The framing was done incorrectly, and you could still see through to the outside. He never returned my calls or emails after my check cleared.

The services provided by JDS were were exceptional. With The high quality of work we received, their professionalism, and their attentiveness to our needs..... I would highly recommend them to others. You will not be disappointed as they are honest, fair, and meticulous with their work. My home is beyond beautiful.

The project started out very well and proceeded along well until near the end. At the end the job was rushed and then after we paid him, it has been almost impossible to get him to stand behind his work and finish this job properly. 
The contractor, Doug Forman, pushed us to pick out paint colors before the lights were installed and we had to repaint areas that changed tones as the result of the colors appearing differently under the new lighting,  This cost us an additional $540 that should not have been necessary.  Contractor also had us choose the floor color stain on "scrap pieces" of the flooring rather than work with the actual floor to be stained.  This resulted in the color coming out much lighter than on the sample pieces, which were rougher and not sanded as the floor was.  The floors had to be redone at an additional expense to us of $1,950.00.
The woodwork was generally of a high quality and we had thought that the job was well done.  Mr. Forman insisted that I give him the balance of the fee on April 26, 2013 and said that he would finish up the final part of the work when spring came and the weather got warmer for the exterior paint.  As soon as the check cleared, he has been very uncooperative and has not completed the job or fixed recurring problems. 
 Mr. Forman convinced us to put up siding on the house and this siding does not seem to be of a very good quality.  I have repeatedly asked him for information about the guarantee for the siding and he has not furnished the information to me. I believe that a job that cost us $19,240 which does not include the "credit" which he supposedly gave us since he didn't have to reinstall the original wood siding on the house should come with a gaurantee and I feel that I should be provided with the information. Since the installation,the soffits have warped and he was called numerous times to fix the problem.  His crew came once and left many marks and glue all over the rear soffitt.  Then the front soffitt also warped and his crew came today.  I was told that they were going to clean it but they did not.  They left the glue all over it and he has not made an appointment to fix it after repeatedly calling him about this today.   He had also told us that the siding trim would be painted like the St. Georges Golf Club siding, which he had done. He had me go over to look at that job saying that the finished product would be the same.  When the weather did get warmer and I asked when he was going to paint the trim, he then replied that he never said it was going to be painted. I had trusted him to keep his word on that and we did not draw up a separate contract for the siding portion of the job. That was a very big mistake as I now have no recourse about the promise of painting the trim as it was done at the golf course. I wish that I had not gotten the siding. It looks cheap and very plastic without being finished the way he had represented it to me from the golf course example.
Another problem is a wiring issue that he refuses to fix.  Mr. Forman suggested that we hang the TV over the new fireplace with a device that costs us about $1,000 extra above his charges.  The electrician put the wires through the wall and into the bookcases unit that he built around the fireplace.  I told Mr. Forman months ago that the DVD player would not work.  We have never been able to watch a DVD from the first day it was installed.  The player works fine and was tested on a different TV.  The problem is that the wire plug that would go into the DVD is broken.  I strongly feel that he should have the electrician come back and fix this.  He claimed that we didn't know how to operate the DVD but we certainly do and it worked when we hooked a wire manually into the TV.  It is the wire that was put through the wall that is broken and he should fix it!
The worst problem is that the master bathroom shower leaks.  He was informed of this right after we started using the bathroom in April.  He has not fixed the problem and it is now June 17, 2013.  I have tried to get him to return with the tile person and fix this.  The bathroom was done using high quality materials that we paid for and were above the cost of what we paid Mr. Forman.  This bathroom was supposed to last for many years and it has leaked since the first day.
This is unacceptable as this is over two months after he received his full payment from us.  
I would have recommended JDS to people before April 2013 but I would not recommend his company to anyone now.  If you hire him, do not give him the full payment until all of the work is fully and completely finished.  He will not return your calls and your job will be a distant memory once the check clears.

I was happy with the work. They did a good job. They were professional and cleaned up well after the job. The price was reasonable. I would reccomend them to anyone needing home improvement work.
