I've used several vet services over the years being an animal lover and I have never met a vet that works at educating his clients as well as Ed Gschrey does. This man has called me in the middle of a surgery, and not too many vets do that. If something goes wrong, he explains what happened and how he responded to it. He's had surgeries where I've lost animals because of the surgery. He walked me through every detail and I've even contacted other well-known ferret surgeons across the country, and they were like, they have never had this happen. It was just one of those fluke things. It was my contention the ferret was going anyway. They know what they are doing. The animals do when they know if something should happen or shouldn't happen, and I wasn't paying as close attention. I should have let him go on his terms. I love that place. I have never seen vet techs love every animal that comes in. I walked in with this one guy and the next thing, the one vet tech got him wrapped around her neck and saying she has a new fur collar. I have gone to other places where the vet techs don't even want to touch the ferrets and he was supposed to be the vet expert with ferrets so we don't go there anymore. In fact, this guy is so good and so reasonable. I get a discount because of all the rescue work I do. I have a friend who actually comes down from Ontario, Canada, a 4-hour drive to bring her ferret down here to go to the vet. I had people drive down from Fort Drum to see him or from Syracuse to see him. In one case, the owner of the ferret was told that it would cost her $1,000 for the surgery and she came down here and the doc gave her my discount and he removed the tumor that was supposed to cost $1,000. He gave her an implant and a full exam, and a blood glucose test and she paid $350-some. They have been doing this for almost 30 years. The last time the gal actually came here, dropped off her ferret and flew to Colorado for a World Power Lifting Competition so I took the ferret in, and he called her when she got back to Canada and explained how the session went and what she should and should not be concerned about. It's pretty awesome!

We have taken both of our dogs over the last 13 years and can only say great things about Dr. Greschey. Our first dog had to major health issues in his life. The first was an ACL issue, Dr. Greschey clearly laid out our options and worked with us on a payment plan. The dog recovered great and had no lasting issues. The second issue was the dog suffering from a major autoimmune disease. They took great care of him and worked up treatment plans and often offered us options including offering us suggestions of over the counter products that could be used comparative to specific canine products. They never shied away from offering honest answers and were compassionate when we had to put him down later.
Our second dog has been lucky with no major health issues and he actually loves a visit to the Vet.
I can honestly say that we are extremely happy to found such a wonderful vet who will take the time to listen to our questions and give us well though answers and remedies. I am often amazed how well month later Dr. Greschey will remember previous conversations, issues and details of the dogs looks and health.

I selected that the work performed was NOT performed at my home. It was at a veterinary office. So requiring that I say when my house was built shouldn't have to be required here. :)

It was a pretty bad experience. The dog didn't get walked. The bedding was wet with urine. The dog was wet with urine and smelled awful. The price was fair but it wasn't fair for the quality we received. I would not take my dog there ever again.

They were rough and cruel.

Dr. Gschrey and the staff of South Towne are very professional and personable. My puppy and I were seen promptly. Dr. Gschrey explained what he was doing and answered my questions. I have been bringing my various dogs to South Towne since 1976, and their service has always been excellent.

The veterinarian here graduated first in his veterinarian class, which is a good quality to know. The vet likes people just as much as he does dogs. This vet would also spend as much time with you as you need him too. The only thing I think he should improve is the wait time as he is always running late. I guess because he is in such high demand is the reason why there is a longer wait time.
