driveway pavers

Me and my neighbor( we live in a town house complex) shares a driveway and we decided to use this company to re-pave it . It was the worst decision we've made as a homeowner. At first when the owner Vinny came to our house to look at the prospective job and give us a price quote ,everything was very good, promised us a good job for the price agreed, so we said ok, we'll go ahead with the project. The job agreed was that they were going to replace the damaged concrete curb with new concrete, dig up the old asphalt and replace it with 2 inches compact asphalt, and if our homeowners assoc. agree, instead of them replacing the rotten wooden border with wood , they would use bricks( unfortunately it wasn't approved). We informed Vinny over the phone that the brick border wasn't approved, so we'll just go with the new wooden border. He said fine. The first day they arrived, they came nice and early, and Vinny the owner was quite easy to talk to and to reach over the phone. They dug up the old asphalt and the curb. This was when the first disaster happened. Instead of them pouring new concrete as a curb they put down bricks!!!! My neighbor called Vinny, and he said that bricks was what we agreed upon, and that's what he quoted us for. We argued and even told him that, it wasn't what was written in the contract, he said we misunderstood him, and said that he could not have quoted us for a concrete curb because he doesn't do concrete curb, he said he only use bricks!, But he said he can change it to concrete , but he would have to charge us an extra $200....Oh yeah, this after our driveway was already dug up and the curb messed up! Of course we had to agree, after being threatened to walk away from the job... so they changed it to concrete. Now 2 1/2 weeks passed , they haven't taken down any of the mold for the concrete curb, or flags to prevent people from walking/driving over the new concrete curb, nor have they gotten in touch with us to communicate with us what's gonna happen next, or to even check on the job they started. So we decided to call him,. I made multiple attempts to call the office number they gave to no avail. All i got was a voice mail, i left messages but he never got back to me that day. Now the next day i was walking by the curb and i saw that the were 2-3 cracks on the new concrete curb, so i made multiple attempts to call him again, but of course all i got was his voice mail. Luckily my neighbor had Vinny's cell phone # so she called him and of course left a voice mail too. He called back annoyed that i've been calling him multiple times (like 5-10x). He said he was busy in another job , t, and that he would have called me back the end of the day!! REALLLY!!!!! the job they started was already messed up, it was impossible to reach him, they haven't been back to check on their work...and he'll call me back at the end of the day????Its been almost 3 weeks..???/ what was the hold up., and what about the cracked curb?? he said its in the contract that they let the RCA settle for 2-3 weeks, and that we should have called him earlier to let him know about the crack!!!! Are you serious????? They should have communicated with us what the steps to the job would be and when we would be expecting them to return to finish it. Plus, the concrete curb should not have CRACKED in the first place!!! It hasn't been even driven on yet and it's already cracked!!!And we called him right away when we saw the cracks, but unfortunately we couldn't reach him., and if he was so busy doing other jobs, why did he agree to take ours> He stated on that phone call that he would be by the next day (which is a Friday) to check out the cracked curb. 10 am the next day we still haven't seen him, so we decided to call him again and find out what time he's stopping by, he said he did come to check the curb already, but he came at around 6am, when nobody was there to actually see him / talk to him. He said he'll dig it up, and pour new & better concrete. Well, what did he use in the first place>??? low budget concrete??? and what's with being there at 6am and not talking to any of us. He said he came early because he had another job in the Hamptons. So they poured the new concrete, of course we had to wait a couple of days for that to dry before they can pour the asphalt, but unfortunately it rained after 2 days and Labor Day weekend happened. So Tuesday following Labor Day, i called him to find out what time they are arriving to pour the Asphalt, its been a week since the new curb was done. Of course he never called me back that day. So i called him again the following day (Wednesday), finally i got in touch with him, and this time his excuse was that he couldn't do it Yesterday because his friend passed away over the weekend, and that he and texted me last night to tell me about it. But of course i never recvd any text, because he was texting my house number. Now i don't mean to be rude & insensitive, but what does his friend dying have to do with completing his jobs??? Our neighbor and us are so frustrated that its been a month, and the project is not done yet. He promised to come Friday which he did finally, and finished the job. Now i hope this driveway lasts, and that he stands by his warranty. We're keeping our fingers crossed.
