I will give an update next Spring, after seeing how it it holds up through the winter. For now I will conclude by saying that I am very pleased with the service and professionalism...not always an easy find these days!
I secured three bids for the service I needed done: resurfacing my existing asphalt driveway. I went with CNY Paving based on their Angie's List reviews.
On the day the paving was to be done, the young man representing CNY paving showed up in the morning. We completed a contract and normally they request 50% up front. Since he was to pave that morning, I gave him a check for the entire amount. (This was my first mistake.) I am a church musician and I had to sing at a funeral that morning. So I left for the church. It looked like it could rain, and we agreed that if it did rain he would wait until the next day.
When I got back to my house, some of his tools were there, but no work had been done. I called his phone number, and he said his team could not do it that day. I have to tell you all sorts of bells went off in my head. I called my bank, and this young man had cashed my check the moment I left for church.
I called him back and told him I felt uncomfortable and he promised they would be there the next day.
They weren't. I called him and told him I no longer felt confident in him and wanted my money back. "It's already been spent," is what he told me. "I'm going to need some time to raise the cash." I spoke with my neighbor who is a Syracuse City Police Officer, and he said he would investigate the young man for me. I called and left him a message letting him know this.
When he called me back he yelled and swore at me. I told him I expected him to be at my house by 6 pm with the cash. He never showed up.
I called CNY paving and this is when I found out the owner was in Florida, and that the young man was "working on his own." However, the owner did say he would back up the job. It took a couple of weeks but finally the owner (who flew back from Florida) showed up with a team and did the job. (They young man was part of the team.) They didn't seem to have the tools they needed. At one point I had to give them a bucket to use for "kerosene" I believe. The job was done sloppily, they told me they would need to come the next day to finish down by the street, but they never showed up.
"I am the owner of CNY Paving and Trucking and am more than concerned with your posting. This is not how I run my business. I have called you numerous times, stopped by to look at the job that was completed, have pictures that are to the contrary of what you state, and have left a note at your home to please call me. Unfortunately this has not happened and I cannot rectify any situation without communication. Furthermore this job was completed in the summer of 2015. If there were issues when the driveway was completed, an immediate phone call at that time would have been appropriate. I am here any time in the event you would like to discuss your unhappiness. I look forward to hearing from you."
I did find a very nice company to do my driveways for alot less money and no harrassing.
"I would like to say I am sorry for your experience however I am very confident that it was not my company who came. And looked at your driveway .i would be very willing to speak to you on this matter so we can get this cleared up if you look at my other reviews you will see that is not at all how I do business please call or email me anytime thank you."
