We decided to replace the tired carpet in our condo. United Carpet was our second stop in search of solid vinyl wood plank flooring. We were fortunate to meet Art McLeod, who showed us a vast array of options, We settled on Karndeen and found one we though would go well next to the existing parquet wood flooring in the rest of the condo. He urged us to take a sample home, and we were glad he did, for our sense of the color match was way off. When we returned he shows us what he thought would work. He "right" sold us, (others had tried to get us to take a more expensive product than we needed or wanted) offering us a product a bit less expensive than what we picked, but he assured us it was of equal quality and better for our application, over a concrete floor (we live an a converted 1903 schoolhouse). His selection was right on the money. He kept us apprised of the order and delivery dates and set up an install date based on our availability. His install crew, Jim and Bob arrived on time, calling ahead. Unfortunately they discovered the concrete under the carpet had heaves and cracks and would require leveling. They were craftsmen and did the job carefully and completely. A one day install dragging into four days, but we didn't mind, because we knew the job would be done well and right. They went out of their way to accommodate us in timing of arrival, and always kept us apprised of any need for them to briefly engage in a repair or other activity. They were not going to leave until the job was done perfectly, and they held to that promise. They were pleasant, respectful, and a pleasure to have in our home. We are thrilled with the product, with the installation and our entire experience with United Carpet has been excellent. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

Carpet price good but installers scratched slate floor, gouged stair wood and without asking, changed stair carpet installation exposing unstained wood.

We didn't use them because I felt that they were really pushy and not really listening to what our needs were; they were just trying to move a product. The estimate process went fine. However, subsequent visits to their warehouse to select products were a little uncomfortable for my husband and me. There were just one or two products that they were really pushing. They were just not as accommodating. They ended up being kind of mean when I ultimately didn't want to work with them.

They charged us for a new pad that we did not receive. After we brought this to their attention, they resolved the issue.

It was not easy to find the right carpet in stock. Their best value is when you purchase from overrun or out of stock remnants, where they have perhaps several hundred items. Of course we could purchase from a wide range of manufaturers, but the price for similar quality would be significantly higher.United Carpet were extremely knowledgable and helpful. We selected a very high grade carpet with their top quality padding. They custom cut the piece, taking care to balance the pattern and we selected their finest custom binding.the installers arrived at the appointed time and were professional, neat and expert with the installation.We were quite happy with the price and quality, BUT as with our previous purchase the carpet was not ready when promised and I had to call to ask what was going on. Note that the delay was less than 10 extra days and in both cases they claimed there were problems with their suppliers - the custom binder and the padding. Hey, all I know is what United promised. My part of the bargain is to pay promptly and be there for the installation - no excuses from either party.

Mr. Reid has worked in the flooring business for several years, and I would not hesitate to recommend him and United Carpet! I will return to him for future purchases.

The carpeting they found for each home was exactly what we wanted. And the price couldn't be beat. They were prompt, thorough and very pleasant to work with. I have no complaints, lots of praise.

The entire transaction was vey satisfying. There are some excellent values when selecting from the high quality roll stock in the store. These are typically over-runs, mill ends and other material purchased at a large discount by United. They seem to pass along significant savings to the buyer, based on what we bought They also can order just about anything from the large range of distributers they use. The staff were extremely helpful in assisting our selection of the right goods. They loaned us pieces so we could look at the materials in our house to see the coordination with our other decor (this is not always possible, depending on what scraps they have from previous cutting).

They were helpful in measuring. For instance we wanted 11 foot wide cut from a larger width roll. As they were preparing to cut, they noticed that to center the pattern a slightly smaller width would look (centered) better. They called to explain and asked what we wanted to do. We went with their suggestion, as the slightly smaller size was no problem for our situation. We were very happy with this attention to detail. Similarly, they showed us a range of binding options and worked patiently with us so we were well informed to make a selection.

After binding, they noticed a small discoloration on the custom ordered bound round carpet. They delayed installation 3 days to remove the very slight dicoloration, which was very difficult to even see. Other than that, installation was done quickly and with precision.

We feel we were given excellent quality and very good service at an extremely reasonable price. The only slight inconvenience was that we had to wait to work with only one person, as they can be quite busy and the person you work with might be occupied with an out of store call. This was a minor inconvenience and will surely go to them first should we need more flooring at a later date.

The job was great. It's the best carpet we've ever had. He was perfect in every regard. He made no mess. He saw that other carpet needed fixing, so he went in the other room and fixed it at no charge.

They were prompt, professional, and did great work. I would highly recommend them. Their prices were very reasonable.

Prices were competetive compared with other installers. They have a nice show room on Monroe Avenue, and the company does hardwood flooring in addition to carpet. I brought home some large carpet samples to check which would look best. Both new carpet and carpet remnants (reduced price) were available at the showroom. They calculated the exact price, so no surprises. Price included pulling out the old carpet/padding and bringing to the curb. The installer even noticed that our stairs carpet was loose in some places and repaired it free of charge.
