Sunny Days Painting

About us

SUNNY DAYS PAINTING was created in 1997 by Brian Beachner. Brian started out painting in the early nineties as a “weekend warrior” helping a childhood friend with his own painting business. What was supposed to be a way to make a little extra money turned out to be much more. He realized he was good enough to start his own business, one that emphasized customer service. Sunny Days has been growing since the beginning with a client list that includes well known doctors, lawyers, THE Mayor, Deputy Mayor, city councilman, county legislators, business owners, fellow contractors, and many, many homeowners all over NY state. Our crew of employees represent over 70 years experience in painting and home improvement and are all dedicated to their craft as artisans. We have been recognized as a preferred contractor by the LANDMARK SOCIETY and have worked closely with several neighborhood associations. Most Recently Brian made the tough decision to leave the business due to health and family reasons. After Careful consideration Ray Colon, a long time painter with Sunny Days decided to keep the legacy and reputation for quality work and customer service alive at Sunny Days. Ray has assumed all the day to day activities and is the proud owner of Sunny Days Painting! Brian will consult with Ray during the transition.

Brian came out in August, but let me know they might not get to it until the spring. Brian contacted me in March to go over the job again and get a deposit, and work started at the end of April. I appreciated that I was first on their list in the spring, just as he had promised. The whole job took about two weeks (with a few days lost due to rain). However, the job didn't go as smoothly as it should have. The on-site manager, Ray, was a nice guy to work with, but seemed unaware of the promised scope of the job. I kept having to point out to Ray things his team had missed that should have been done. For example, painting the back sides of the shutters (yes, they don't show if the shutters are open, but the paint is necessary for protection from the elements), and removing the storm windows on the conservatory room to paint the mullions on the windows. The long passage of time between scoping the job and doing the work may have contributed to the misunderstandings. I also understand Brian is dealing with a family illness and perhaps he is usually more involved on the ground. I had to devote more time to managing the project than should have been necessary. On the positive side, each time one of these questions arose, Brian would intervene and solve the problem. When I asked him to come go over progress with me, he did so promptly. When I pointed out a few things missed at our final walk-through, he had someone here the next day to finish up. This is clearly a company that believes the "customer is always right", and in the end they did whatever it took to complete the job to my satisfaction. I would recommend them and will use them again with the following caveats -- make sure the quote is extremely specific about all the work to be done, and make sure you go over it with the team on the ground before they start work.

Front porch on 100 year-old house was badly deteriorated and one of the support columns was sinking, dropping the porch roof on one side a good 3-4".  Porch roof was jacked back up and supported temporarily while demo of the porch was completed.  Frame was rebuilt with pressure-treated wood, using beefy 6x6s for posts on the old footings.  Deck was built with tongue-and-groove fir boards, just like the original porch was built with.  Rotted columns were replaced with fiberglass columns that very closely matched the originals.  Railings were site built and matched the the style of the house (and the other porch for the 2nd apartment).  Lattice around the bottom of the deck was "picture framed" giving it a solid, quality look.  Super happy with the finished product, it's a solidly built, quality porch that no doubt will last for another 100 years.

Found original clapboards to match existing.  Great job striping paint and you can't tell which boards are new!  Nice job - very happy with the crew.

Excellent.

Received estimate in Spring (april?) - was uncertain he'd be able to fit us in before winter but there was a nice patch of weather in November and his crew was able to strip and paint house before the cold weather set in. Asked for an extra coat of paint at the last minute and they were very accommodating. It looks fantastic and has bonded in a way that makes us feel secure that this paint job will last. Thank you Sunny Days!

I couldn't have had a better experience or a better finished result.
From the day I first contacted Brian, to the day he wrapped up work, I found Brian and his team to be not only talented, but responsive, accommodating, professional and friendly. Brian helped me plan my project by brainstorming colors, looking at photos and talking me through what the process would be. We worked out a schedule he kept to, and he made sure I was satisfied with results each step of the way.
He and his team showed up when expected, did the work as planned, and at the end of each day my house was left clean and organized. Because of their thorough attention to detail, the whole project was barely an intrusion on our daily life.
I found Brian extremely flexible, easily adding on projects I hadn't originally planned for (like the addition of crown molding). I had no idea what a one-stop shop Sunny Days actually is. They are able to provide a comprehensive array of services well beyond residential painting. It will be the first company we will contact in the future for any remodeling or home repair needs.
As I keep repeating, and quot;I got exactly what I asked for and exactly what I wanted!and quot; I absolutely love the look of my kitchen and believe I got excellent value from my investment in this work. I would highly recommend Sunny Days Painting and Remodeling.

It was painted at the end of the season.   It seemed ok.
After a few weeks, the newly shingled parts stood out from the rest of the house.   Perhaps it was the light
Also, the window trim was changed from green to white.   Some of the green bled through.
I started to email the Brian on April 10th.   After numerous emails and phone calls, he finally looked at the house
in the middle of August, agreed it didn't look right (we both figured it needed another coat of paint).   In addition, some of the paint showed signs of weathering (which shouldn't happen in less than a year).  He said give him a few weeks.
Its becoming a joke.  My emails now go unanswered,  I sent emails about middle and endof september that went unanswered.
I began making weekly calls and its always an excuse and "We'll get to it next week".
I probably am going to have to hire someone else next year to finish the job.

Update: 7/2015 -- more weathering shows up -- I've been in the house 25 years and the previous paint job lasted over 10 -- I'll be lucky to get 5 out of this paint job.

"I make no excuse, we have been slow to get back and take care of these two warranty issues. All I can do is promise that we will. We have never left anyone hanging on warranty issues before and don't intend to now. We are a small company and because of that, it can sometimes be challenging to free someone up. Weather has been a huge factor this exterior season, more than any other in memory."

Sunny Days is an absolute relief!!
We've all had horror stories ... but Brian Beachner made this about the best contractor experience I have ever had. I am thoroughly satisfied, would use again, and would recommend to anyone willing to listen. On-time, on schedule and on-budgert ... that's the bottom line. Friendly crew ... kept me informed of progress when the boss was between jobs ... cleaned up and everything neat when they left for the day. Price quoted was the price paid, except for one additional task that was well-communicated and negotiated beforehand ... and, as it turned out, it was something that made a dramatic difference to the street view of the house. Thanks a million.,

It has been a pleasure to do business with Brian and the Sunny Days' team. They are professional, friendly, respectful, and do a great job! Brian came to the site himself to start and finish jobs, and he stopped by often to check on his crew and how things were going (if he was not there working himself). He was also VERY patient as I was trying (by trial and error) to find just the right paint color. When they first painted our home, we had twin newborn babies and the entire crew was so respectful and understanding... asking first before pounding on shingles, knocking quietly on the door if they needed anything, etc. They were also very careful about locking our gate for the dog. These acts sound small, but when you are sleep deprived and overwhelmed with two babies, it is so, so appreciated! The crew left things clean each night, took care of all equipment, and worked really hard the entire time they were there. Of course, when the house needed touching up in a few places this year, we called Brian. Again, the paint looks great!! Despite the insane heat the days he was here, the painter Mike worked so hard to get the work done for us! Sunny Days is not the cheapest in town, but it's also not the most expensive... and you'll get high quality, trustworthy work from a reliable, local businessman who is involved in the work on site and seems able to attract and keep very good, decent people on his crew.

The painters did a great job- quick, clean, and courteous. We had paint matches for them to pick up and blend. Job was completed in 3 days. The owner communicated throughout and followed up immediately afterwards with us. Would certainly call again for future painting.

Brian did exterior painting for us last summer and did a great job, so we called him again when we needed interior work done. He responded promptly to our calls and was available to do the job with in a couple of weeks. His team was friendly and professional. They did some drywall and ceiling repair as well as painting several rooms (walls and ceilings) in our home. The drywall work was tricky but they did a great job, and you would never know a repair has been made to the area. The guys cleaned up well after the job, and even put our furniture back in place. We would not hesitate to call Brian in the future for painting or other repair work in our home.

Sunny Day Painting and Home Services came highly recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed! Brian and his team of 5 painters did an excellent job. The work took 8 working days. They arrived each morning on time and worked solidly throughout the day, generally finished just before 5pm. They always left the house neat and tidy. Ray, the foreman, checked in with us each day and kept us up to speed with progress and any matters that arose that needed a decision. We also greatly appreciated the minimal damage to the flowers and bushes that surrounded the house. The end result is a beautiful looking house, who could ask for more. Without hesitation, we highly recommend Sunny Day Painting and Home Services Services to any home owner. Brian quoted an excellent price, (another contractor quoted twice as much for the same job), delivered an excellent finished product and employs a very professional and courteous team of painters.

I sort of did just above. They were very good. They were a couple of weeks late in getting started due to the delay on the job before ours, but once they were here, they were fully on the job and got it done in 2 weeks. It's a big house, so I was pleased that they could get it done in 2 weeks. They were also very neat. The front of the house had a lot of detail work, and they were great. I definitely recommend Brian and Sunny Days.

The crew was on time in the morning and done before 4 pm each day. They were very neat, and did a very thorough job scraping and sanding the peeling paint. All painting was done with a brush, not a sprayer. The entire job took about 4 days, and they left the area clean when they were finished. We were very pleased and would certainly use them in the future.

They were great and very professional. They were on time, came when they said they were going to. They were done within the day. They did all the power washing and sanding. They did the prep work and stained the deck with two coats. They were in and out. The job turned out wonderful.

Brian came rapidly to give me an estimate and his price was good. But then it took him 6 MONTHS to finally show up when he originally told me it would be 4 weeks. Quality of the job was not great -- some areas were pretty sloppy. He's a nice guy and means well, but I wouldn't use them again unless price is the sole consideration.

"Hi, This is Brian Beachner. Just wanted to drop a note in response to this feedback. Member, if you would like to give me a call anytime I would be happy to rectify any issues you had with our work. In 2008 we were not aware of any issues as we always stand behind what we do. In fact, in 2009 we began giving a written 5 year warranty with all our work and I would be happy to retroactively give you the same."

Home required major prep work which took many days. Upon finishing prep, the house was primed and two coats of high quality paint was applied. Quality of workmanship is outstanding. Painters were highly skilled and offered valuable suggestions; which improved the overall appearance of my home.
