HORRIBLE. 1. Quality of wood - subpar. Paid for ALL red oak select hardwood. An assortment of different qualities and types of oaks installed. Have pieces as short as 6". Had a few other hardwood flooring specialists inspect Mr. Brewer's workmanship and the wood itself...ALL claimed both were garbage. 2.Wood was not left to 'acclimate.' Instead laid, finished and sealed 'wet' 3. Wood cracked. Wood cupped and even raised in areas. Have splits throughout planks. 4. Wood floor was not leveled when installed. 5. Finishing and sealing materials contracted and paid for...not used. Contacted GC, who came to the house (one of only 5 times) and agreed the floor was 'crap.' He spent the next many, many months allegedly trying to contact Mr. Brewer...finally telling me he heard he moved fromt he area. (The GC - to avoid financial restitution to me or a handful of other homeowners, and a slew of suppliers and subcontractors, declared bankruptcy and then reopened nder the same name, Bay Builders, a few months later in Syracuse NY.) I was at Walk on Wood and asked if anyone knew where Mr. Brewer moved to? Was told he didn't move, but was still in town and in business. ***I contacted Mr. Brewer by mail asking him to come to my house to inspect HIS workmanship. No Response. ***I tried again. This time a response was received from his attorney who told me that Mr. Brewer stands behind his work and is a professional...further claiming I was only questioning his workmanship due to my problems w/the GC. ***These 'claims' were SIGHT UNSEEN. ***Sent copies of photos of te flooring to the attorney. Of course, can't argue w/pictorial proof - so no response from either Mr. Brewer's attorney or Mr. Brewer himself. Obviously Mr. Brewer does not stand behind his work! He refused to come to my house to even inspect the problems that resulted from HIS WORKMANSHIP. Even after photos were provided to illustrate the problems he didn't offer so much as a minute of his time. SIMPLY DEPLORABLE.
Description of Work: Brewer Wood Floors (Owner: Al Brewer) was hired by the general contractor (GC), Bay Builders (President: Doug Badger) remodeling my home to replace 1000sf of hardwood flooring. My understanding is $5,000.00 was the cost for the red oak select, finished and sealed with StreetShoe.
