They were punctual, couteous, and did a wonderful job, despite the unexpected discovery of the original single-width driveway under the 3 other layers!! These layers were not all visible at the time of the quote, yet rather than add more cost to dig up the 4th layer, Mike, the owner, showed me that the original driveway was pretty much in perfect shape, so, to save me extra expense and unnecessary waste of materials, they kept that layer, tamped the exisitng crusher run, filled in the gaps along the sides, and finished up the job the next morning. Even though the work involved to dig up all 3 layers (one of which was about 6 inches thick) added another half day to the job, they did not raise the price. The compromise was that one small section by the curb was left as is, which they came back a week later and sealed so that it matched the new part of the driveway. Originally I was going to have the apron torn up too, but it didn't really need it when all was said and done.
I will give an update next Spring, after seeing how it it holds up through the winter. For now I will conclude by saying that I am very pleased with the service and professionalism...not always an easy find these days!

Two guys came and did the job in under two hours. They were very efficient and professional. I have used them years ago to repair our driveway and thought they did a very good job. I would definitely consider using them again in the future.

Up to last year, I would not hire a contractor without first checking them out on Angie's List. I did this when looking for a Paving Contractor.
I secured three bids for the service I needed done: resurfacing my existing asphalt driveway. I went with CNY Paving based on their Angie's List reviews.
On the day the paving was to be done, the young man representing CNY paving showed up in the morning. We completed a contract and normally they request 50% up front. Since he was to pave that morning, I gave him a check for the entire amount. (This was my first mistake.) I am a church musician and I had to sing at a funeral that morning. So I left for the church. It looked like it could rain, and we agreed that if it did rain he would wait until the next day.
When I got back to my house, some of his tools were there, but no work had been done. I called his phone number, and he said his team could not do it that day. I have to tell you all sorts of bells went off in my head. I called my bank, and this young man had cashed my check the moment I left for church.
I called him back and told him I felt uncomfortable and he promised they would be there the next day.
They weren't. I called him and told him I no longer felt confident in him and wanted my money back. "It's already been spent," is what he told me. "I'm going to need some time to raise the cash." I spoke with my neighbor who is a Syracuse City Police Officer, and he said he would investigate the young man for me. I called and left him a message letting him know this.
When he called me back he yelled and swore at me. I told him I expected him to be at my house by 6 pm with the cash. He never showed up.
I called CNY paving and this is when I found out the owner was in Florida, and that the young man was "working on his own." However, the owner did say he would back up the job. It took a couple of weeks but finally the owner (who flew back from Florida) showed up with a team and did the job. (They young man was part of the team.) They didn't seem to have the tools they needed. At one point I had to give them a bucket to use for "kerosene" I believe. The job was done sloppily, they told me they would need to come the next day to finish down by the street, but they never showed up.

Response from CNY Paving/Salt City Paving And Sealing
"I am the owner of CNY Paving and Trucking and am more than concerned with your posting. This is not how I run my business. I have called you numerous times, stopped by to look at the job that was completed, have pictures that are to the contrary of what you state, and have left a note at your home to please call me. Unfortunately this has not happened and I cannot rectify any situation without communication. Furthermore this job was completed in the summer of 2015. If there were issues when the driveway was completed, an immediate phone call at that time would have been appropriate. I am here any time in the event you would like to discuss your unhappiness. I look forward to hearing from you."

Called vendor and spoke to a pleasant lady to request a quote for sealing driveway. Estimator arrived the following day and indicated they were scheduling about a week out. Explained services included weed wacking and edging, I didn't need cracks filled but he suggested in the future I have the end of driveway repaired due to damage from snowplows. No hard sells. He provided details and answered all my questions. Suggested I call and get on the schedule if I was interested in sealing. I called the next day to schedule an appt and was able to have driveway sealed that week. Three young men came, made sure no cars were in the garage, blew any junk off driveway, weed wacked as needed, sealed the driveway and roped if off. Done deal.

They were on Angie's List. Actually we did something unique in my neighborhood. We put a 5 driveway package together for them and they did a very good job of filling 5 of us. They were very good, very professional and very responsive. Best of all they returned phone calls promptly.

CNY was excellent. They filled in holes along with a top coat, which is what we did not get from our previous paver.

Overall it went very well. They delivered on what was promised for the estimated price. They were always cautious and prompt in returning phone calls. There were also some complications and delay on my part with the payment and Mike was very understanding and accommodating.

Work was completed as promised. The owner was on-site to supervise. The workmen did a quality job. They were very personable and professional and eager to please. They cleaned up after the job was complete.
