They put down tarps to protect our lawn and garden. When they were done there was no debris left.
The new roof looks great and we are pleased with the work. We have had a lot of rain this week and so far there is no evidence of any leaks.
Right from the get-go John was on time, professional, knowledgeable and not overly sales-y. He offered up a stack of literature on the products he'd be using (nobody else did) and explained his business philosophy. Because the roof was leaking during heavy downpours, he offered to bump me ahead in his schedule if I offered him the job.
John's pricing was extremely competitive and all things considered, I was more than happy to give him the job. And it was clear he was appreciative of that. The start date was a couple weeks out but that was already quicker than what other contractors offered.
Glen and the roofing crew showed up and went to work. These guys -- Glen in particular -- were super professional and a pleasure to deal with. This roof was no picnic, with a steep pitch, multiple valleys, dormers, and pipes sticking out of the roof. Throw in some cranky tenants and 95 degree temps but Glen was the ultimate professional about it all. He communicated what was going on and had good rapport with the neighbors. Everything was cleaned up at the end of the day, and at the end of the job the grounds looked better than when they started.
The roof looks great and looking around the neighborhood I can tell it's a quality job (e.g. no weave in the valleys). It hurts to spend that kind of coin but I was happy to do so with John and Glen.
As the installation was underway I noticed things were not progressing as we contracted for and the level of workmanship was not as expected. They never installed new backerboard so the tile is not very even. And John had promised to reinforce the areas where the grab bars were to go and since the walls were not removed this did not happen. Fast forward to end of project. First shower, basement leaking from drain that was rigged like with duct tape? The shower fixture had never been anchored. The bottom of the shower door came off. The two coats of paint were barely one and the tile had not been cleaned of grout. To their credit John was resposive and came out with his subcontractor to take care of these things. And after a few more showers noticed the door was not functioning properly and noticed it had been installed crooked. We are currently trying to resolve this last issue.
This was not an example of a professional and at one point John actually insulted me by saying I was looking for problems. All I was looking for was a job well done and not one where I stand there every day disappointed with my choice of contractors.
Update: I contacted Kohler who was the door manufacturer and they recommended having someone come out and evaluate. They advised door was installed incorrectly and I am trying to work with Kohler and possibly Trinity to correct this.
"(Removed members personal information) I am sorry you were left unhppy. At the time of the visit to your home i told you specifically it was a job we probably would'nt do due to the small size of the project and our current overloaded work schedule. I probably should have communicated that better, and for that i apologize. We wish the best of luck with you projects. Best regards, John Hoagland"
John was very knowledgeable, helpful and answered all my questions. The
did a complete tear off, fixed a few problem areas and also trimmed a
tree that overhung on my home. I was very satisfied with the whole
process. The crew was great, cleaned up every nail and showed real
concern about how they left the area when the were done at the end of
each day.
We ended up with the windows we wanted, and unexpectedly all new siding on the back of the house where the new door was installed because the siding we removed was to short to use on the new opening. John has a sider come and wrap the trim on the windows and reside the back of the house and still stayed within the 4 day time frame for the job. Nothing phased him, he is a true professional, including having a dumpster come and get all the trash on the last day rather than blocking the driveway for the four days of the project. We highly recommend Trinity Home Renovations and are currently considering using them for a new deck off the new sliding door they installed.
"[member name removed], I am very sorry that you feel this way. I actually have my office line forwarded to my cell phone so i can responsive to my customers when out of the office during the day. So i apologize if you found the ringback tone unprofessional, most of our customers like it. Because of the very harsh winter we were inundated with phone calls about ice damming issues such as yours, and have a tremendous backlog of customers to get to. So instead of promising on something i knew we couldnt deliver on, i offered to provide you the number of another contractor that could do a good job for you in a timely fashion. Its unfortunate the weather has everyone looking for a ray of sunshine, but i truly feel your feedback is unjustified."
