All Angles' estimate, money-wise, was about in the middle of the estimates we got (from 8 different companies) for the job we needed done. Tony presented himself as a contractor, and said he'd have a team of guys, including an experienced plumber and electrician. This was not the case - he pretty much planned on doing the whole job himself. On a couple of days, he did have another one or two guys in. If he could've gotten the job done on time, that's be one thing - but pretty soon it was evident that he planned on doing 4-6 hours of work per day; which meant there was no way it was going to get done on time. He always showed up hours later, and left hours earlier than promised. Every day, there was some kind of unprofessional excuse, usually some kind of made up family emergency. (Seriously, a different sob story every day). He'd say, "I'm going out for lunch, be back in half an hour" - and show up four hours later, or not at all. 3 days before the job deadline, with nothing near done, we received an email trying to extort money from us by trying to raise the price of the job by $5000. (50%!) if we wanted the job done on time. Luckily, we had a signed contract which made that not possible. They tried to play it off like a 'good cop, bad cop' thing with Tony being all smiley and genial, while his wife sent frankly insulting and rude e-mails. After we made clear that we weren't going to be blackmailed, work got even slower, and shoddier. ("All Angles" apparently refers to how things will be installed crookedly!) A week after the deadline, we paid him in full just to get rid of him, even though not all the promised work was completed. He had the nerve to ask for a bonus! As it is, we already did pay for about $1000. extra in supplies that according to the contract should've been paid for by him. Even worse, since last month, we have had to pay about $1000. more to have other workmen come in to fix things All Angles screwed up - we had to have all the pipes for the new bathroom sink torn out and replaced, as they were installed wrong, we had to have a new door hung, because he screwed up the frame. He also broke the existing kitchen sink, meaning I'm going to have to have a new one put in. We still have to do something about the cracked, warped sheet of plastic he installed as a 'custom' window, and we have yet to get an electrician in to figure out why FOUR of my light fixtures are now not working (He somehow disconnected them, and when I asked what happened, he said "I don't know.") After trying to deal with all this, to top it all off, I randomly received another unprofessional text message last week with ANOTHER sob story, telling me about how some family member of his is dying, which means I am somehow a horrible person. If you want a guilt trip placed on you for having the temerity to want the agreed-upon job done in a timely manner, or if you enjoy being blackmailed, this is the guy to hire.
