Auto Service
I suspect these guys thought I was a total idiot when I came in, or they wouldn't have done what they did to my car. I brought my car in because my pads were worn down and I was unable to open the caliper myself to change them. They called me at home, less than 10 minutes before they closed for the day, to tell me they were done and I had less than 10 minutes to pick up my car or I would have to wait another day. Though really that was the nicest thing they did to me all day. When I retrieved my car (thankfully I have a fast bicycle), I brought it home and immediately noticed that two of my wheels had been put back on my car *backwards* (I have directional tires). This is pretty sorry work for a company that has *tire* right in their name! But I figured I could recover from that problem on my own, I just had to rotate the tires back to where they needed to be. However, this was impossible, as they so severely over-torqued the lug nuts on one of the mis-placed wheels that I could not remove it myself. I attempted to loosen it with a 4-foot breaker bar (and a six-point socket), and the lug rounded off. I eventually went to a more reputable shop to have the rounded lug removed. Furthermore, when they put the wheels back on, they made no mention of the fact that one wheel was re-attached with only 4 (out of 5) lug nuts. While I don't hold them responsible for the stripped lug on that hub, it is astonishing that a shop would ever allow a car to go back on the road without even making a note of the problem. Being as they took all four wheels off, they certainly had to have seen this, and yet they made no notation of it, nor did they ask me if I was aware of it or wanted them to fix it. They simply sent me back on the road with one wheel not completely secured. Then when I read the invoice they gave me, I found that they used semi-metallic pads when doing the brakes for my car. This is a travesty as well, as my car calls for ceramic in the OEM spec. One last thing that I noticed was also that they made no attempt to address the ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) light that was on in my car. The light was on when my car went in, and it was still on when I picked up my car. They did not mention it to me, nor did they ask about it. Being as my car was in for *brake* work, one would have hoped that they would have made some attempt to figure out why the ABS light was on.
