On Saturday Night at about 11pm I was getting cold so I looked at thermostat and temperature was down to 58 degrees in house. We just had over 2 feet of snow so I thought the vent pipe was blocked- went outside- nothing blocked. Looked at furnace- blower unit on, just no heat. Tried a few things but no luck. Next morning still the same but temp. in house was 47. Luckily I have a fireplace so we sat by that all day. Fireplace is gas so I knew it wasn't a gas problem. Called a few emergency repair numbers, but Jeff was only one who called back and said he could come. He came a few hours later (after digging his truck out from snow storm) and after trying several things determined it was the motor board on the furnace at least but could be other things but couldn't specifically say without the motor working first. He told me the unit was from 1987(29 years old!) and to repair the unit would be like putting a Band-Aid on, which I agreed. He said he would call the next morning with all my options. At 730 Monday morning he called, gave me the price to fix the unit I have, and the price of several different types of new ones. After weighing my options I decided to go with a new unit. He said his crew would be by the house in a few hours after picking up the materials. The guys showed up at 1030am, worked through to 4pm (they had to alter some duct work and piping to make the new modern unit fit where the old one was) and HEAT! The guys were very nice and answered all my questions throughout the day. I called an A/C friend I know to get his opinion before they started and he said their price was very fair, and based on what I told him they were doing exactly what needed to be done, without interfering with the A/C coil which sat atop the furnace.
All in all good experience with AIM and Jeff. Thanks guys!
