The Maids of Glens Falls

I originally called The maids and had to have someone who does scheduling call me back.  After explaining what I wanted, (cleaning of 5 bedroom, two and half bath empty house to prepare for open house)  I was quoted over $500 for 5 people, we made the appointment.  Because other contractors would not be finished on the date scheduled, I called to reschedule.  The appointment was changed, with the statement that I would be called to confirm, since the main "scheduler" wasn't available.  When no one called me back and the date approached, I called to check if the date was good.  I was told I was on the schedule.  The day before, I was left a message, the maids would be there at 1pm.  They arrived on time, only there were only 2 of them and the leader, mentioned she didn't know there were so many  windows.  She called the office, and gave me a lower estimate for the job, since there were only 2 of them.  I was told the windows would be cleaned inside, outside and "in between" which meant vacuuming the inside sills.  I had things to do, so I left.  They charged my card for services and were gone when I cam home.  The first room I went into, the inside window sill hadn't even been dusted off, no vacuuming on the between sill and it didn't even look like the window had been cleaned in that room and the downstairs bathroom window didn't look cleaned.  The kitchen counter was gritty, like it hadn't been wiped down, and the cupboards looked like nothing below knee level had been wiped off at all and floors didn't look like they'd been mopped.  The upstairs wasn't much better, the bathrooms didn't look like they'd been given much attention.  I was very disappointed. I would not recommend them.   I won't hire them again, as I am staying in the area.

When the owner/manager came in to see my space and give me an estimate she observed that my house was very clean and organized and felt it would be easy to clean. When I asked her how long she thought  it would take her team to do a thorough job, she said it would take 1 hour and 15-20 mins for a team of four. That felt right and is the reason I decided to try them out.They've worked for me for a little over 2 years. They clean once a month and charge around $150 including taxes. My experience with them has been mixed. They lost a house key once so I had to replace the lock at my expense. They claimed I had never given them a key. So the next time I got them to sign on a sheet acknowledging they had a key to my house and were responsible for its safe keeping.They also damaged the polish on my newly renovated master bathroom shower fixture, which I am going to have to replace at my own expense. It's an expensive fixture.When I need extras done, I have been billed at the rate of $2.40/minute. An extra hour of work would cost you an additional $144 plus tax!! They are certainly pricey! They are the "66 minute cleaning company" - this they say is their budgeted time for my home (2600 square feet, not all of which needs cleaning everyday anyway, and I have no pets and no kids). That was news to me. Their big claim is if you're not happy with their cleaning and call them back within 24 hours, they will redo it for free. I work from home so I prefer to do a survey with their team leader after they've finished, and invariably find areas that need to be revisited. They feel I interfere with their cleaning and cause them to go overtime. I think I insist on quality, especially at that price. My house cannot be cleaned well in 66 mins.They have a four member team come in on most days, at times 3 show up.Their crew members change all the time. That requires the new members to relearn and causes them to take more time. If they would stick to the same crew members most of the time, they'd get faster at doing the same job. They need to understand that.They are also very volume oriented. Their crew is always trying to cover a large number of homes in a given amount of time, which is not good for their energy levels, morale, nor the quality of their work. They are good with their scheduling and punctual most of the time, and the team members are courteous and most of them are hardworking. I decided to terminate them because mine is not a house their crew can clean well in 66 mins. For the money I pay them, they should be able to do a good job in under an hour and a half which is not unreasonable.

Their price is reasonable and they do a very good job. They have good flexibility if I need to change times or ask questions. I will use them again in the future.

I have hired The Maids many times to clean when I lived in the house that was cleaned. They always did an excellent job and I did a walk through with them when they were finished.   This time, however they did an awful job and they left with the bathroom floor dirty with bobby pins, etc. on the floor and the ceiing fans were not cleaned and the house was generally still dirty.  No one was there to check their work this time.  The owner of The Maids in Saratoga personally went to the house and ordered a redo.  She said the supervisor of the crew didn't do her job. All ended well after the second cleaning.   I would use The Maids again because I think this lack of performance was a fluke.

I got a $260 service for $90 from a coupon on the internet. For what I paid it was superb but for $260 you would have to think twice
I recommend  All Clean N Neat.  Much less expensive...very reliable and cooperative.  Excellent job..

I THOUGHT THEY WERE A REPUTABLE COMPANY. THEY HELPED ME AT A TIME OF NEED. THEY PERFORMED THEIR DUTIES ACCORDING TO THE CONTRACT. THEY WERE FRIENDLY AND THOROUGH. I THOUGHT THAT THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE.
