I had a slow drip from a leaky valve on my old steam boiler, a valve I use once a week in winter to drain rust out of the boiler. I had just had other extensive plumbing work done by Vigilante, which was fine and somewhat reasonably priced (their estimate was half was Petri had offered to do it for). But when I pointed out the drip, the Vigilante rep suggested an annual boiler check contract that sounded unnecessarily pricey. A neighbor recommended Rocky Molinare. JR Mechanical is just Rocky and his brother-in-law and NYC was in the middle of the and quot;polar vortexand quot; cold snap, meaning JR had many emergencies to tend to, so Rocky had to make an appointment for several days later. (My drip was a nuisance, not an emergency.) On the appointed day, he showed up on time. He saw that the leaky valve was part of the boiler cutoff float, a $200 part. Rather than replace the whole part, he installed a new valve a couple of inches below the leaky one, and replaced another drainage valve he said I should use occasionally to keep the very bottom of the boiler clean. He charged only $125 for the whole job, which took an hour. He also helped me move a long, heavy iron ladder that had been moved to facilitate the earlier plumbing work and was blocking half my basement.

They are professional and always clean up after themselves. We had a pipe in the ceiling that developed a leak. They took down the ceiling and repaired the pipe. The leak was in my office, they covered up everything and kept it clean. I've also called them at 10pm before and they came to Brooklyn that night. He lives in Staten Island.

His price was reasonable and he worked very quickly. He had everything he needed in his van.
