Dan Marin came in for an initial estimate, appraised our existing floors and the work that they would need to do, and gave us a price right then and there. He was very forthcoming and informative about what would be required to refinish the floors, which spots needed to be repaired, and gave an idea about what to expect of the process.
When they came to do the work, Dan and the guys were courteous and efficient. The repairs that were made were seamless with the existing planks, and they laid a small area in our foyer of brand new hardwood that matched up perfectly with the existing wood.
They also created a couple of really nice oak transoms to transition from the other rooms. The oak base 1/4 round molding finished the look.
The sanding equipment that they used caught most of the dust, although there was still some clean up from some dust clinging to the surrounding walls, to be expected.
We chose not to stain the wood, instead having the oil-based poly applied to let the natural beauty of the wood come through. We're very pleased with that choice.
Overall our new gleaming floors look so beautiful, and it feels like a new room. He charged us exactly what he had estimated, no surprises. Well-done!
