The problem was diagnosed immediately and fixed. No other service was jammed down my throat and the work was done quickly and efficiently. The part itself was a little on the expensive side but it was the only thing I paid for. The fan issue was just a broken piece jammed inside of the fan. He was honest, friendly and professional. And he also updated my sound hardware at no charge.

Excellent! The recovered data was entered onto my new iMac via the USB ports. All critical data was recovered and is now on the new computer! I would definitely use Advanced Computer Repair again!

Chris was courteous, professional and certainly seemed to know his stuff.  Since taking the computer home, we have had repeated problems with crashing and freezing, so it's back with Chris for more attention, and he thinks it's still related to the original virus being more malicious than expected.  I am very happy to have our computer in Chris's capable hands.

On Wednesday 2/25, I found my home desktop frozen on the Windows logo and after a few attempts to reboot and 2 Windows repair sessions of 8 hours (!), it was clear that there was something very serious going on. Possibly a hard drive failing which would mean that my data was at risk. I needed some urgent help and after a few searches, I found Chris on Angie's List.
All the reviews were stellar and one of them described a similar situation, which gave me confidence that he could do the job. I gave him a call and he picked up right away. I explained to him what the situation was and he told me to bring up the tower so that he could run some tests. I dropped off the tower around 3 pm on Thursday 2/26. Since this specific unit has two large drives, he told me that he might not get through the scans by 6 pm (time that his shop closes) but that he would let me know if he did. It did not but that was expected.
On Friday morning, he called me to tell me that one of the drives had passed the test but that the large 2 TB system drive was failing and needed replacement. He told me that he had only a 1 TB drive at his shop but that he thought it would be sufficient. He gave me a full quote for the job on the phone. I agreed and by 5 pm, I was picking up my unit back. Chris had managed to transfer all of the data that was on my drive onto the new drive and tested the system to make sure everything was in order. My computer has been working as if nothing happened.
For dealing with tech vendors fairly often in NYC, I can only give Chris my highest praises. He did not only fix my crisis for a reasonable cost in a very short period of time but all throughout the process, he was responsive and conveyed confidence. He told me not to worry, that he could do it and he delivered.
For us who just moved to the area, knowing that Chris is around in the event of an issue is a great peace of mind. He has definitely gained our business and I highly recommend him and his company.

Picked it up in 3 days working like it always did. Charged what was discussed. System is operating as it did prior to its sudden death.

Chris diagnosed our computer's problem within a few hours. He called with options and pricing, and answered all of the questions I had. The computer was ready the next day and the price was as quoted. I recommend Chris without a second thought and will definitely call on him again should the need arise.

I found Advanced Computer Repair in Somers, NY on Angie's List. The owner Chris handled the repair from start to finish. Over the phone he diagnosed the problem from my detailed description of what was happening, he quoted me estimated pricing that was reasonable and broken down by labor, parts and data recovery costs. (if the data was not recoverable, he doesn't charge the data recovery fee). Luckily my data was recoverable!

After dropping the unit off at his shop, he contacted me when he confirmed his original diagnosis and advised me of the costs to repair, which mirrored his original estimate. I gave him a verbal OK and he advised it would be ready by the following day.

The best part is I dropped the unit off at 10:30 AM and it was ready for pickup at 6PM the same day !!!!

After picking up, he advised that the recovered data was in a folder on the desktop. In addition to the programs mentioned above, he knew to install Adobe Acrobat, Java, and all the updates for the operating system. He also installed my ITunes program and the recovered music! I had little to do other than organize my desktop, hookup my printer (which he provided the latest driver for) and I was back in operation.

This was my first experience with an independent shop, as my 3 Dell computers are now out of warranty, and the whole experience from start to finish couldn't have been better. Knowing this business is close by gives me a sense of relief!

On a final note, Chris was friendly, professional and easy to work with, answering any questions I had.

My laptop would crash everytime I even moved the mouse. I was ready to buy a new one. At advanced computer repair, he was able to (pretty quickly) find the issue and fix it. Was kind of pricey since I needed a new ?something or other, but I'm still using the laptop today and am very satisfied.

The repair went smoothly and I've had no problems with the camera since. The price was reasonable, considering this required significant dis-assembly of the laptop. Chris was courteous, prompt and able to answer my questions knowledgeably.

Very easy, stress free experience. I have no patience or interest in technology beyond what it can add to my life. Setting up systems is about like getting a root canal to me. Chris' fee was well worth it!

I use my computer for everything, so when it doesn't work or runs slowly, I get so frustrated. When my screen was covered dozens of error messages and I couldn't clear them, I called Advanced Computers. Chris came on the same day. He fixed my laptop on site and did a lot of things to make it run faster. He even called the cable company when he realized they were not giving us the speed we were paying for on our router. I can't believe how fast my laptop is now and no error messages. Chris explained what he was doing as he was working so I was able to understand. The price was better than I expected. I will definitely call him again the next time my computer acts up.

I love my computer until something goes wrong with it, then I have no idea what to do. I started having problems.. getting error messages with the computer shutting down. I contacted Chris Harding of Advanced Computer Repair he came picked up the computer, worked on it until the problem was solved. I found Chris friendly, knowledgeable and professional he had my computer fixed in one day, did not charge me for the extra RAM he installed. My computer is now running like new. He saved me having to buy a new computer. Highly Recommended.
