There were two guys doing the work. Jim Martin told me, he informed the guys what was to be done. The two guys were to tarp the dirt and stone they removed, only they brought no tarps. I had to supply the tarps. They had to remove some concrete curbing they did not have the tools, I supplied a crowbar. They had a mini excavator to dig for the underground downspouts and just missed buried telephone and tv cables. They never called before you dig for a stake out. Jim Martin wanted me to use a Tall Fescue Grass seed I said, absolutely not. I have a fine bladed lawn and requested the seed be fine bladed. Tall Fescue is a coarse bladed grass. It takes about a year for the the grass to mature. After the grass matured it appeared to be cheap quaility and coarse bladed . The guys had to remove a bush and had to replant it to install the downspout, The bush died after a couple of months. One underground down- spout had to go under a block retaining wall the guys had to dismantle a small portion. The wall now sags. I Called Jim martin many times to address all these issues but he never called me back. He called me back when I filed in Small Claims Court and he was going to address the issues. He instead contacted his seed supplier Jack from Preferred Seed. I wanted to be present when Jack came out but, he came out when I was not home. I received call from James Martin saying he was not going to address the issues and that Jack would be his witness in court. I now needed to hire someone to kill out and reseed all the areas that Evergreen had seeded. Replant a new bush and repair the sagging retaining wall. I won the small claims to repair the retaining wall. Jim Martin told the Judge he did not guarantee the bush he replanted. First time I ever heard that and it was not even written on my contract. I could not prove to Judge about the grass that was planted because his supplier lied about seed which is Junk. He told the Judge about his theory that the grass must of come from a nearby field and was native to the soil, yet I have a fine bladed lawn.  I guess ths Judge thought a woman could not know more than the supplier and the Landscaper. Bottom line this Company does not stand behind there work and does not Care about the Customer. There is no oversite from the owner. There Seed Is JUNK !
Response from Evergreen Landscape Management
"Back on May 11th 2012 Evergreen Landscape Management did the following work at the above customer's address. 1) Graded/leveled 2 high spots in front lawn near road with mini excavator. Then we topdressed w/ screened topsoil and hydroseed with trio mix (blend selected by {members name removed}). 2) Repaired NW corner downspout. Removed and replaced (3) Boxwoods ({members name removed} was told that there is a risk of transplanting mature shrubs). Remove and replace retaining wall to allow for new downspout. Removed and replaced stone and all piping materials. 3)We delivered and spread 10 yards of screened topsoil on North side of house from retaining wall to NE corner of foundation. Allowed for removal and replacing of curbing/stone. 4) Buried NE and NW downspout 20' from house. l was very surprised to see this review here about 3 years after doing the work for {members name removed}. After the work was performed, she signed one of our sign off sheets expressing her satisfaction. It was about 1.5 years later when we received a phone call from {members name removed} expressing her dissatisfaction. She was upset that the areas we seeded had a undesirable type of seed growing in them. She was also not happy about where the retaining wall was removed and reinstalled. Additionally, her Boxwoods we transplanted for her died. I don't recall if some or all perished afterwards. Unfortunately we did go to small claims court over this matter. The main issues in court were the lawn (type of seed), the wall and the dead Boxwoods. With the help of a expert witness, we were able to explain to the judge that the type of undesirable grass growing in her lawn (both newer areas and existing) was from the surrounding fields. This wasn't a seed blend we ever used in our hydroseeder tank. The wall over the downspout did sag afterwards and the judge did award her $250 for the repair. Lastly, the shrub was never warrantied because it was a transplant from the customers property vs. new install. Safety is a priority. When digging we always call for a stakeout. Additionally, we use our own equipment and try to leave the customers property the same as we found it. Evergreen strives to make all of our customers happy. Whether it's returning a phone call or after the work is done, we want our customer satisfaction level to be as high as possible."

Paid the seasonal rate. I am very please with their service. The plowed and shoveled the walkway all the way to the front door.
The plow messed up a very small part of the lawn at the end of the driveway. However, they fixed it. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

What stands out is their promptness. I've been with them for about 10 years.

I am dropping them after attempting to get adequate follow-up from both their office staff and site people. Even after three years of maintenance, the lawn renovation is looking worse that the original lawn. I had a site person come out and do soil tests which they supposedly sent to the and quot;laband quot;, and I had to badger them for the results, at which time they blamed the increasing damage to the presence of a Cherry tree. Their office was fully capable of overcharging me for sales tax, but not capable of getting me proper answers in a timely manner. They did good work on the tree removal and drainage work, but is my guess that lawn work is not their priority. I also live thirty miles away from their home base, and after their $2000.00+ renovation, I felt I was not a priority. In a way, I should have known when the topsoil looked barely screened, and grass seen used was barely brand-name.

I've been using Evergreen Landscape Management for about 7 years. We get the annual lawn maintenance package. We first started using them when we built our last house. Although the builder hydroseeded our lawn, it was a complete mess full of weeds and dead grass. I first contacted Evergreen with the intention of having them rip it all out and start over. Jim suggested that we consider his monthly treatment regimen and it worked. I was so pleased. We have used them every years since and even had them build a beautiful retaining wall in our front yard. Jim even met us at a local garden superstore and helped up pick out the right plants for the retaining wall. Our yard was the envy of the neighbors. We recently built another house and Evergreen was the first call I made to deal with our hydroseeded lawn. And again they worked wonders. I will be going with them again this spring/summer for our annual lawn treatment.

Snow removal was satisfactory and timely, I have no other experience to compare with this, so I see it as expensive. I also contracted in mid season, and paid full boat. I hope to inquire about the companies other services.

They do a periodic service on my lawn. We chose them because they could do everything. They certainly laid out everything for us. In terms of pricing structure, may be they would choose to do or not do various parts of the job and we would be very pleased with that respect. I surely did not compare all the jobs that we had done with other outlets but only the yearly lawn service which turns out to be the least important of all the jobs. They had to come back and redo major parts of the work. They were here probably on eight to ten different occasions for various parts of the job. We will continue to use them in the future.

I had asked for a garden that was less time intensive, 3 season color and for them to work around the 3 plants being left, which was my Japanese Maple, a Cyprus and an evergreen in the corner. I did say they could be moved if necessary, but they were not touched. We met at the Garden Factory so he could point out plants and I could tell him which I liked. On the day of the planting, he brought what I had liked plus a couple of others, but when he got through, the design had no imagination and everything was stick straight. No softness. We had to request that they trim the Japanese Maple whose branches had grown down to the ground, which was done with a very dull something or other as the tree became stressed. The plants they planted went into shock (I do not think they had been watered) and they planted plants right in front of the Bleeding Hearts that needed to be cut down. It did not look good to see the dying plants right behind the new. These are supposed to be professionals and should have known about cutting the plants down. The "design" of the garden was no different than any homeowner might do. Nothing professional about the design for all the money it cost. Within two days of their leaving, I had weeds all over and am pulling them every week. I now have a garden which will bloom only in summer, except for the bleeding hearts which will come back, and nothing for spring and fall. It is more time intensive since they did not put the landscape material down and barely turned over the ground so I have lots of lovely weeds sprouting almost daily. It was an awful lot of money for something I could probably have had done for 1/2 that price.

When the time came, I received a call from Jim stating they would be out the next day to do the work. They showed up on time with all the pertinent equipment and did the job. Any time I had a question they were more than happy to stop and answer it courteously. Even though one of the crew was sick that day, the job was completed that day (as described) and above my expectations. I know I'll be needing more landscape work done and these guys will be the first asked to come back.

I chose Evergreen to grade the property and install a new lawn using hydroseed because Jim was very responsive to getting back to me, he had no problem talking with me about all my questions, and he seemed very knowledgeable about the conditions for a new lawn installation. Evergreen tentatively scheduled the new lawn install a couple of weeks in advance and followed up a couple of times before the work was to begin. The first day Jim had the topsoil delivered and graded the property. The gentleman that graded was very meticulous I could not have asked for a better grade. The second day Jim's crew rockhounded the property, then the guys hand raked the entire yard, and then applied the hydroseeding. They even agreed to come back and reseed a spot that was confused as the neighbor's property. The whole crew was courteous, professional, and punctual. They had no problems answering my questions and walking me through the steps needed to care for the lawn after they were gone. I was told that the lawn would germinate within 7-10 days, and behold on Day 9 grass began to appear. It is now Day 13 and the lawn is coming in great, and the grade is spectacular.

This was a major job that was done to perfection. I couldn't have asked for anyone to be more helpful or professional. Jim Martin even went to the garden store and helped me pick out the shrubs and plants. I would definitely hire again and I have!

I was very pleased with the tilling. The young man who mowed the lawn did not follow my instructions and mowed my wild flower garden, a pets grave site (which sprayed pearl gravel all over the yard), and several small trees. All of these were clearly marked with posts and flags or borders. When I told him what he had done he was very embarrassed and was more careful at other visits. Later in the summer another employee weed whacked a bed of daffodils and my herb garden, after which I stopped using their service. I would only hire back Mr. Martin to till my garden, I do not trust his associates after all the accidents they had.

I have had Evergreen Landscape for several years and I can trust them to do the work they have to do unsupervised. They are very professional and customer minded. Their prices are fair and they call before they come out.
