It has worked like a scandal against an isolated senior citizen or the innocent: Mostly with ONLY demolition helpful, Juan Quintero, the J&N Renovations owner, got $44,200 payment & the $3,000 he held (from half of $36,000 payment to IPS Plumbing whom he hired) without my knowledge to start with (unclear when passed on as he claimed to). From my understanding now, he should not have contracted my work beyond his scope back in October 2021 when I discussed my several categories of work in 10/14 email. Then he showed his work with 3 of cups (a restaurant in SoHo of Manhattan) on 10/21. He got the electrician Trevor Pollard right then and there, saying all the electric or renovation works were able to pass NYC inspection & my work had minimal layout change. I knew that was not true by the time I got my needed DOB approval in April. In addition, there were some wasted rushing ahead work from Juan’s assistant, PLUS the wasted electric work/material of $11,000 from Trevor. And the failed electric work prompted my rush finding of another electrician from Home Advisor (Singam Electric. We both interview Ali), for necessary new HVAC related wiring & already started electric work. I wish Juan had dealt with me fairly or been responsible finding a qualified successor of himself. I would like to avoid my review of experience here. Besides $45,200 from his proposal (Labor Only. Half paid initially), I patched $8,000 and later $2,200 in Cash Checks for the extra work projected but rarely done. The $44,200 passed to him includes $22,000 initial payment, $12,000 payment (claimed ready to move on) out of $45,200 proposed in ‘contract’, and $8000 followed by $2,200. About ½ out of $45,200 was paid shortly before the work halted. He could have communicated sincerely with my flexibility. Just the opposite, with all the overpayment already, he still asked $1000 with false claim of something done, and another time $900 with confusion. It was I who continued dealing with his trash (not just "Electrician's trash" like he said). I also end up “choosing” to clear the basement tile area (1/2 of basement floor) with my purchased tools & protection gear - tougher to do than loose basement ceilings/walls. With my unfortunate delay of DOB application, I still wished him to face the work. I had kept him posted along the way during the permit progress. Then reportedly the IPS Plumbing also got cut off by him.
