Great visit, tech was right on time diagnosed and repaired the furnace correctly the first time. The office staff were polite as well as knowledgeable about the availability of the service tech. We have since changed our families heating service provider to Mountain Petroleum.

We built a new house in 2010 and contracted with Mountain Petroleum of Schroon Lake, New York to do our hot water heating system. The first day after the system was installed, we had to have a service call because the heat did not work. Two days later we awoke to find our basement full of water after a fitting failed. We left the house for the winter season but kept the heat on during our absence. After a short time we were contacted by our local contractors that our basement again had water and another fitting had failed. Mountain Petroleum did repair the leak and the damage caused by the water. We noticed that the fuel consumption was very high and questioned Mountain Petroleum, but there was always a reason such as extremely cold weather. In mid-February, only 3 ½ months after the installation, our furnace failed. Mountain Petroleum had to replace our furnace with a new furnace. Fuel consumption remained high. This winter we took additional steps to further winterize our new house in an effort to reduce fuel costs. However, fuel consumption remained high and the furnace ran continually. We called the company that manufactured the furnace and asked what we could do. They suggested that we use an independent certified representative to check the furnace. We took their advice and had the furnace checked. It was discovered that the circulating pumps were all set on high instead of low, the water temperature was set too low, and there was a connector missing which told the furnace when it needed to run. It was determined that these three problems were the cause of the furnace running all the time and the reason for our excessive fuel consumption. We had our furnace properly regulated. Then we changed to a different propane company that had fuel at a lower price. Before another year has passed, our heat system failed again. The newly serviced furnace was running fine, but it was discovered that the pipes for the upstairs heating were improperly run along an outside wall and were not insulated against the outside cold. Our freeze alarm alerted us when the temperatures dropped and we were able to get a plumber to the house just before the fittings in three sections of pipe burst. Our contractor then went to Mountain Petroleum to report that we were still having problems with pipes freezing and bursting because of the placement of the pipes and lack of insulation. Mountain Petroleum then stated (to the contractor) that because we were not buying fuel from them that they would not repair the pipes. Our contractor explained that the furnace was fine, but that the initial installation of the heating system was faulty and continued to give us problems. The contractor even offered to help Mountain Petroleum fix the problems. Instead, Mountain Petroleum refuses to repair their mistakes because we will not buy their fuel. To sum up our experience, we found that Mountain Petroleum does not have a good understanding of how to install a hot water heating system or regulate a furnace. They did not investigate why our fuel consumption was exorbitant, but instead allowed us to use excessive amounts of fuel which was to their financial advantage. And they do not stand behind their work if you do not buy their fuel. Their warranty is dependent upon whether they are supplying your fuel. Their installed heating pipes continue to freeze due to improper placement and no insulation resulting in a constant threat of damage to our house.
