Rod Coffey Heating and Cooling

Rod Coffey Heating and Cooling was hired to install a new combination heating / hot water unit. He was initially communicative and easy to work with. He installed the unit and hauled away the old boiler and hot water heater. I paid promptly. I thought it was a positive transaction. However, the unit never worked properly. It would not fully heat the home (I set thermostat to 69 and it was NEVER above 63 in house). The supposedly on demand hot water would flash from hot to cold or just never heat. The combination unit kept getting error codes and would shut down.. For a while, Coffey tried to resolve the issue. Because he was responsive, I was patient. Yet, after many months of trying to problem solve, the unit still didn't work. Then I discovered that the connecting pipes had multiple leaks and severe corrosion, just months after being installed. I hired other HVAC contractors to come over and evaluate the situation and they all determined that the unit was not properly installed. I contacted the manufacturer and reported the issue and communicated this to Rod Coffey. HE NEVER RESPONDED. He would not answer calls, texts or letters. Then I discovered there was a rebate available through my gas / electric company and asked him for the information needed to apply. After months of trying to communicate with him about the improper install, he did text me back about the rebate: "You have all you need." I never heard back from him after that. Throughout the year long ****, I had to pay other companies to de-freeze pipes because the unit did not properly heat the home. Inevitably, I had to pay a considerable amount for the unit to be re-installed by another HVAC contractor. Finally, I lost out on a sizable rebate for energy efficient boiler / hot water heater because he would not supply me the information required. I suffered emotionally from the stress of never knowing if I would have heat or hot water at home or if my pipes would freeze and leak. I suffered financially having to pay other providers and contractors to problem solve and re-install. If Rod Coffey had been communicative and decent (as he seemed initially), I would have been fine chalking it up to human error, have come to a financial compromise and moved on. Unfortunately not only did he cause emotional and financial strain, he became downright nasty. Therefore, it is now my obligation to warn others. I do not wish to hurt anyone personally, but as this is technically a professional business entity, please heed my advice and DO NOT HIRE ROD COFFEY HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING.
