The project went great. Joe was a pleasure to work with. Very passionate about his work and his business. He came in at by far the lowest price for a 100% new roof and did a fantastic job. His guys were on time, worked fast, and cleaned up after themselves. When we found some issues under our old roof Joe and his team fixed some of the conditions for free without us asking and worked with us to find affordable solutions to solve the others. Over all he was very easy to work with and we will be working with him again in the future. Its good to know I now have a roofer I can trust to do a good job for a great price!

Workers were efficient and job was completed on time to my satisfaction. Minor adjustments were taken care of without delay or fuss. I like the new look and am pleased with the job. Joe was a considerate overseer for the work.

In April 2015, ACJ Remodeling -Joseph Ashley installed a full-deck 5/8-inch plywood roof, an Owens-Corning Total Protection Roofing System, new soffits, fascia, gutters and leaders on my brother's 1900-era house in Richmond Hill, Queens. Joe Santillo is the owner of ACJ Remodeling - Joseph Ashley. On October 28, 2015 a driving rainstorm produced a leak in the ceiling of the bay window. The next day my brother called Joe to report the problem. Within a week, two of Joe's men arrived to inspect the bay window roof. The roof was sound. They discovered that the leak originated in the trim beneath the 2nd floor window ABOVE the bay window roof. The rain came in through that trim, ran down inside the wall and onto then through the ceiling. In short order, Joe's men repaired the faulty window trim. There have been no leaks since. Joe Santillo stands behind his work, and more. I'd be happy to recommend ACJ Remodeling - Joseph Ashley to anyone.

Joe did an excellent job with my house. I contacted him at the beginning of the year mainly due all the good reviews and amazing photos of his completed work. He gave me a price that I thought was fair and on top of that he added little details at no extra cost to make the house look even better. We didn't start the work until after six months due to closing delays on my side. One thing that I really liked about Joe is that he was always calling to find out how things were going with closing the deal and he didn't put any pressure on starting the job or changing his price due to my delay. Once his crew started working on the house the results started to be noticeable right away. The replacement of the windows, siding and stucco took less than five days. The front of the house was done in stone as well as the stoop and the front garden anchor stone (this took longer due to detail and craftsmanship required to properly install the stone). My wife and I couldn't be happier with the final results of the house. It came out better than what we expected. Another thing to note is that Joe completed 99% of his contracted work and had to stop because the two front doors that I ordered from Home Depot took an extra two weeks to arrive. In my experience other contractors would have been really annoyed at having to stop the work and have to come back to finish the work. Joe stopped and came back without complaining and finished the work as soon as the doors arrived. Overall my experience with ACJ Remodeling-Joseph Ashley was great and I would definitively use him for any other project that requires his services. He is professional, honest, puntual and more importantly he delivers the product advertised. I would highly recommend ACJ to anyone who is looking for an excellent quality end product at a reasonable price.

Joseph and his crew were very professional. Joseph was very personable and knowledge about the service he offers. The crew came on Wednesday and the job was done by Saturday with a day of rain in between. They did a thorough job and we are greatful. We will definitely recommend them in the future.

The following is an A+ review for Joe and his crew at ACJ - Joseph Ashley. Joe was at a job site a couple miles from where I live when I called him for an estimate. He showed up within an hour. Be prepared when you meet Joe because he has a somewhat of an excess of personality and he can be a little overwhelming. Read on and you?ll see how I came to realize he is proud of his work and justly so. He has morals, knows what?s right, does what he says - - he?s honest. He gave me an estimate, which was somewhere in between the previous estimates. He took out his ipad and typed my address into a program that uses GPS to measure my roof for square footage and would let me know within 24 hours the actual square footage of the roof with a more specific estimate. Then he did something I didn?t expect. He put his ipad down, pushed his sample folders aside and thanked me for giving him a call. He looked at me and said, ?If you don?t like me, you?re not going to hire me. This is a relationship and it has to feel right for you otherwise you will not be comfortable.? At that point I let him continue his presentation. This guy is really passionate about what he does. I couldn?t understand this passion, I mean what the heck, it?s just a roof. The next day he called me with a final quote and it was less than the initial estimate because the calculations from the GPS were adjusted.. I had to go back and read reviews from the different contractors and look at their work again. Just so happens, Joe has done many homes in my neighborhood and 3 on my block. He invited me to go look at a Victorian home he was working on. When I got there I was surprised and impressed. I saw a small army of men and with hardhats and safety harnesses. I haven?t seen many roofers with safety equipment like this. It had an impact on my decision. This is a conscientious company and they are careful and so they would be careful with my home. The guys were friendly and offered me the tour. And of course the craftsmanship was top notch. I was started getting the message. We hired Joseph Ashley as our contractor. A couple of things about Joe: He is a certified Platinum Preferred roofing contractor for Owens Corning and a certified Master Elite roofer for GAF. This involves ongoing training from these manufacturers. To maintain certification you have to keep learning. Working with certified contractors also allows you to receive outstanding warranty protection. He does all types of roofs and all brands of roof tile and shingle. Joe has been in this business over 30 years. He is licensed, insured, bonded and provides workman?s compensation for all his guys. Boy, do we like that. Joe will check in with you at least once a week until the job starts to reassure you work will start on the agreed upon date notwithstanding bad weather. Supplies will be delivered to your home a couple days before work begins. He?ll be there when he says he will. His crew is unbelievable. They arrive on time. They are well-mannered. These guys are always in a good mood. They have experience, are highly skilled. They clean up the mess on a daily basis so it never gets out of control. They will protect your neighbor?s property with tarps and covers and plywood. Whatever it takes, they will take all the necessary precautions so your neighbors will be glad you chose Joe and his crew. His project managers, Angel and Eric are pros in every sense. They listen, they keep an eye on everything, they ask you what you want if something unforeseen comes up. Angel tracked down the type of chimney crown I wanted. It may seem like no big deal but having had my old one blow off and the last roofer not coming back to fix it, I wanted this type of chimney crown installed and Angel made the extra effort to get it. I can't remember everybody's name but they were all awesome, very strong and able to finesse the small details. Applause to Caesar, Joe?s mason, who rebuilt our six and one half foot high, four feet wide, and two feet deep chimney in red brick. What a job and what a result. I walk around the block just to see it from the main street. It looks like a monument. What a fine job. The project was a complete tear off of 3 layers of roof shingle, removal of old cedar shingles. Then installation of plywood on the rafters, and all the membranes, roof paper, drip edges, pipe flanges, copper flashing all around chimney (looks stunning),and then the gorgeous blue/gray high definition shingles that change shades with the time of day. All new gutters and leaders. When things were all coming together, Joe walked around the house with one of his key men and showed him all the places he wanted to be framed or bordered with new white aluminum. The result was akin to putting a frame on a picture. What a beautiful result. Barring a major structural problem, they will not make you sweat the small things. Everything that needs to be put right and look attractive and complete will be done. The whole process is very labor intensive and as a homeowner, can wear you out. Like you, we?ve done tons of research, read endless reviews, looked at so many completed jobs, looked for the best value, done everything we could to be sure we?re choosing the right mix of everything down to the color of the roof. To Joe: We appreciate your helping us stay on track and convincing us to overlook some of the nonsense. It is an absolutely beautiful job. We are very pleased and having gone through all of this we now understand how someone can be passionate over a roof. Several people have pulled over and asked me if I was pleased with the work being performed, including some neighbors, and my answer was and is a resounding yes. In the end, as Joe promised, everything went as planned and he calmed our fears, met all our needs, did as we asked and by far, exceeded all our expectations.

Joe and his team are EXCELLENT!!! He was very patient while I shopped around and got other quotes, and I never felt pressured to select his company. He took alot of time to explain all of the different materials that would be used on the roof and I appreciated that. It took 4 full days for the job to be complete, just in time for the big "hurricane" that still had a significant amount of rainfall, and the roof did not leak AT ALL. They were punctual, professional, and cleaned up afterwards really well. I would highly recommend to anyone who needs a top-quality job done.

We made the contract early in the Summer. Joseph called me when he was ready. It was OK for me. The guys (8) showed up every day at 8:30 and worked until at least 5:00. The work was neat and precise. It took four full days of work.

There was a short wait between the consultation visit and the roofing job, during which the materials were purchased. We had chosen the type of materials and the colors, with some guidance from ACJ. They were very clear about what they could do, how they would do it and how much it would cost. The job, which turned out to be a large one because they had to do a complete removal of our roof down to the framework and replace a leaky skylight, took less than a week once it commenced. As the job progressed, the boss would discuss the daily progress with us at the end of each workday. They also did a decent job of cleaning up after the job was over. On several of the workdays, my husband was not present but I still received updates and was never made to feel like they had to discuss it with the "man of the house" instead of me. I also never felt unsafe in the presence of the guys doing the work and they behaved professionally. The roof looks great and we've had a few major rainstorms without any leakage from the roof or skylight, so it is sound. We did notice a gutter that wasn't draining properly, and called them back, and they came and repaired it in a timely fashion and free of charge. We think that they did a great job and we are very happy with our new roof. They did such a good job that I am fairly sure we will not have to call them again anytime soon and use their services again, but we certainly recommend them to anyone in our area who needs a new roof.

It was a superior job! You wouldn't even know about the new additions by looking at it! There was no need for touch ups anywhere, outside or inside.

This was my first experience with Joseph Ashley and his team at ACJ. I initially reached out to Joseph based on the picture gallery of completed projects on his website in addition to the ratings here on Angie's List. My initial meeting went very well and met all expectations. I was looking for a provider that could both physically complete the project and provide experienced input regarding options (styles, colors, etc.). It was obvious Joseph enjoyed his work when discussing options, even providing available samples to aid in my final selections. The ACJ crew was top notch. They were punctual every morning and made sure to clean up prior to leaving each day. They are skilled craftsmen and were easy to talk to. Joseph made himself available throughout the project and was always willing to discuss questions. The completed project exceeded my expectations. I have received a large number of compliments from neighbors in addition to a number of passers by that felt compelled to stop and discuss. The color and quality of the vinyl siding is very impressive and the stucco work flawless. As they say the devil is in the details and his team capped all applicable windows/openings even replacing some bracing that was being used for existing window air conditioner units I have. Communication, Execution and Quality are all strong suits for the team at ACJ. I have some additional projects coming up in the near future and will not think twice about calling Joseph.

Joe was personable and professional. His employees arrived on time every day and worked diligently, joe checked in with us every day to make sure we were satisfied and immediately addressed any details that were not to our satisfaction. We are highly satisfied, our home looks great, and would recommend joe for any siding job.

This was my second positive experience with Joe Santillo and ACJ Remodeling. Last Spring, he did an amazing transformation of the exterior my home through replacement of the roof, siding, shutters, gutters windows, and doors and painting (see ACJ website before and after). Based on that positive experience with him and his crew, I discussed having ACJ remodel and expand the small shower bath. However, before starting that project, a sudden decline in my disabled husband's condition, created an immediate need for a completely barrier free handicap bathroom. I called Joe, and he responded promptly. He proposed that he would have to enlarge the bathroom by 2 feet in order to move the shower drain and ensure that water would not flow out of the bathroom. Luckily, we had interior space for the expansion. But, a small doorway had to be eliminated and replaced with a new section of wall for which they matched existing panelling and paint . Joe's bathroom crew gutted the existing bath and retiled the floor, walls and ceiling, replaced all fixtures, grab bars, toilet, and sink and installed new recessed lighting and an exhaust fan. The work was done with the utmost precision. And as with my first experience, this crew, too, was incredible. The bathroom is beautiful and has been described as looking like a Spa. The before and after pictures are on ACJ's website. Next, Joe transformed the other small shower bath, by expanding into an unused closet, creating a larger shower with sliding doors. Here, too, the existing bathroom was gutted. Again with precision, the walls, floor and shower were completely tiled and the ceiling painted. The room's small dimensions presented a challenge when I wanted a sink with a vanity. However, the crew was creative and retrofitted a small vanity to suit the limited space and even created a duct running from a heat vent, now behind the vanity, to a new vent installed on the side of the vanity. My family raves about the new shower bath. Throughout, these projects, Joe and his crew were pleasantly responsive to all questions, requests and concerns. I highly recommend Joe Santillo and ACJ Remodeling for bathroom renovation as well as roofing, etc..

This is the 2nd complete roofing job that ACJ Remodeling - Joseph Ashley has done for me and again, I am supremely pleased with the results. Owner Joe Santillo knows his business and is a pleasure to work with. His crew is large, competent and hard-working. Day 1 - The crew removed the original cedar shingle roof fastened to nailers (furring strips) placed about 6-inches apart. The original cedar had been covered with three layers of asphalt shingles. A full deck roof of 5/8-inch plywood was nailed to the existing nailers. The existing soffits and fascia were removed. Debris was collected in tarps that had been draped down the walls and lain on the ground alongside the house. All debris was removed. Joe came and inspected the work. Day 2 - The crew installed the Owens-Corning Total Protection Roofing System and new soffits and fascia. All debris was removed. Joe came and inspected the work. Day 3 - The gutter crew came and installed the new gutters and leaders. Joe came and inspected the roof and accepted final payment. I could not be happier with the work and would not hesitate to recommend ACJ Remodeling - Joseph Ashley to anyone. Neighbors and passers-by comment on the positive transformation of the house.

I was so disappointed. I used him the first time around and it was an okay job. They did it in a reasonable period of time. I had to call them back twice because of leaks. I asked for some more work to be done and he told me the shingles were from GAF. He said he had those shingles and I said I just needed a small amount of them because I was taking out two skylights and putting in three skylights. I planned to do the work inside. All I wanted him to do was to take out a small portion where the skylights are and that was it. I needed three tiny skylights put in. He told me $6,000. I can roof my whole home for $10,000. The size I needed done was about 8 x 10. I told him that was ridiculous and he agreed, but said he had the shingles. I was very dissatisfied with this guy. He was dreadful. It was just awful. I would have given them a better grade if it was not for the owner, Joe Ashley, who is just a vile human being. He was crude. The work he did do was reasonable; it was okay. On their second time around with me, I would give them an F. The contract has warranties built into it.

I did not hire ACJ remodel through Angie's lists. Instead I called him and ask Joseph to come back to do this project. He installed a beautiful siding of my home 4 and half years ago. Because he did an excellent job on my siding project. I decided to hire him again to this project. I had the same crew that installed my siding. They are very professionally. They start the job on time and clean up after themselves every day. The owner Joseph came very often to check the progress and check with me for any concern. He always on top of every thing. If you have any concerns, he will address them promptly without any delay. He is a very honestly contractors. You cannot find a better home remodeling contractor. His price is very reasonable compare to his service. I will definitely hire him again for any future home improvement projects.

They were just very unprofessional. They need to be more professional in how they speak to customer and be more clear about what services they offer and what they don't offer. I called them once and someone answered, stated the business name, and then hung up the phone. I called back and spoke to them. He was very rude and unprofessional and after answering my questions, he hung up on me again.

When my parents told me that they signed a contract with Home Depot to replace their roof and siding last year, I did some research online and the horrific experience of other homeowners made me to worry. I asked my parents to get their refund since the contract was still within 3 days cancellation period. Then I signed up with Angie?s List to see if I could find someone better. Through careful review, I narrowed down to two providers. After the scheduled meetings, my parents picked ACJ Remodeling.. Our experience with ACJ Remodeling has been positive. Joe, the owner, has been very responsive to our queries and concerns, and his crew did a wonderful job on the roof and siding ? my parents have received praises from others. ACJ Remodeling also did a good cleanup job during and after the work was completed. My parents were very happy with this because they would hate their neighbor to complain about any debris lying around. Also worth to mention, my parents also liked the siding ACJ Remodeling used, which has a very thick layer of contoured insulation, and they noticed a huge difference in the last winter because the house felt much warmer than usual. Please also note, I waited a while for this review because I purchased additional GAF Gold Pledge Protection ($450) for extended warranty. With this warranty, GAF would send an inspector 5 to 6 months later to check up on the roof, which my parents? house received 10 out of 10.

Joseph Santillo came to our home to give an estimate and gave us some addresses of homes where we could view his work and the shingles in person. I had my heart set on the Certainteed Grand Manor shingle with the corresponding underlayment for this shingle. It was a total roof tear-off with the soffits changed too. Some new plywood had to be installed and the flashing around the chimney was aluminum not copper.He told us he would be able to do the work 6-8 weeks after the estimate. We liked Joe so we waited for him to do the job. There were some issues , like there would be on any job, but Joe fixed all the glitches.Joseph delivered all that he promised and on time too.

The job went great! I met with two other roofers, and Joe was the most professional and knowledgeable. His crew moved like a well oiled machine and he stopped in numerous times during the day and called to see how the job was going. Great guy, even better business ethic. I would recommend him again and again. With that said, I'd use him again and again.

Overall the work went very well. The workmanship of the team was excellent as they did a wonderful job on the house. There were some hiccups: They were not able to start until 3 weeks after the original start date, they unintentionally buried the cable lines behind some leaders/siding & the clean up was not the best as we found a lot of nails, screws and siding pieces around the house. My suggestion to Joe would be to schedule jobs with a bit more cushion as not only did the job start late but on the last day they were rushing to complete in the dark which lead to some some of the hiccups noted.

Joe Ashley loves what he does and you will to. We knew we needed a new roof and siding, but were not sure about colors, patterns etc. Joe came and treated our house like it was his. Over several visits he showed us samples, gave us places to visit, looked up examples on the internet and helped us design a thing of beauty. He offered suggestions without being overbearing and then executed the plan flawlessly. His crew showed up on time, cleaned up at the end of the day and worked in a professional manner. Joe was always available at any hour of the day to answer questions, discuss changes and provide updates. At the end of the project we looked at our house and just said, "wow."

I was very impressed with Joseph Ashley from ACJ Remodeling Inc. Joseph, the owner of the company took my initial call, went out of his way to follow up and come to my house promptly even though I didn't have any immediate problems. He was very patient with me, ensured my safety climbing up the hatchway to the roof(s), took his time to explain the condition of the roof tops and what to expect in terms of their life span, pointed out some issues from tenants installing satellite dishes on the roof surface and provided me with a game plan for their care. In the end, he advised me that I have some time before I need to redo my roof tops and provided me with a general estimate for the future jobs so I know what to expect. Overall, I found Joseph to be fair, honest, very professional, extremely knowledgeable and a good guy. I will definitely hire him for the job when it comes time to replace/repair my roof tops and recommend him to anyone looking for a great resource and professional roofer.

So I'm a bit late putting up this review? And yes, I'm reminded to put it up because I'm going to be calling Joe again for a couple of projects (like today)?lol. Here's the deal, we purchased a home in dead of the brutal winter of 2013-2014? It came with a roof that had bubbles and pockets filled with gallons of water that was leaking into the house and causing loss of heat? At first we were gonna weather it and wait until the spring, but the problem was too big to let it go. We called about five people to give us estimates, and let me tell ya -there a whole lot of contractors preying on people's ignorance about roofing? At least two contractors (one not licensed) recommended addressing our issues using the "torching" which is illegal. When confronted about it, one contractor actually told us that he had as "special permit" that allowed him to use the illegal method -crazy! Along came Joeseph? First thing he did was show is credentials and tell me "even if you don't go with me, make sure whoever you go with is licensed and has some other credentials I can't remember. After that he went, investigated and recommended a full replacement? Even better he gave me a price that, by all accounts was a really good price! His team came in like an army and went to work, completing the project in 4 days? The foreman was really professional and was there for constant communication as Joe's representative. At one point there was a slight mix-up with some materials chosen and Joe went the extra mile to come up with a solution that was fair and kept us confident in the job he was going to do. In the end I was not only happy with our new roof (now months later still very happy) but also feel good about Joe as a person and a professional...

We were exceptionally pleased with the finished product. The workers were professional, expedient, accommodating and flexible. Every aspect of the job was done with careful attention to detail. We could not been more pleased with the job and would highly recommend this company to others looking to do the same type of work.
