Basically, the took out a chimney liner, which was an upcharge, but in doing so they put soot through my entire basement and laundry area.  I ended up having to get my carpet cleaned and spent 16 hours cleaning.  I informed them that it would have been nice if they would have informed me that I needed to cover my belongings or they should bring tarps to do this.  They were here for 45 minutes and the work ended up costing me $500.

The chimneys were cleaned and two dampers were isnatlled.  I was told I needed a flue liner for a furnace chimney.  The parts were to be installed after the furnace was replaced.  I was informed by oil company technicians I did not need flue liner.  I called Steve at Clean Sweep and told him what I had been informed by oil company techs.  Steve said the parts were ordered  and he would not refund the deposit.  He went on to say the oil compnay wanted me to burn more oil so they lie.  I tried contacting the owner but they would not answer my calls, as well as trying to contact Steve who would not answer my calls.  I went to a neighbors so they would not see my name, he is an attorney, and called and spoke to Steve.  He again said he would not refund the deposit.
One month later I had an energy audit done at the house by a company called Lantern Energy through CL&P, my electric supplier.
The staff from Lantern Energy advised me the dampers were not needed and again confirmed I did not need a flu liner.
The matter has been referred to the Ct State Attorney General.

I scheduled this appointment a month in advance simply because I like to plan things in advance. It wasn't a matter of availability constraints by Clean Sweep Chimney Cleaners. Their representative, Steve, arrived on time. Which is great as we live on a tiny street even cab drivers in our area cannot find. Steve was very well mannered, had on a clean uniform, and did not waste time. He was not at all uptight or put off by our barking dogs (who were put in a back area and the cats who were free to roam while Steve was performing his inspection). We just moved into our home and had no idea when the chimneys were last cleaned. Steve inspected both chimneys and told us the chimneys were fine and did not need cleaning, although he did see water stains and went on the roof for further inspection. Turned out the water stains were old and not a current issue. We had one flu that was missing a cap. Steve promptly installed a new 9 X 13 stainless steel cap with a lifetime warranty. Total would have been $135, but with the company coupon we obtained through a mail flyer, we received $20 off. We had a lot of questions and Steve answered each in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Steve gave us helpful pointers on what we could do to maintain the condition of our system as well as save some money. Service was quick and efficient. I really appreciated the fact that Steve was forthcoming in letting us know we did not need a sweep for either chimneys or pass off the old water stains as a current issue. Too frequently companies take advantage of unaware clients and provide services that are not needed. His honesty speaks volumes about ethical business practices. Steve represented his company with professionalism, efficiency, and integrity. I would definitely use their service again.

Quick and efficient. Puts down protective cloths on the floor to protect from soot. Advertises with coupons, so affordable. Able to make appointment, within two weeks of my call. Calls the day before, to confirm appointment and gives a one-hour window of arrival. Calls if they will be late, due to traffic. Very thorough cleaning. This is my second experience with the company. The same man came to clean & inspect my chimney and remembered his work from the previous year and compared the records, before he came, so he knew to look for any problems, before he got here.
