Town and Country Cleaners

Recent change in hours--close an hour earlier now--so had to come back another day to pick up items. Cash and check only, so that is a little bit annoying when there is a larger transaction amount now that so many transactions are via debit or credit card. Not everyone carries their check book or wads of cash around. However, they did a great job with the laundering and pressing of dress shirts.

the shirts and sweaters came back as expected, but the down pillow, which was 30 years old, came back looking brand new. it was expensive to have the down pillow cleaned, but much less expensive than buying a new one.

The service and quality had been excellent for the last 2 1/2 years. However, two shirts - laundered at separate times, were returned to me such that the plackets (the layers of fabric that hold the buttons and buttonholes) were different lengths! The buttons no longer line up with the buttonholes. The owner said that a number of shirt manufacturers (including Jos A Bank and Lands End - the two brands I have) use a facing material inside the placket that shrink sometimes. However, he was unable to explain why this is the first and only time this has happened to any of my shirts - ever. The shirts that Town and Country ruined have been laundered and pressed there for 2 1/2 years along with all of my other shirts, but all he could say was that my shirts were made with poor quality facing material. No offer of any kind to make good. Their quality has declined over the last year. Shirts that were once clean, crisp and professional looking are somewhat wrinkled - but now this. I believe that their finishing equipment and/or those that use it over-pressed these shirts and caused the facing matierial to shrink. I am now forced to look elsewhere.
