JIMMY'S HARDWOOD FLOORING

We used Jimmy and his crew to refinish hardwood floors. The crew was great and the results are even better! We were so pleased with the work that they did, they even finished the job a day earlier than expected. Would definitely use them again for any flooring needs.

It took four days longer than quoted and an enormous amount of cleanup on the owners behalf afterwards. My family and dogs included needed to move out of the house and into a hotel for three nights in order for them to finish their job. The sanding of the floors were primarily done by one individual who spent much of his time on his cell phone and taking cigarette breaks. I do have dogs which they were made aware of I asked for extra protection on my floors. I was Told they were using the best product and would do three coats. Within three months my floors were extremely scratched up. Jimmy did come back to inspect the floors and agreed that they did not look new and needed to be redone. At the time Jimmy said he would check with the manufacturer of the product and show him the pictures who agree to supply new covering for the floor. we agreed to do work in the month following when the weather got warmer. then Covid hit and things are held up. Needless to say the product was no longer available and Jimmy asked for me to split the cost of the materials with him I disagreed he said there was nothing more that he could do and now I am left with very expensive scratch floors.

Very prompt and responsive initially. Very professional and friendly. Floors came out great. Had a problem area in one of the rooms. Two spots approx 3 inches in diameter where the finish lifted. I called and they said they had no explanation as to why the finish lifted. Nothing was dropped there. They came within a day or two and reapplied one coat of poly to the spots. They never came back to reapply a subsequent coat. Called and spoke to Jimmy who said he would come but he never came. I asked what product was used so I could do it myself and he told me don't worry it was no trouble he would take care of it. Well he never did. This is a couple of months later and no show. All in all they did great work but his failure to follow thru on the details left a sour taste. We have other work that needs to be done which I asked for a written estimate for. Never got that either. I think I will call someone else next time.

Jimmy performed the tasks he was contracted to do, but his work quality leaves much to be desired.  Our home was fully emptied so that he and his crew could work uninhibited.  Doors, railings, and radiator covers were all removed so that he could do the best possible job sanding and finishing.  We had also replaced some boards prior to his contracting.
Some issues that we have with his work :
1. Jimmy did not fill any nail holes that were present in the existing floor.
2. He sporadically fixed damaged areas to the floor, and where he did used a non matching pink wood filler.  The repairs are more noticeable now than before.
3. His crew built landings but left the edges extremely rough, at least 3/4 inch of gap between the wall.  When I asked Jimmy about this he said that 3/4 of an inch is normal for expansion, but all other boards were much tighter.  Jimmy agreed to come back and fix this, but never did.  One landing also has a pretty bad buckle in it.
4. Jimmy and I discussed one style of transition, but he installed another.  He also agreed to come back and install the one we wanted, but phone calls to him have gone unanswered.
