I responded to a ad in the newspaper that said over 10 years experience buiding decks. He showed up did the measurements, hadme pick outsamples and then gave me a quote. $4300.00.I agreed and he said he would order the materials and get back to me. 2 days later he said the materials were in and would begin work on monday. I have dogs so I took the dogs with me and came back at the end of the day. He had the old torn down the footers in and already had the majority of the deck done. Completely wrong. The footers werewrong the deck was not level and the board themselves were insaled improper.His level of craftmanship was absolutely horrible. Thedecking materials was composite so it was very expensive. After 2 days it was clear he was way over his head and we just cut a dealfor $3000.00 I will finish it myself!!! A total waste of $3000. Oh by the way the young kid he had working with him said he never did a deck before ever!!!
