Just polite enough for you to trust them. Then they bill you for hundreds of dollars. I feel as though I agreed to be robbed. They politely convince you to agree with them for services that don’t need to be done. I literally downloaded the yelp app specifically to write this review. I do partially take the blame because I should have trusted the reviews I read online before taking my car in (that’s my fault) ... now here is what is not my fault— I left feeling completely take advantage of when looking over my bill with trusted individuals after receiving my service. Fehlman brothers will nickel and dime you. They also took my car on a 12mile ride which was recorded on my odometer. After paying them just a pinch over $500.00 they failed my inspection for my parking break. Then tried to convince me to agree to an additional $500 to repair my cables. Also and additional $400 for rear breaks. I said no to those additional services. In less than 24hrs I had my car inspected no problem. For $21. And it’s not like a took my car to some hole in the wall shop for that to happen. It is a reputable location. Not even a mention of my parking brake. I basically have $500+ in my pocket still because I chose to take my car somewhere else. That’s not even the end of my rant... my father went in with my bill to talk to the owner. I have been refused any type of refund. Zero negotiation. Then someone from Fehlman brothers has the audacity called me to “talk over” my bill. This guy treated me like an idiot. Condescending jerk. I hate how that made me feel. I wish I didn’t even answer the call(Curiosity got the best of me). I don’t know car mechanics. That’s not my job. I’m a school teacher. However I do trust the people who looked over my bill and I will never return for service from the Fehlman Brothers(on Midler ave... I have heard good things about the shop on burnet but have never personally been there. I just want to clarify that this review is for the Fehlman Brothers on Midler) ... so my friends on yelp. Steer clear unless you’ve got money to burn... because I might as well have set mine cash on fire and toasted marshmallows. That at least would have been delicious.

It went well. His mechanic showed me what needed to be done now and did it. He also showed me what will need to be repaired in the near future so I can plan for it.

I have been going there for the last two years.  Everybody there is professional.  I searched on Angie’s List and found another service provider but they were expensive so I took it to Fehlman and it was $400 cheaper for the same thing.  They treated me right.

First, a shop which answers its e-mails! That is a good start. The shop itself was clean, as was the parking lot and lounge. The desk people were friendly and not distracted. I knew I needed a brake job before I came in for the appointment, though Fehlman's didn't know it, AND I knew what I didn't need if anyone recommended it. So, the first test was passed. Then the mechanic and customer service rep showed me the underside of the vehicle and walked me through the brake job. Since I don't get under a lift often, I enjoyed it and appreciated the time they took with me. After that I chatted with another customer in the lounge who told me he had been coming to Fehlman's for years and was satisfied with the service. As I am getting older now, I need a shop with one stop service and repairs. They can do it all. Also, I am less concerned with cost as I am with quality and the business standing behind its work. Finally, I was given a and quot;debit cardand quot; with 2% of the cost of service posted to it. I can use the card for future service. I like to wait for vehicles and there is a Dunkin Donuts across the street and a very large used book store within walking distance.

Very good. The work was done quickly and correctly. I've used Fehlman Bros. for several years for our Nissan and Volvo cars, and most of the time they've been great. They are not perfect though, and I suspect that a careless tech who lost my dipstick caused me to replace a $550 electric cooling fan. I noticed that the dipstick was missing the next day and they replaced it with a new one. A week later the electric cooling fan killed the battery and stranded us because it continued to run after the ignition was off. I had it replaced at another shop for $550, but wondered if the missing dipstick, which is right next to the electronic module for the fan, had allowed oil to spray around and cause the problem. I sent them an email via their web site and never got a response. I didn't pursue the matter further, since it might have been a coincidence, but it would have been nice to get a response. Probably just means that they don't pay attention to their email. On balance, I've been happy with their work for many years, but I give them a B for the oil change incident and lack of response. They also support our local public radio station, which is a plus.

A little mix-up about not adding in the coupon to my bill, but other than that they were very professional (and not patronizing). All the work they did was discussed with me in detail before they worked on it. The bill was a lot more than I was expecting (just thought I'd be getting a state inspection), but they went through it line by line and explained the parts and labor.

I went into the repair shop and explained all of the issues I had. In particular my brakes were pulsating and my check engine light was on. They were very thorough in explaining in detail, why they were performing the particular repair work. Even when picking my car up, they showed me the old part which was replaced and explained thoroughly.
Based on their recommendation and how old the model car was, they did not feel the need to try and repair the pulsating brakes at this time. They deemed it 'minor'. I thought it was more than minor but heeded their advice as they were the experts. Given the year of the model, it seemed fair.
Compared to other shops in the area, these guys were a bit on the high side in terms of price. Due to price point, I don't think I will be a returning customer.

My brake light has started coming on in the past week, particularly when traveling up-hill. I figured it was a minor issue, but I haven't had the car serviced much in the first year of ownership, so it was time. The dealer (Nissan) is both too far away and too expensive. Fehlman Brothers received many favorable reviews, so I called. It was Wednesday, and they said I could bring the car in Friday morning and wait for it.
When I arrived Friday morning at 8am, I talked for a minute with a mechanic who said the staff would check it out promptly. I sat down in a comfortable enough waiting room (no TV blasting, thankfully), and, a few minutes later, the mechanic hurried into the room to note that my parking brake was on. He asked how long I'd been driving it like that. I explained that I'm in the habit of setting it whenever I get out of the car (I used to drive a standard), but I always take it off when driving. He just as quickly disappeared. I was a little surprised by the question, which seemed to imply driver error--of the ditzy kind. Since other reviewers indicate that Fehlman has a good customer service record when it comes to women, I decided to let it pass.
All in all, I'm glad I did. The mechanic returned once more with a question, and 45 minutes later, a different technician appeared for a brief chat. He indicated there were no leaks and that fluid would be replaced. At that time, I was also advised about the life of my brakes and made a plan to return by winter time. After that technician left, no one materialized to let me know when I could make payment, but when I appeared at the desk, they were just printing the paperwork. I had time to ask a few questions, and I appreciated the answers provided.
The staff are not as friendly as other reviewers suggest, but they were very professional and largely attentive. The price seemed a little high, but after some consultation elsewhere I believe the price was fair.

I called on the last day of the month to see if they could squeeze me in for a State Inspection and they did not hesitate in saying they could do it that same day. The inspection was completed in a reasonable amount of time and they even washed the car for free.

The new tire was waiting for me when I came in. It was an exact match to my existing tires, but they made sure the new one had the same tread depth as my existing ones.
Putting on the new tire and doing the inspection only took about 30-45 minutes.

They are a family business and everyone was real friendly. They showed me what was wrong with the car and didn't treat me like a lot of mechanics do women. They are very professional, they did what the said they would do and it was very reasonable in price.

The owner, Mr. E, is unreasonable. The owner insisted and lectured me about a and quot;historyand quot; of distributor problems on my CR-V. (I did my research-safecar.gov and 2 Car Pros.com, NTB.gov and Honda CRV forums - no factual evidence to support that claim of a faulty distributor. The owner sent me cell phone pictures of worn spark plug wires, a worn distributor cap, and his mechanic George, said the coil and quot;smelled badand quot;! ( smells ? ) I said, and quot;it sounds like the problems are in the cap, rotor, coil and wires.and quot; I then, reluctantly, asked the owner to put in a $209.00. (Advance Auto Parts) distributor instead of the $429.00 distributor the owner insisted on installing. I tried to appeal to his cerebral cortex urging him to be reasonable. (They are all Chinese made auto parts anyway.) The owner refused. He charged me 105% mark-up on his parts cost. I believe the owner was unreasonable and would not work with me. His interaction with a first time customer was threatening. The owner threatened to and quot;slapand quot; (his words) all the parts back on the CR-V and let my son take the vehicle elsewhere for repairs. I believe the owner needs to take a course in anger management and/or cultural competency. How was my experience with this auto repair business i.e., Fehlman Brothers Inc of Syracuse, NY? In one word - Horrible. My son called to pick up the CR-V on 01/25/12. Fehlman Bros Inc. reported they are having difficulty locating the $429.00 distributor! When is this nightmare going to end? It took another 24 hours for the part to come back to the auto shop. The mechanic could have walked to Erie Blvd and picked up the distributor at Advance Auto Parts).

The auto repair shop I had used for years was becoming more and more unprofessional, coming up with crazy things that needed to be replaced, and were not adhering to either time nor cost estimates. I looked on AngiesList to find a new repair shop. Based on location and the reviews, I chose Fehlman Brothers. I am glad I did.

They found multiple things that my previous shop had done incorrectly, but did not automatically fix them without asking me first. Some I chose to have fixed, others I didn't. They adhered to my decisions. They have always had the car fixed when they said they would. They always quote me a price, before doing the work, that is either correct, or slightly over what it ends up costing.

In speaking with the employees over the phone, they are all knowledgable and professional. When checking out at the shop, everyone I have dealt with is professional.

They are slightly more expensive than some other shops, but if they get everything right the first time, it is worth it to me. Their parking lot is a little bit of a pain, because all the cars are locked behind a fence when they are closed. This is great to prevent theft, but it makes dropping the car off before they open difficult and picking up the car after they close impossible. Again, a minor inconvenience to get my car fixed correctly, the first time, in the time frame quoted and at the price quoted.
