They said it was a cyst. It just happened all of a sudden. We just have to keep our eye on it and see if there is anything that needs to be done. They know what they're doing and they are very good for emergency care.

When there is something that appears to be very serious, they will refer us to VMC.

We've used them for several years and we will continue. It seems to be organized and you can get in there if you need to for emergency. And they have the urgent care for nighttime till 10 pm.

I dropped her off in the morning and picked her up the same day right before the clinic closed. They gave me a bit of pain medicine and a cone so she wouldn't lick her stitches. My puppy stood up all night and whined, right through the meds they gave me. She also kept getting stuck on doors because of the cone. The next day I took her back to make sure nothing was wrong because she still would not lay down or sleep and was whining. I was told she was fine, give her an extra pill. The day after that she had STILL not slept for more than a few minutes (and consequently neither had I) so I went BACK in, and had a minor meltdown due to my own lack of sleep. I was told that they couldn't do much because and quot;Giving me any sort of sedative for her would not be ethical, and they had a responsibility to be ethical to the animals they treat.and quot; The tech I saw told me that I should expect her to be in pain because surgery hurts. I was pretty upset because her being in pain didn't seem ethical, and my not sleeping at all was about to not be ethical to her or any of the people around me. They offered to write me a stronger prescription for the same pain meds she was already taking... long story short, they ended up giving her a dose of stronger painkillers right then and then keeping her in the kennel area for a couple hours to see whether she would sleep or not. The higher dose of painkillers helped somewhat, but I still had to pick her up and then hold her on her side until she fell asleep, or she was too afraid to lay down. I would probably go back if I needed to, as the place is clean and well-run, but it is expensive and I would have to ask for the care/meds I wanted to prevent a repeat of this situation, which wasn't very pleasant for anyone involved.

After a great deal of discussion and prayer, my Mother decided to put her older dog to sleep before moving into a retirement home. The dog was in her senior years, as well as morbidly obese, not house-trained and prone to snipping at or biting people (even my Mother). She also had increasing medical difficulties due to her age. Due to her size/weight, the dog could not move with my Mom. Due to her disposition, we knew it would be difficult for her to be adopted. But we provided my Mom with the options of moving the dog to a No Kill Shelter or having the dog put to sleep. Although this is always a difficult decision, my Mom chose to have the dog put to sleep so she could "always be with her." As this was a hard decision, I called the Fairmont Animal Hospital, explained the situation and why the choice had been made. I pre-paid for the entire procedure, including cremation, so my Mom would not have to handle any of that. As I live out of state, my sister accompanied my Mom and the dog to the appt. When they arrived, they were put in a room but had to wait about an hour for the vet. (The workers did provide the dog with treats, including an ice cream, which was very nice.) Unfortunately, when the Vet came in, she gave my Mother the 5th degree on why she was putting down a relatively healthily dog. This was my Mom's regular vet, but not the usual doctor. And apparently, either she didn't review the dog's file, or the time I spent with the front desk/assistant to deflect this line of questioning was not put in the file. We love our pets. We do not take the option of euthanasia lightly, and in this case, reviewed other probable options. But in the end, this was my Mom's dog, and when presented with the options, we went with her wishes. Based on the lack of compassion showed by the Doctor who questioned the ethics of my elderly Mom, as well as a complete disregard for why we had preplanned and prepaid for this difficult event, I would never do business with this organization again.

The animals were a little nervous, which is to be expected, but were treated so very by all staff whom they had contact with. I like them very much.

There's really nothing I disliked about them. They just moved into a new building so there's lots of parking. The facilities are large but clean. All the doctors we've met are really nice. We absolutely had no problems.

The veterinarian worked along with a technician. Both were excellent - they were knowledgeable and showed their love, kindness and care for their and quot;patientsand quot;.
The veterinarians we have seen at Fairmount Animal Hospital have always taken their time to be thorough and don't hurry.
We have always been very happy with their service and referrals, whenever additional evaluation was necessary.
The receptionists are also quite helpful.
