I learned how to play guitar from Dennis. I spent $25 for a half hour and $40 when I wanted an hour long session. I found that to be the going rate. However, many amateurs are charging the same rate. I felt very lucky to have found a professional musician at such a great rate. I've seen Dennis' resume, have some of his CDs, and have been to some of his live performances, and he could definitely charge more. I was amazed at how quickly I was playing a song. And one that I picked out! Dennis' goal is to make music accessible and fun and that was definitely accomplished. We focused on the music I liked. Of course, there are drills and some more tedious aspects of practice, but Dennis had a gift of translating all of that into a practical outcome and I found that practice time flew by and song playing only got better and better. I learned so much more than I expected and have a fun skill/hobby for life.
