"We installed that leach field nine years ago. Nine. It was designed by an independent Professional Engineer (P.E.), permitted with the town, installed as per plan, and inspected and signed off on by both the engineer and the town's building inspector. This customer now expects us to replace it for free after he has failed to maintain it properly and it has built up a slime layer that has severely restricted the drainage. It's like he bought a car nine years ago and now expects Ford to replace it for free after he has blown the engine. Contrary to his statements, we have been out to the property on several occasions to try to understand what happened to the system. We have provided free septic pumping and tried to work with him to understand what went wrong. We have discussed the situation with the engineer who designed the system, who suggested possibly adding additional drainage legs and we presented the customer with a proposal to do this at our cost. None of this has satisfied Mr. [Member Name Removed]. His position all along has been that they have no responsibility for the system failure (which cannot be true), that it is all our fault, and that we should replace it for free. We generally work very hard to help our customers and keep them happy, but when you start from a position as unreasonable as Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s, it is very hard to know what to do."
Even a routine thing like pumping out our tank proves this. Today, a young gentleman, Shawn, came to pump the tank. Not only was he on time and polite, but he labored to do the job right. He really works hard at his job and has a fantastic work ethic.
Septic work is a physically hard job. Out in all types weather, working under some of the worst circumstances. We can't help but respect the people at Stone every time they come here.
To repeat one of our prior comments: Excellent to do business with ... from the owner, to the people in the field, to the people in the office.
Thank you.
Driver / Technician was very polite, professional, punctual, and satisfactorially answered a bunch a questions about our septic.
They called us in about a week and scheduled the work. They showed up on time early that morning and worked through the day and finished the job the same day. I was amazed with the amount of work and the quality of work done in that short period of time. The back hoe work was done perfectly, and everything was put back in order.
My wife and I were very pleased with the price and the work done.
Stone came in and within a week everything was done and ready to go. I spoke with an older gentleman (Jim I believe) and a young guy who took the time to explain how everything worked and to re-iterate that if I needed anything that they would be there.
Well, they had installed a grinder pump that had several problems. The alarm kept going off which meant that the waste was not being properly pumped out. Any time the alarm rang, we called Stone right up. They were always responsive and quick to come diagnose and resolve the issue. I would have given an A for everything, except that it did take about 4 attempts to get the pump to work and they seemed unsure of what the problem actually was. Each time there was an alarm it also meant that I had to stay home from work to be there for the guy. It was finally resolved though.
Lastly, I wasn't too happy that the and quot;gray waterand quot; still went to our dry well. I cannot say for sure if this was something that just wasn't part of the order or not...if not then there is no issue on their part. But our dry well backed up shortly after moving in and required a plumber to resolve.
Bottom line is this is an industry that you have to be careful with who you deal with and Stone seems like a company you can trust.
While he was there, he did the black tank and the other (shower) grey tank.
Tech was on site for almost an hour, and charge was $45.
They ran a 45 minute water flow test, then pumped and vacuumed the tank. They inspected the baffles and inside of the tank with a mirror, cleaned out some accumulated cr*p and then moved on to the distribution box.
They found that the distribution box was defective. It had a broken/missing baffle and other issues. They did not repair this, since I had not purchased the house yet.
They properly covered everything up, cleaned up, and left a clean work area.
The technician made several phone calls back to the office in order to clarify points of information for me.
I was quite satisified, and they have earned my business for future pumping.
Note that the homeowner had the d-box repaired by another company, resolving the issues.
