Work was done in June but I waited a few months to write this review to make sure all was well. My roof was old and had sprung a leak. Replacement was long overdue. I called Cee Jay Real Estate Dev Corp and Cliff came over the same day to evaluate the roof and explain the process. I was given an estimate and a very detailed contract soon after our meeting. Once I agreed to have the work done, I was kept in the loop every step of the way. It only took two days to complete the work and the workers did an excellent job, plus they also left my yard very clean. I am very satisfied with the work that was done.

I contacted the company for a quote. I had to cancel the visit so I contacted the main office. The office manager took the information. The next day 8:25 am (7/11/18) I got a text saying, "Advise on appt - my guys on way to walk on your roof" I responded, "I canceled this appointment yesterday." He responds, "My guys on way this is Cee Jay we have appt" My reply was, "I canceled this appointment I already contracted another company. Check with your office." His final reso]ponse, "Not nice!" If we couldn't get things straight for a quote - well - I can't imagine what a nightmare a large roof removal and reconstruction would have turned out to be.

Considering the large amount of varied work that I needed done, I thought it would be wise to consolidate the work under a reputable general contractor. I did my research and found Cee Jay, a GC decorated with contractor excellence awards over several years. Unfortunately, my experience with them was horrible. I was not informed that any of the work was going to be sub-contracted (electrical, tree stump removal, fence installation, aluminum railings installation). Apparently, carpenters were put on the job to do the masonry work and it showed. They did not put down gravel before pouring the concrete, they did not properly space the expansion joints, they did not properly finish the surface with decorative brush marks, and they did not pitch the patios correctly to drain away water while still being able to place patio furniture (water puddled on the side patio, and the back patio was pitched so steep that I could not place a table). The owner Cliff Siegel refused to acknowledge that there was anything wrong with the work that was done, and offered very little to make it right. He tried to fix the puddling on the side of the house, but only made it worse, then said "there's nothing else I can do." Long story short, I was furious and he wanted to wash his hands clean of the situation and walk away. We eventually settled to stay out of court. The way the whole project was handled caused me a great amount of stress. He never showed up at the agreed time (he was hours late every time), and never gave a service date for anything. Workers would show up any day at any time, unannounced. I cannot recommend this contractor to anyone. As an aside, I would just like to mention that I recently had the back patio and side patio ripped out and replaced by another reputable masonry contractor. My new concrete patios were poured correctly and finished beautifully. I am now 100% satisfied with my concrete patios, thanks to the new contractor, something that Cliff Siegel thought would never be possible. He told me that I would never be satisfied with anyone's work because I focus on every little imperfection. The man is just downright rude, condescending, and thinks he is always right. Work with him at your own risk.

He did such a great job. I've had people stop by and say to me how beautiful the work has turned out. He did some work for my next door neighbor as well. If I needed any adjustments, he was right there to correct and fix anything. I couldn't be more pleased. They worked in all kinds of weather to get the work done.

Bad... No Customer satisfaction. He will not resolve the matter. He is not a people person. You are on your own. I made my complaint to the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.

I decided to get the window replaced with another company.

Mr. Siegel response DOES NOT HOLD WATER. He basically shunned all responsibility to homeowner and refuses to honor his work.

Well I found the leak. IT WAS SEVERAL SLATES OF VERTICAL SIDING NO CLOSING PROPERLY. I MANAGED TO NAIL THEM SHUT, BUT NO TOO TIGHT TO PREVENT EXPANSION. I ALSO SEALED AND CAPPED THE J CHANNEL. THE HOSE TEST SHOWED THAT THE WATER NO LONGER CAME IN. HOWEVER, I HAD TWO REPLACEMENT WINDOWS PUT IN.  WHEN THE COMPANY I HIRED PULLED OUT OLD WINDOWS THERE WAS EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF HOLES IN THE TOP OF THEM. THIS MUST HAVE BEEN DONE DURING THE TIME OF INSTALLATION AND PRIOR TO MY PURCHASING OF HOME. I GUESS THE INSTALLER GOT TIRED OF COMING BACK TO RESOLVE WATER LEAK ISSUE SO THEY DRILLED HOLES ON TOP OF WINDOW TO RELIEVE WATER PRESSURE. NO WONDER THE COMPANY DID NOT WANT TO COME BACK TO RESOLVE WATER ISSUE. WHY? THERE WAS NO MONEY TO BE MADE ON REPAIRS ( MR> SIEGEL's TEXT DID STATE HE FELT SORRY, BUT HE CANT LOOSE. MEANING HE CANT LOOSE MONEY ON THE JOB.). Also the WINDOWS WERE DAMAGED, not one BUT TWO.

I tried to resolve this with him at Better Business Bureau. Mr. Siegel basically stated to call another contractor to resolve problem.

POOR OVERALL IN ALL PERFORMANCE.

"Home owner wanted me to replace a window that is not defective... Even though he was more than willing to pay me to replace it, I will not take money from a customer to do work on a job that I don't agree with just for the sake of doing the work.... The customer was adamant about replacing the window, so I suggested he get someone else to do it..."

It was not that great.  I was not crazy about them.  They sent Mexicans here and I was not satisfied with how they did the work.  They messed up my property and they did an awful job.  They charged too much.

The experience was horrible from start to finish.  Cliff Siegel never made a phone call, all correspondence was by e-mail.  He never extended them the courtesy of respecting their wishes for someone to be present.  He always insisted that work could be done without anyone there.   Repairs were supposed to be done on New Year's eve and Cliff Siegel cancelled because warehouse was closed and rescheduled for the following sunday.  workers showed up 2 1/2 hrs late - - they had already left thinking they were held up yet again.  After many badgering e-mails from Cliff who threatened them with taking them to court and putting a mechanics lien on their house if they didn't let him do the work on their house that week - - Cliff kept on insisting that no one needed to be home to have the work done.  They kept insisting that since Cliff did such a horrible job the first time, someone DID need to be at their for the repairs..  Never once did they refuse to pay Cliff in full, all they asked of him was that they wanted someone to be hone when repairs was done, when the repairs were done to their satisfaction and the dumpster was removed, payment would be made.  Eventually everything was completed but not without much aggrevation and hostility and the roof looks horrible - - it bellies in the front.  They consider Cliff Siegel to be unprofessional, unpleasant, discourteous and his work is subpar.  Please be wary of this company.
Response from Cee Jay Real Estate Development Corp

"While some of what the customer posted is true, other information is inaccuarate and misleading. We always offer to do roofing services when the customer is not home so they dont have to be inconvienced by taking a day off or missing important appointments and meetings. If they so desire to be home during install- of course they are more than welcome. The manufaturer sent the correctly ordered color shingle for the roof and capping; however their appeared to be a slight gradiant difference in the coloring that was not visible until it was installed. So to make the customer happy i removed all the newly installed HIP & RIDGE CAPPING at my expense and installed all new just to keep a customer happy. Next- the customer had old gutters that were worn and in need of replacement, however they chose to leave them on for this project and while it is debateable as to whether or not my ladder leaning against gutter caused any bending to the gutter i once again did what ever it took to make the customer happy and replaced the gutter at my sole expense with a new one to please the customer. Lastly to blame me because the roof sheathing is not completely level on the 2 sides of the ridge is rediculous as i did not construct or replace the sheathing- i merely ripped off and replaced the Asphalt roof shingle. So once again i tried to do everything (as always) to make the customer happy and as the customer stated in their review- "the repairs were done to their satisfaction"... In the end the customer was sour because they wanted a price rebate and felt money should be deducted from thier invoice amount on top of me doing everything i mentioned earlier... This is one of those examples of no matter how hard you try- some customers just cant be pleased.... THE SIGN OF A GOOD CONTRACTOR IS NOT JUST ONE WHO DOES GOOD WORK, BUT ONE WHO IS RECEPTIVE TO CHANGES and PROBLEMS AND ADDRESSE'S THEM IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT QUESTION... and thats what we did and will continue to do for all our customers !!! CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LOYALTY IS EVERYTHING TO US !!!"
