They were excellent. They took a lot of time to explain documentation and returned the report in a timely manner.

Excellent. Doug Sward from Pillar to Post did our home inspection. We arrived a few minutes late and he was already on the roof. He did an extremely thorough inspection, answering any of our questions along the way. He was very professional, personable and knowledgeable.
I loved when he pulled his computer out and completed the report right there! We got it the same day!
I would DEFINITELY use Doug again.

So, that's all the positive what's on the negative?

1. I wanted to fill up the tub all the way and then run some other water at the same time. It was difficult to do that since the one real estate agent kept insisting on shutting the water every time I walked out of the room. I suspected that there was something wrong with the bathtub---plumbing at the time. The drain was slow and the previous owner claimed that they fixed it but it was still slow. I suspected the problem was bigger than just the bathroom drain. And so, on this issue , the home inspection failed. FOR future reference---home buyers, I suggest that you completely fill the tub up high, then flush the toilet and then some water at once. This is the only way that you will discover where there is a main sewer problem. Once I was running the water, the 'ownerand quot; didn't want me to go into the cellar before we left --to shut the light. I was a little suspicious of that but let him shut the light. Big mistake.
Home owners. RUN THAT water, flush the toilet while the tub is filled up and then drain the tub. THEN go into the cellar and look at the floor. IF you have a flood or any water down there, you most likely have a main sewer problem.
So, this was an unexpected expense for me --- and this was not found out during the inspection. I'm sure that MOST home inspectors don't bother to do that but I suggest that you do it while the home inspector is there and insist on going into the cellar after you run the water. Bring a friend with you so that your friend can stand watch over the bathtub and so that the real estate agent does not shut the water off on you. So, in summary, I was disappointed that the main sewer blockage was not found during this inspection. However, I'm sure that no other home inspector would have found the problem either. So, YOU do the work and do the plumbing inspection while you have the house inspector there.

2. The person that recommended Pillar to Post to me told me that they were thorough and even and quot;climbed onto the roofand quot;. And I liked that thoroughness and so that is why I called Pillar to Post. However, this inspector did not go onto the roof for the inspection. He looked at the roof from the ground, and added the inspection to the list.

That is about it.

Yes, I would use Pillar to Post again, and if need be I'd do the plumbing-tub inspection also at that time of the home inspection. This company is highly recommended. I believe that the fault of the problems was due to the previous owner--- the person selling the house and to the unscrupulous real estate agent who insisted that I not go back into the cellar to shut the light. Remember that same real estate agent was the same one that kept on shutting the tub off. He and she also did not want me to even turn the heat on or the air conditioner on to test it, however , my own real estate agent who was there insisted that we should test both of those to see if they worked.

YES HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PILLAR TO POST -- Emmanuel Stratakis --ask for him, as he is the only inspector that I have experience dealing with . Their phone is 718 720 9526 .
