20% discount. It was a real treat. I had a hand massage while I was waiting. I had a warm towel on my neck. They also had someone come in and do the color. They are very friendly and the shop is clean. There is no drama. It's a higher price than what I'm used to.

Wonderful - I have had a few changes in style and worked with Colleen to decide what would be the best way to do this. I cannot recommend her more highly.

This was my first time at this salon. I hadn't had my hair cut in quite some time, and I was ready not just for a trim but for a change. Additionally, I wanted to look my best for an upcoming professional event. Before the shampoo, before even picking up the scissors, the stylist, Robin, sat me down to assess the condition and characteristics of my hair and discuss what I wanted from my cut. I appreciated her careful consideration of both my hair type and my wishes. I mentioned that stylists always want to give me bobs and I don't like them, so she suggested an "inverted bob" as something that might be more to my taste but still suit the texture of my hair. Since her suggestion reflected both her own experience as a stylist and also my stated opinions, she gave me confidence in her judgment. Later on when she was finished cutting, I said that I'd hoped for a more dramatic change, and so she picked the scissors back up and trimmed more off the back. I appreciated both that she'd played it safe in her initial cutting as a response to my hesitance, and that later when I'd gained confidence she was willing to spend more time to give me exactly what I wanted. The final result was a very good cut, easy for me to style at home. I have always been difficult to please as regards my difficult-to-style hair, but I was very happy with the experience at Matthew's. I will definitely go back to the same stylist.

Great experience. Tara was a good listener, took the appointment on time, scalp and neck massage are standard with the hair styling. She did a wonderful job and I am returning to her for another service next week. Salon is attractive, clean and staff were friendly and efficient.

Individual attention, not juggling several clients at once. Personable, listens well, and cuts really well.
