+ -1 moreAfter getting several estimates, I am so glad I didn't choose the cheapest one, but went with countywide tree & crane. The owner, John Frontino, was knowledgeable & I felt like he really cared about my property. He also had such an appreciation & love of trees, he made me more enthusiastic about my yard. More importantly, after he finished his expert trimming, the whole neighborhood fell in love with my trees! The whole process took about a week longer than expected, but that was mostly due to rain. Also, because I live in ulster county, I was flexible with the time frame, which helped keep the price down. It was so amazing to watch them hopping from limb to limb with such ease you'd think they were on land instead of ft off the ground. It cost more than the quoted price, but they ended up doing a lot more work than originally discussed & I think it was a steal for all the extra work. My yard went from looking overgrown & neglected to looking like a perfectly maintained park-like oasis filled with majestic, beautiful, centuries old trees. No one else recognized the sickness of the rotted out oak next to the house and I shudder to think what may have happened had it stayed. I was embarrassed by my yard and now my trees are the envy of the block! Neighbors kept stopping to ask for his card. John even called me a week or so after they finished to make sure I was satisfied. If I ever have a tree issue, I'll never use anyone else. I even recommended him to my mom & dad.
Description of Work: I have a 1 acre wooded lot, that had been neglected for years. I lost count of the trees he removed, but they included 4 dead trees over 100 ft tall, 3 dying spruce trees, and a dying oak well over 100 ft tall. The oak tree easily would have taken out the entire house if it fell. Every other company, including certified arborists, said the tree was perfectly healthy. John took one look at it, & said it had to come down. I almost didn't let him, but thank goodness I did!! When they took it down you could see that the entire tree was rotted out in the center!! The tree had been buried decades ago, so the stump was 6ft underground!! As I said, even the much more expensive certified arborist thought that tree was healthy. During the subsequent hurricane, I was so relieved that tree was gone. He pruned all the dead wood out of my 150+ft white pines and all the remaining trees. He removed a huge limb hanging just feet above the roof, expertly scooping it up & away from the roof with the crane as soon as it was cut. I wish I was better at describing just how difficult that removal was. As I said, I lost count, but they removed 15-30 trees.
