They were tops. Best decision going with these guys. Everyone that sees my new kitchen says it looks like a different house. My wife and I are very very pleased with our new kitchen. If I need work done in the future I will not hesitate to call Neil back to do the work.
In the kitchen we kept the existing cabinets but needed to update the room badly. We replaced the counter top with a quartz counter and for the backsplash we used 4x4 tiles installed in diamond patterns. The electrician fixed faulty wiring at no extra cost and installed new outlets and under cabinet lighting. We also replaced the floor in the kitchen and entryway. With extra touches like a new, over the oven, exhaust fan and new cabinet knobs, the room is now much brighter and has a welcoming rustic feel.
They also updated my half bath with a new vanity, light and comfort height toilet. They also put in a new outlet for me, and removed an old fashioned, in the way, built into the wall, towel bar to make my updates fit and look better. I went for a semi-vintage look in this small half bath and I couldn?t be happier with the results.
The work didn?t stop with the main jobs. They fixed a couple of doors, installed a new CAC vent, installed a comfort height toilet in another bathroom and made sure everything was tiptop before the job ended.
We hired Gibraltar after meeting with the owner Dan. I?ve had a lot of construction done over the years and Dan was the most pleasant I?ve ever met. When you work with Gibraltar you get assigned a project manager and workers with expertise for your project. We were assigned two talented, professional and hard working men. My husband is not easy to please, having been in construction himself for over 20 years, and he spoke very highly of the quality of their work. I most appreciated that the workers? passed on their own insight and experience to prevent me from making some costly mistakes. The owner visited the job sight many times
and chimed in with his own ideas (which sometimes caused more work for the workers at no additional cost) to make the job even better. I truly felt that my happiness was the utmost priority.
When you chose Gibraltar you can work with them in several ways. If you want, they will do the shopping for you, bringing you samples along the way and purchase all the things you need. I chose to do a mix of my own shopping and theirs. We worked
out the finances very equitably and with no disagreements from either side.
Customer satisfaction feels like an understatement when it comes to the owner Dan. He really makes you feel that he wants total happiness from his customers, not just satisfied.
We have several more projects in the future and we expect to do more business with Gibraltar.
Thank you Gibraltar! I love my home!
"In response to your review on 11/1/14, I am addressing your concerns and complaint. To begin with, you stated that we charged much more than others. The fact of the matter is your house is extremely large and in addition we did your roof on a 2 car garage, as well. The job also required removing all of your old wood (cedar shake) which added to the cost of labor and material. We needed to buy all new plywood, take away an enormous amount of old wood and the dumping fees were extra. Secondly, we did the entire job – not a patch job. Thirdly, we have been to your house at least 5 times. Each time we arrived to discuss your concerns, you immediately go into a rage and our men and myself refuse to get into verbal arguments or take your verbal abuse. And fourth, based on severe weather conditions, excessive rainstorms, heavy snows and windstorms this past year, you have never had a leak or called our office for such complaint. Fifth, your complaints are unsubstantiated and you are asking us to do additional work that was never stated in our contract i.e.; siding repairs. Lastly, you failed to state that the balance of the job was never paid. The contract was $24,000, but you paid only $20,000 – the balance is $4,000 and doesn’t warrant that amount to be held back. We are prepared to go legal if necessary and feel we will win the dispute in the courts. For the record, we invite anyone to drive by at the above referred property to inspect the workmanship performed by Gibraltar. We feel strongly that Mrs. Grinenko’s claims go without merit."
But a couple of concerns - which even after calling multiple times are not fixed yet..
1. My lights on top of the garage door and on the post are not working after the siding work was completed. they did send some one and he said he is not an electrician and cannot fix and will let his boss know. that is it . have not heard since and my entrance is dark.
2. I have the trellis in my fence cracked and was promised this will be fixed with the siding change. I bought the material thinking they will fix it. but the siding guys said they cant do it, and when i told the manager when he came to pick up the check and was promised they will fix it. but nothing till date. called a couple of times and once one person showed up and said he does not know how to fix it. and that is the end of it.
I have no complaints about their siding work, but the small issues are the one causing problems and just hanging there and annoying as we were promised all this before we agreed on the contract.
This issue has been resolved. Gibraltar was able to rectify the situation where the electrical work was performed to completion in an adequate time frame. Gibraltar responded to our concerns in a professional manner and did well in the end.
"Dear [member name removed], I apologize for responding late to your comments, but nevertheless, I thought that your comments deemed a response. The main reason and only reason the price of your job had changed was the fact that your roof had many issues AFTER the job started. You contracted with Gibraltar to rip off your old roofing shingles down to the existing wood. What you failed to state in your review was that ALL your wood underneath was ROTTED. As a professional contractor with over 35 years in business, we cannot assume the underlayment every time old shingles are removed that the wood is in satisfactory condition. Not only was your would rotted, your fascia boards were rotted behind the old aluminum capping. Gibraltar's position that day when we started the job was to inform you of the situation immediately. Unfortunately, no one knew what the circumstances were until the 3 layers of roofing were stripped. Also, your house is not the typical size roof job. It is the equivalent in size of 2 houses. It took almost 1 week to complete your roof with wood, fascia boards, capping and gutters. We appreciate your business and look forward to servicing your future home improvement needs. If you have any comments or concerns, please feel free to contact my office M-F 9-5pm. Very truly yours, Daniel Goldberg President"
