Funeral Homes
$8,800
My Father was under hospice care, and in preparation of his passing, my sister and I had visited Bond a week before he
passed. We met with Robert Bond, the owner who was professional and understood
the circumstances. We discussed some basics of the service but waited to plan
the finer details when all three siblings and I could be together. The day he
passed at home, the director, Donald came to pick up his body and did not have
any information we had previously provided. It should have been a red flag but we
were under a stress and did not think much of it. We went that afternoon to the
funeral to make the detailed arrangements and Donald seemed in a hurry the
entire time we were there. He seemed rushed or pressured, although we were
meeting at the time he arranged. We had the wake and funeral immediately after
each other in the evening. I am one of my father's executors and beneficiary of
his life insurance, Donald asked me immediately after the funeral service to
sign the legal/financial documents. I was still crying and overwhelmed with
emotion and he wanted me to sign paperwork related to the payment and financing
of services! I couldn't believe it. I didn't understand why this wasn't
addressed earlier, even before the wake. I would have been happy to come 10-15
mins before the rest of the family and sign what was needed; it was very tactless
to ask for it after my Father's service when I was an emotional mess. After the
services I reviewed the bill provided and called Bond funeral home about a $60
charge for car service to the cemetery. When arrangements were made we were
informed this was for the minister, transportation to and from the cemetery.
Our family had no concerns or issues with this. We realized after his burial
that the minister had driven himself. I called Bond and asked the charge be
removed and was brushed off, being told the car services was also for the
employees that went to the cemetery. It didn't make sense we had to pay for their employees
transportation considering the charges for burial services. I had reasonable
professional contact with Robert Bond but his partner Donald left me feeling
frustrated and defensive at most of my interactions.
