The team was excellent. Removed the tree efficiently, neatly and with minimal disruption for my neighbors. Cleaned up very well, and ground the stump so that there is no trace of the tree left. They also did some work for one of my neighbors at the same time. Not cheap, but for a project that needs to be done right, I always would prefer to pay a bit more for excellent, reliable work -- only quibble is that it took a while to schedule, but they explained the delay -- due to a truck that needed repair -- and scheduled me as soon as they were able.

Steve was very knowledgeable & accommodating. Office staff (Suzanne) nice & accommodating. Pruning crew (Bruce +2 workers) was punctual, courteous, proficient & and very conscious of property clean up. Deep root fertilization Service Tech (John) also courteous & knowledgeable. All answered my many questions graciously. I was relieved to be told my tree was diagnosed to be "ok", and would benefit by all services performed.

I first used Holly Tree Service almost two years ago, and I was very satisfied with the efficient, professional service.for having two large trees cut down and a branch removed from another tree. At that time, Steve Boos told me that he could grind down the stumps of the two trees for $700. Unfortunately, I didn't have the money at that time.
Since I wanted to have my front lawn redone where one of the stumps remained, I called Holly to grind down the stump. In mid June, I called Holly for an estimate for this job. After telling Steve that I wanted the stump ground from one of the two trees he removed almost two years ago. HOLD ON! He said he would honor the original $700 (for both stumps) estimate!!! What a surprise in these days of excuses and puffings! So I decided to get both stumps ground. When he came over, I asked him for the cost to remove another large branch from the fast-growing sweetgum, he said it would be $175. Later on, he said I should get a neighboring branch off the same tree taken off. When I asked him how much, he said, "No charge"!! His men came about a week later and ground the stumps. After last week's rain, they came yesterday (June 30) and quickly removed the two branches. If you need tree services, Holly Tree is the one to call.

They did absolutely nothing wrong. They were flawless. They didn't have to be monitored. I didn't have to watch over them. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. They kept good communication with me. They were absolutely professional. Not one thing went wrong.

After checking the List for a local tree care service and upon the recommendation of another, different service (also from the List), I called Steve Boos of Holly Expert Tree Service on the 9th of this August. He called me shortly thereafter, and we scheduled an appointment on 8/12 for an estimate. He gave me a written estimate for the removals of the trees and limb of $2,475 with an additional charge of $700 for grinding down and removal of the stumps. When I told him I could only afford the tree and limb removals at this time, he told me that the charge for the grinding would remain the same whenever I got the money. I agreed to his estimate, and we arranged for the job to be done the following day. Because of rain, Steve called to postpone. He called me on Wednesday to have the work done Thursday, 8/15. He and his team arrived early that morning, and they spent at least 5-6 hours removing these very large trees (one was an 80-year old blue spruce that was listing badly due to English ivy and a beautiful mulberry tree, also smothered by this ivy and the sweetgum limb). This work was extremely noisy as to be expected, but done efficiently. Steve was very pleasant and helpful.
By the way, Holly's price for the service was cheaper by $200-400 than two previous estimates.

I spent $1000 on that service. They seemed to be very competent. They came right away and gave me estimates beforehand. They did not damage the house. Their professionalism and punctuality was very good. The reason that I called them was because I had a cat go way up into a tree and did not come down for three days. There was a lightning storm coming and I did not know what to do, so I called them and said that I would pay them $1000 to get the cat down, but the guy came over and did not charge anything, so I was impressed by that. He just climbed the tree and got the cat down and I kept the cat.

THEY DID A LOT OF WORK ACTUALLY IN THE TREES. THEY NEEDED EQUIPMENT BECAUSE THEY WERE HIGH TREES. THE RESPONSE WAS GOOD. THEY ALWAYS SHOW UP WHEN THEY NEED TO, AND THEY HAVE ALWAYS DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB. WE HAVE USED THEM FOR THE PAST FOUR YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH ANYONE THERE.

I GUESS THEY WEREN'T MUCH WORSE THEN ANY OTHER TREE COMPANY. THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS TREE IN MY FRONT YARD WAS REALLY HEALTHY AND A LARGE PIECE FELL ONTO MY HOUSE. IT HAD WOODPECKERS IN IT, AND IT MADE ME THINK THEY LIED WHEN THEY TOLD ME THE TREE WAS HEALTHY. I JUST HOPE IT REMAINS STANDING.

"We just joined this site recently (2011) and see this old report from 2006. Don't understand why this member decided to give us a black eye like this, she has been a loyal client for years before this and still has used us one time since she wrote this report. Our records indicate she used us in 2007, approximately 1 year after she wrote this report. I also don't understand how a large limb that gets ripped off in a storm could be somehow construed as our fault? So what if it had woodpeckers on it! If we removed every tree that had woodpecker damage there would be virtually no trees left! Also,why would we lie to her when we could have sold her more tree work? Furthermore, I personally don't recall telling this member anything at all regarding the health or structural stability of that tree. It is possible because, after all, it was 5 years ago but it definitely was not in a official report (we keep strict records). Most likely it was an offhand comment by an employee and not by one of our ISA Certified Arborists. Again, if she is so upset with us, why would she give us this bad report and then use our services again a year later? I wish she had come to us first before she bashed us badly in a public forum... IT WAS VERY POSITIVE BECAUSE I CALLED THEM FOR AN EMERGENCY. I WANTED SOMEONE TO COME RIGHT AWAY. I CALLED ALMOST EVERY TREE COMPANY IN STATEN ISLAND, AND THEY WERE THE ONLY ONES THAT RESPONDED IN A TIMELY FASHION. THEY HAD THE BEST PRICE. IT WAS THE EASE OF MAKING AN APPOINTMENT THAT IMPRESSED ME SO MUCH.

THEY GIVE GOOD ADVICE ABOUT HOW TO KEEP THE TREES HEALTHY AND WHAT IS NEEDED. IN A CASE THERE WAS CONSTRUCTION GOING ON IN THE AREA, THEY WERE THERE AND THEY DID A VERY GOOD JOB. THEY SAVED A TREE OF MINE, I THINK.
