We had 2 install dates, first was the living room, stairs, and large hallway. 2nd week a different group of installers came to complete 3 bedrooms. One installer proudly said he’s a drywaller no carpet experience. They broke a shelf in my son’s closet, incorrectly seamed EVERY seam, cut the carpet on our front lawn (we have 4 large dogs), and one guy went into a closed room that even had a dresser blocking the door. When he was caught, he just said he wanted to see what was in there. When trying to resolve the seam issues, they were less than helpful but about a month or so later had ordered more carpet came to “fix” the issue and that’s when it was evident there was a manufactures defect with all the carpet. Took a sample to send to Mohawk, a month later defect confirmed. New carpet ordered, installed, stair left with a gap, and it’s again falling apart like the previous lot. Contacted the GM and owner, we’re told that’s the price of doing business, they refuse to sit down and talk to us and demanded the $1,000 balance after we’ve lived through 4 months of our house being a disaster and having to move the furniture multiple times. We basically paid them thousands to trash our house. Run from this company, they are scammers and will not work with you to resolve issues when things go wrong.

I stopped into the store in Webster to get a quote on hardwood floors for my second floor. I didn't have a sample and the salesman was insistent on not bringing a sample board out to my house. I travel quite a bit so it's inconvenient for me to take a board as i wouldn't be able to return it in a timely fashion. Finally, he agrees to send someone out with a sample board to match up with my existing floor. He takes my number and information and says someone will call me a day or 2 before my appointment. Never received a call. When I went back to the store he told me that he didn't send anyone over because I never took the sample board. He was very unwilling to help and unprofessional. When I asked to speak to a manager he replied "that's basically me." I would not recommend this company.

$3,600
Update 07/26: The company's Chief Operating Officer contacted me after seeing my online reviews and made things right.

My Original 07/06 Review is as follows:

Four months of this ordeal that cost us $3,600, just to be left with carpeting that is falling apart.
They kept messing up and would each time promise they would not stop till they got things right. The last thing resulted in a seam days later starting to fall apart. They said they video-taped in our home (without our knowledge) and are claiming the video is proof of a job well done. It takes days of vacuuming to reveal a bad seam, when fibers start coming out. They refused to fix this seam.

Details: First the salesman sold us one carpeting and ordered a cheaper one. The manager then ordered the correct carpeting. Then the padding was not right, and it was replaced. That resulted in two seams days later starting to fall apart. The seams could not be fixed, so new carpeting was fully installed in one bedroom and partially installed in the other. That resulted in another seam days later starting to fall apart. The manager told me that the maker of the carpeting and padding, Mohawk Carpeting would not reimburse Christian Flooring. This means that the blame is fully on Christian Flooring. Christian Flooring does not want to lose any more money on us and refuses to even talk to us now. --Problems on the stairs presented later.

They were very good. They did a great job. It was a very comparable floor to what we had and installation was very smooth. We've used them before and we will use them again.

My wife went out with the dimensions of our dining room and got several bids for carpeting it.  Sail On Carpets had the carpet she liked the best  and also had the best price of $1250.  She made an appointment to have their man come out to see the room and confirm the sale. Dan arrived on time and measured the room.  He said  his measurements were quite a bit less than the ones my wife brought to the store. The difference in measurements would enable them to carpet the room with one piece of carpet and there would be no seams.  This would reduce the price to about $750.  We were impressed with their honesty as well as their workmanship and would highly recommend them.

I would rate that experience as excellent.  I like their honesty in the quoting. It took us a long time to decide what we wanted, but they were really informative and not pushy.  They went out and found an item they didn't have to keep our business.  They worked with us until we were satisfied that it was correct.

I had two completely different experiences with SailOn: The salesperson was very friendly and helpful and since it was my first time buying carpet spent a lot of time walking me through the options and making sure I felt comfortable making a decision. She made it very easy to check out samples to view at home and was low-pressure. The installation service was a different matter. It took multiple phone calls to get the installation manager to schedule the install even when I made it clear up front that the install needed to be completed by a certain date. It was a complex install due to a very oddly shaped room, uneven floor, etc., so I emphasized to the install manager that he should schedule an experienced crew for the job. That suggestion apparently went unheeded. The installers arrived late and were very unprofessional. I'll make myself sound old, but it was a bunch of kids who seemed to have installed maybe a couple carpets before but were far from experts. They damaged paint on the walls on corners where they rubbed the rough underside of the carpet, the made very poor seams with lots of threads showing and making it very obvious where the seams are. A few days later I called to complain about the bad seams and they sent out the very same crew again to "fix" it. They didn't do much. To this day the seams are an eyesore. To summaraize, from a sales perspective I was extremely happy with Sail On Carpets. I'd definitely consider buying carpet from the them again. However, I would schedule my own installers because their installation crew is very poor.

I had called around for estimates and this was the best deal. Met with the salesman, picked out the carpet on a Thursday. The next day, someone came to measure, and it was installed the following Wednesday. The installers actually arrived earlier than expected, and completed the job efficiently and professionally.

Installers showed-up almost two hours late, and intended to leave all of their debris at the site after being told there is no trash service. One installer spent as much time on his cell phone as he did installing the product. Installation is minimally acceptable. Too bad for them, because this was a test job prior to having 2k sq ft of hardwood installed in another house.

Installed hardwood floor one day and then carpet the next. Showed up and very pleasant. T moulding was not the correct color but was fixed with no issue. Sales man under stated estimate by $20 so increased estimate and gave us $20 out of pocket. Owner wonderful and very helpful on hardwood floor care. Installers great,

Everything went great. They had lots of remnants to choose from, and were able to schedule an installation within 1 week of placing the order. The crew arrived right on time, and the install only took about an hour. This is the second time we have used Sail On, and were again pleased with the results.

We had carpeting installed in a small bedroom that was to be our nursery. The salesman was very helpful and patient, and let us take samples home. Since the baby was due in two weeks, they were able to do a rush install on the carpet (it was a remnant) so we could get all the furniture put together in time. The installers were quick and neat, and we're very happy with the job!

Sail On Carpets is a fine carpet store. They have a huge selection and are very willing and eager to help you with the right selection for your home. They came when they said they would to measure and then they came on time for the installation as well. They're good.

THE INSTALLER DID AN EXCELLENT JOB LAYING OUT THE TWO-COLOR DIAGONAL CHECKERBOARD PATTERN FLOOR AND IT LOOKED PERFECT RIGHT AFTER IT WAS INSTALLED. HOWEVER, HE FIRST COMPLAINED ABOUT HAVING TO DISCONNECT, MOVE, AND RECONNECT OUR SLIDE-IN GAS RANGE (ALTHOUGH WE HAD AGREED TO PAY AN EXTRA CHARGE FOR THIS), AND THEN HE RECONNECTED THE RANGE INCORRECTLY CAUSING A GAS LEAK WHICH WAS ''RED-TAGGED'' BY RG&E. WE COULD NOT USE THE RANGE FOR THREE DAYS, AND NOW IT IS NO LONGER LEVEL AND DOES NOT FIT PROPERLY IN THE SPACE DESIGNED FOR IT. WITHIN A FEW WEEKS, THE FLOOR BEGAN TO DEVELOP VISIBLE RIDGES OR HUMPS. THERE ARE NOW SEVERAL LONG (APPROX. 4')RIDGES, ALONG WITH OTHER HUMPS, AND TILES ARE STARTING TO SEPARATE AT THE SEAMS IN SOME PLACES. WE HAVE CALLED AND DOCUMENTED THIS IN A LETTER TO THEM. AT FIRST THEY SAID THE SUBFLOOR MUST HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE.(BOTH THE ESTIMATOR AND THE INSTALLER EXAMINED THE SUBFLOOR BEFOREHAND; NEITHER ONE MENTIONED ANY PROBLEM.) NOW THEY'RE JUST IGNORING US.
Response from Christian Flooring - Greece

"The member purchased VCT tile from our store for installation in their kitchen. At the time of purchase, they specifically stated that their contractor (who was doing other carpentry work for them) was going to install the plywood underlayment required for the installation. We installed the tile over the supplied underlayment. Several weeks late, visible irregularities appeared in the floor. We inspected the floor on 2 occasions. There were no deficiencies in the work we performed. There are problems with movement with either the underlayment or the subfloor below it which are telegraphing to the surface. We have advised her that these problems need to be addressed by the contractor who installed the underlayment. The gas range, a professional model, did present difficulties reinstalling. We have advised her that we will pay for a professional reinstallation at our expense. We have further suggested that she have the job inspected by a Certified Independent Flooring Inspector. Should the findings of such an inspection demonstrate that our installation as contracted is the cause of the failure of the floor, we will gladly replace the floor and underlayment at our expense and reimburse the inspection fee. -Dennis Permoda, President"

The salesman, Dan, was very helpful, attentive and patient. We were allowed to take samples home twice, including a large piece that he had to detach from the display. He explained financing options clearly. We did not finance, however. We told him that we wanted to do both the kitchen and family room, and he wrote up the order in that way. When Angelo (?) came to measure, he thought we were going to do both rooms. When we told him that we were not, he thought we might need to tear up the vinyl in order to make sure that the carpet was even with the kitchen floor. Jeff and Austin, the installers, were excellent. They were highly skilled, and knowledgable. They explained that we did not have to tear out the old floor, and suggested a way to compensate for the height issue if we ever decided to do the family room. This saved us almost $200. They advised us as to the best way to lay the vinyl and how to clean it. We would certainly suggest that others ask for them to do their work

Sail On Carpets is located close to our home, so we stopped in one day to see what they had to offer. They showed us various styles and colors. It was a very professional installation, although it was a while before they could get here to do it.

The reason I chose Sail On Carpets is I am a realtor and I seen the work they do in my models of my house. They do good quality and have a trustful crew. I was happy with them and would use them again.

Sail On Carpets is very professional and clean. The sales staff was very helpful when I was selecting the carpet. Once they came to install it, they worked a lot of hours to get the whole job finished in one day. I was very satisfied.
