The quality of work was very poor, mostly the flooring. The tradition pieces between the kitchen and the stairs/bedroom are very sloppy. They didn't even use matching pieces. They left big gaps between the flooring and the walls making it difficult to put molding on, which they didn't even do. They also didn't put molding on the back hallway. The biggest issue is that it has taken, going on four years now to resolve this issue.

They sent somebody else who put the stove and the microwave. They put them too close in proximity and so when someone else came out, they said I could have a fire because the appliances are too close in proximity to one another. So I called them up and asked them if they would come out and move it up and they refused to do it. They said the time had expired and they would not come out and do it. I said whoever put it in didn’t put it in appropriately but it didn’t make any difference to them. They never came out to do it so I’m going to have somebody to come and do that. I noticed I couldn’t see the backboard of the stove so when the light went out, I called somebody out to put in the lights and they said I had a fire hazard. I expect them to stand up behind their work and if you knew you did wrong and you sent somebody out who was not qualified or didn’t know what he was doing then I would think that the company would have stood up behind and come out and rectify it but they said no. Their price is too high.

I paid approximately $178 for the garage door opener itself, from Sears...including the "special" sale price and a coupon code discount, including tax. I had to pick up the box myself from Sears, but that was much easier than anticipated because the single box was much smaller than expected. I decided to have Sears remove the old opener, discard it, and install the new opener. I can't recall the exact installation fee, but I believe it was approximately $200. I was happy with the overall cost, and there were no surprise add on fees for the installation. The installer came on time and finished on time. The entire installation took approximately three hours from the installer's arrival to his departure. He was pleasant to deal with and left the job site clean and tidy.
However, the rest of my story is a nightmare.
One of the main reasons I purchased this particular opener was the battery backup feature. This is designed to allow garage door operation during power outages. A few hours after the installer left the control box near the garage door leading to the inside of my house began displaying an error code indicating the battery was not charging. I'm fairly certain this condition was present before the installer left my home, but neither I nor he noticed it. In his case it's possible he did notice it but chose to ignore it.
I called the number on the sticker left near the control box and reported the problem. Someone else came the following day and informed me that there was a known problem with the battery. The battery manufacturer, I was told, had recalled these batteries. The man took the battery away and assured me he would be back in a week at the most to install a new one.
He never came back. During the rest of the winter, for approximately two more months, I kept calling once a week to see when I would received a new battery. I was assured their shipment of batteries would arrive very soon, and I would be getting a call in a few days. I did not receive a call. Once again, for the umpteenth time, I called and asked why I still did not have a replacement battery. I received another hollow apology and was told this time the manager would intervene and get results. Of course nothing happened. I called once more, left a message, and frankly gave up on ever receiving a battery. They had been stringing me along for months.
So now I have a garage door opener without the very important battery backup feature.
Three days ago the opener failed. It will not open or close the door now. The opener is still under warranty so I called to report it. I have called twice a day for three  days and left messages each time. No one answers the phone and no one has returned my call.
If I don't hear from them soon, I have decided to report this to the Better Business Bureau and/or the Attorney General, even though I'm not certain the latter has any authority to intervene here. I may or may not bother contacting the Manager at Sears because I have dealt with him before and am sorry to report that he did not provide the corrective action promised for a different problem.
I don't think I will be buying any major appliances from Sears again.

They did a really good job.  We paid $105 for cleaning and protection.  My wife was here when they came to do the job.  I think it was two guys that came out but I’m not sure.  They come in teams I guess.  We will use their services again in the future.

I bought the garage door opener during the 2007 Father's Day weekend sale, and Gary (Sears contractor) called Monday to set up an appointment to install it Tuesday afternoon. He arrived ten minutes early and brought his own ladders, portable workbench and tools. Because the box had been opened (something I had not noticed), he had me come out to garage so we could re-open it together and inventory all the parts, which were intact. He was thorough, explained how the keypad and remotes worked, and cleaned up after he was done. I was pleased with my last two Craftsman garage door openers in previous homes, both of which were chain models, but I much prefer the quietness of the belt. I thought the Sears $130 install price was high for less than two hours of work, but the sales price on belt opener was good, which helped to make up for it.

Sears came out to my home in a timely manner. The price was reasonable. The tech only charged me for the service call out to my home when he could have charged me more for the call. The service that Sears provided was good. I would recommend them again.
