Unfortunately we did not have a positive experience like other reviewers. Larry came recommended from great people at Curtis Lumber. Admittedly, our situation was unique. Our original contractor was unable to complete the job due to a multitude of reasons including lack of proper tools, crew, truck, etc. Larry was able to come out right away and said he would try his best to work us into the schedule because were were in a bind. He said he would call by the next morning but did not hear from him till about 3 days later, left a message he could start work in 2 days. Unfortunately I was at work and didn't immediately receive message. I tried in vain for 3 days to get in touch with him but he did not respond to multiple messages or texts. Finally when my husband called from a different number he answered late evening of the day he was supposed to show and said, sorry, we took too long to respond to him (which was approx 8 hrs after he left message) opening was taken. He had another opening following week. For our part, ok, poor communication but ok no problem, we would just love to get job done. Again no communication till late night before when he finally answered phone to confirm that yes they would show up. Crew shows up, everything going great. Guys seem good to go with all appropriate gear, on time, courteous, and dive right in. They clean up as the go and begin correcting work of previous contractor. Then it takes a horrible turn. We were having natural hickory floors installed which has a lot of beautiful inherent color variation. I asked one of the guys to try and make sure that boards of all the same shade were not bunched together. I think the beauty of the floor is really seen by showing the contrasts of the individual pieces. He said he would need to call Larry. Larry got on the phone with me and immediately became aggressive. With a raised voice he accused me of telling him how to do his job and explained to me that under no circumstance would his crew do anything but pull the boards directly out of the box. He said that he was doing me a favor by even being there. That if I had a problem then I should lay the boards myself. I tried to diffuse and explain that I was not at all trying to tell him how to do the job that if he were on site he would surely be able to see what I was talking about. He adamantly refused to listen to a single word I had to say and told me he would be walking off the job. End result is that while Thompson flooring has a capable and professional crew, I would recommend you avoid. With Thompson Flooring you are ultimately considered a job and not a customer. I believe that jobs can be completed quickly and professionally as long is it is solely on Larry's terms and you dare not voice any opinion on the job performed in your own home. I highly doubt he would have spoken like that if my husband were here, but unfortunately my military husband was traveling. Larry was nothing short of a bully. I believe this small conflict did not in anyway have to end so poorly if he had just been willing to calmly and professionally discuss the subject. What an extreme disappointment. He left us high and dry, but to his credit he completely refunded our deposit.

They glow!  The floors look like new.  They did the work while we were away, and there was no problems at all.  Larry always answers the phone when you call. He is very professional and honest.  We would definitely work with him again.

This is a small company of 4 regular employees.  The owner (Larry Thomson) and his son (Kyle) came to my house to provide an estimate. They arrived on time, took measurements, examined the material that I purchased and gave me an estimate right on the spot.  The estimate was $1,040 which was more than another ($750) but less than a third ($1,545).

I took the day off from work to be in my home during the installation.  I was told the crew would arrive by 7:30 am but they did not show up until 8:45 am.  Turns out that Larry and Kyle had delegated this job to their employees, Steve and Tommy.  They had another job to stop at in the morning but word never got to me.  The late start got me concerned about them showing up. Turns out Larry just had a grandchild that day so he wouldn't be there.   Once his employees arrived all was good.  It would have been nice to be contacted by Larry about these minor changes.  Steve was the floor installer and he was a pro.   The crew laid down plastic to enable them to walk from the garage where they cut the flooring to our kitchen/dining area for the installation.  This kept my house clean.

The only concern I had during the job was not boxing the new dishwasher in place so that it could be removed for service (if necessary).  Steve offered to remove the dishwasher and install the flooring underneath it if necessary.   As the work progressed near the dishwasher, he carefully measured and determined that there was sufficient clearance to pull the dishwasher out over the new flooring.  During the installation - supply of wood flooring ran low - so I had to make a trip to Lumber Liquidators.  This delay, in combination with the later start, caused Steve to rush at the end and miss a few minor items.  The trim board under the dishwasher needed another rip cut so the dishwasher door could open and close properly.  He never checked this.   Also, some of the nail holes were not filled with putty even after he mentioned that he needed to do this.   I will need to address these items myself.

I had got three estimates, Larry being the last. He always picks up the phone when you call. I had to reschedule the first estimate because I was really sick. He happily gave me another date the next week. Right when I met him I wanted to hire him. He is very knowledgeable about flooring and doesn't have a salesman feel to him. He hit every bullet point I was looking for (around the fireplace, molding, etc). When I got his estimate he was the lowest one. I called him to hire and he had my floors ordered, delivered, and installed within 2 weeks time. He has three guys who came and ripped up the carpet and installed the floor. They got here around 9am and were done with our 283 square foot room done by 3pm. This is the first time I have had flooring installed and didn't realize it would be so dusty. But, I know for next time. They guys were nice and worked efficiently with each other. I would definitely recommend them to install your brand new flooring.

The team was very professional. Larry, the owner was present each day to ensure the quality of work and talk with us. We are extremely happy with the results. The team put the floor down in our living room, kitchen and hall. I would recommend to everyone.

When I called for the quote, the owner was out of state working on a large job so it took a week or two to get to that point while he finished up that and other active jobs. However this was not a problem as i was not under any time constraints.

My house was built in 1954 and the floor was very worn and stained. I was not sure it could be refinished but received no pressure to lay a new floor. The owner and his son did the estimate and it was right in the ballpark I had in mind. Since it was only one room, they were able to start the next week and neither the time nor cost estimates changed.

Steve, Bob and Mark worked efficiently and wasted no time while working. I was trying to stain the floors to a color close to my dining room set and Steve was patient with me, testing a few choices in small areas of the floor before starting. I am very happy with the results and glad I used a small, local business

I obtained an estimate in late fall of 2013 but was not able to have the work done until April 2014.  Thomson Flooring worked with us to schedule at our convenience and showed up to complete the work,which was done on time and on budget  with professional results.  I was surprised at the absence of sanding dust.  They were efficient and professional.

Fantastic.  They are very professional, reliable, and completed tremendously high quality work. They are trustworthy, friendly, and a pleasure to work with.  They also were focused and efficient.  We highly recommend them to others.

They showed up on time.  Came in and assessed the damage, and got to work.  This was damage that I have talked to other people about, but seemed too small for any one  to touch.  I am so pleased.
