Approximately two weeks later, I was scheduled for installation between 2 and 5 P.M. The week between ordering the windows and the scheduled installation, I sold my house. The buyer's inspection was scheduled at the same time as the installation. I called the office, spoke with Brendan, and asked if my appointment could be switched with a morning appointment due to the inspection. Without hesitating, he accommodated my request.
Joe arrived a little after nine to install the windows. Since it was rainy and a little muddy, he again removed his shoes . He removed and installed the glass in the driveway. One glass needed to be shaved down. Rather than just use the electric in my garage, Joe is so polite he first asked if he could use it. Joe was in and out of my house four times, removing his shoes each time he entered. Joe also cleaned up any mess he may have made in my driveway. As a representative of Ray Sands Glass, Joe is definitely an asset to the company.
This is the second time I've used Ray Sands Glass, and if I wasn't leaving the area, I would not hesitate to hire this company again.
Overall it did take 2 hrs (what they told me it would take ahead of time) and I couldn't be more pleased.
A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. A real surprise from a company with the
outstanding reputation enjoyed by Ray Sands Glass. As noted above, I contracted with Ray Sands
for repair of two items. I chose them not because of price (they were not the
least expensive) but because they professed the most positive attitude
regarding the replacement of our patio table top. Here’s how it went:
1. PATIO DOOR GLASS: It took three
trips to do this right. Measurements were “estimated” on the first trip,
i.e., instead of removing the trim and actually measuring the glass to be
replaced, they took a guess as to the correct size of the glass needed. When
they returned, it turned out that the estimate was wrong and they had to return
to the shop to make another attempt. When installing the final cut, the wood
trim on the door was splintered in one area and most of the finish nails were
not set properly.
2. PATIO TABLE TOP: It is this experience that leads to my greatest displeasure with
Ray Sands Glass. When we ordered the top we explicitly said we did NOT want an
umbrella hole in the center of the table top. When they finally returned with
the table, not only had they cut a hole in the top, but it appears they’d never
heard of a hole saw. The hole was apparently cut by drilling a series of and frac14;-inch
holes in a circular pattern using the table frame as a template. In the process
they chewed up the table frame. A very amateurish job. We did of course
protest and they offered a $50.00 credit. We accepted this credit, but remain
unhappy.
the job they did was very good, though.
Next time (I hope there isn't one) I'll pay the extra $30 for them to come to the house.
