When I contacted him for a very special project, an art installation around 2 patio pillars, he eagerly researched and ultimately applied just the right skills to accomplish the task!
I would highly recommend him to all my friends; while he's quite busy most of the year, Maurice somehow manages to get to your project in a timely manner. From returning your initial contact to final follow up, this guy's the only one I'd call!
12/16/15-Mr. Calis did know about my complaints and as I stated, offered no help and assistance in rectifying the problems. I actually recently ran into him, and again told him my concerns and he said"it's unfortunate that it didn't work out ".
I found that to be a very unprofessional and a cowardly response. People do make mistakes , The difference from a good business man and a poor one, is if they are going to take ownership and make it right for the sake of good business practice and customer satisfaction. You can make some people happy but what happens when things dont go soothly on other jobs. I think ignoring the problems is a very incompetent practice. In good faith, you made no attempt to apologize or offer a solution, personal explanation, or just plain out attempt to make things right,by me.You can write your version as you believe it to be true, but we both know you are not being cpmpletely honest. You can also keep the money Mr. Calis, but guaranteed, this type of business practice will catch up to at some point and you will pay 10 fold. Good luck with that.
"It’s very common for a customer to express their dissatisfaction with previous contractors, as [member name removed] communicated to me before we started, but I am usually the one to change that trend. So it came as somewhat of a surprise recently to get this complaint, especially since I was never consulted about the apparent issues she now claims were my doing. From the beginning of my involvement, it was understood that my time was limited, as I was extremely booked, but I took her months ahead of schedule as a courtesy. It was understood from the start that she desired each piece to be cut seamlessly from one wall to the other, so that she could apply her own finish. She also required that there be NO NAIL HOLES nor ANY type of wood filler, which is why I never committed to installing them. At no time did I state that I was a master carpenter, however I do have the proper nailers (18ga brad and 16ga finish nailer), to install crown molding NORMALLY. I cut each piece to spec, incorporating a coping cut on one end so that each of them would overlap the other seamlessly. If the contractor she hired after me just put a scrap cut up to align the first piece (as I did when test fitting ALL OF THEM), there would have been no gaps. A coping cut by design covers the start of the next piece. You can’t just put up a piece and say LOOK AT THE GAP. You will never know how it fits until you overlap another piece. So, without being consulted, [member name removed] apparently spent money on new pieces and had the work done. I was never given the opportunity to support this strategy, as she didn’t contact me about it. As to the $65 replace piece or adjusting figures, there was never any dishonesty on my part, as I am always honest with my customers. It’s a situation like this that really makes me appreciate all the wonderful people that I have had the opportunity to work for. Furthermore, I have plenty of customers who can attest to my skill with installing crown molding. In fact a long time customer for whom I just recently installed crown molding has graciously offered her phone number and photos to anyone that desires a reference. I will provide that info upon request."
Had them replace the front porch. Work was done on schedule and on budget. Only delay was waiting for the building inspectors to inspect and approve the depth of the support column concert pour holes. Totally out of the builders control. The workers were very professional and accommodating. Contract was very clear and concise. All my questions and concerns were addressed quickly. I?m planning on putting a deck on the back of the house in the future and I would welcome them back to do the job. Two big thumbs up.
