Alvin Card Heating A/C & Appliance Repair

I already submitted a report at the time, so I cannot recall precise details at this time.    A tenant's refrigerator was not keeping foodstuffs cold enough.  I called Mr Card who then called the tenant, and they made arrangements for the repair.  When completed, Mr Card informed me of his fee, and I sent him a check.  The refrigerator has been working without issue since that time.  I have used Mr Card on several occasions for appliance repairs, and I have always been satisfied with his professionalism and prices.

Alvin Card had been referred to me by a fellow landlord several years ago, and I've used his appliance services on several occasions since then. I submitted a report on him several months ago. In this instance, after the tenant informed me of the problem, I called Mr Card on Monday, September 13, 2010. He returned the call later in the day, and we set the appointment for today, Wednesday, September 15, 2010, between 9:30-10:00am. En route, to the building, I called Mr Card to inform him that I would be delayed because there was an accident on the parkway. So I would arrive closer to 10:00am than 9:30am. Upon arrival, I called him again, and he was already there. As above, no repair was necessary. Mr Card only charged me $40.00 for the service call. As I previously reported, Mr Card is prompt, thorough, and courteous. Reliability and proficiency are important to me as I do not live in the area where my building is located. I must trust the serviceman to keep an appointment with either my tenant or myself and to do the repair with competence and efficiency. I recommend him highly, and I will use him again for tenants' appliances and certainly for appliances in my home..

On June 8, 2010, a new tenant was en route from Maryland to Staten Island to occupy an apartment. She had contacted the electric and gas companies to put service in her name. Because gas service had been turned off for this apartment, a serviceman was scheduled to restart the gas that day, and I had gone to the building to meet him. After reconnect the gas supply, he checked out the hot water heater in the cellar and ascended to the apartment to check out the gas stove. The top burners worked fine, but he couldn't get the oven to work and suggested I call an appliance repairman to replace the heating element to the stove's electronic ignition. It was early afternoon, so I promptly called an appliance service that I had used many times in the past hoping to have the repair completed that day while I was at the location. Despite misgivings with the rude and defensive individual who had answered the phone, I made an appointment for the following day. After another very unpleasant conversation with this individual the following day to confirm the appointment, I hung up after he started cursing. A friend gave me the name and phone number of Mr Alvin Card, and I left him a message. We made an appointment for Friday morning, June 11th, and I confirmed with the tenant. Mr Card visited the apartment within the scheduled time span, left to purchase the specific part, and returned whereupon he repaired the stove. He called me later that day and informed me that the service call and repair came to $140., and I sent him a check.
