This review is for the project manager for my project that quality homes completed. My project manager was Tom Ledtke. My job had a slow start not related to Tom but when Tom took my job over he made up for the lost time in a big way. I had an addition put on, siding, facia, soffit, gutters and new roofing also drywall and insulation and electric. This project was complete in one month. Tom had the next move implemented the day after the other project was complete moving the project at a warp speed. I’m super pleased with organization skills and he was very personable and professional always answering questions and always answering his phone! Very important qualities in my book! Thanks Tom for a job well done

We hired this company because my husband had a good experience with them back in the 90's. I wish they would have lived up to the standard's. We hired them for 2 different projects. The first one was new windows, door & roof in our Lake Room. Our sales man Mike told us that it would be done by the end of November. We constantly had to ask him for updates & when I was going to be started. He had taken 1/2 of the money for this project & 1/3 for the 2 job. He was always full of excuses & most times it took days for him to get back to us. The first job was finally completed in February! Our second job of redoing our front porch was supposed to be started by then. My husband & I were getting increasley frustrated w/ Mike & his lack of communication. We told him that we wanted to cancel the second job because now COVID had hit & nothing had been done, including getting the permits. The owner Kenny finally called us after we called the office & Mike several times. He tells us that Mike no longer works for him & doesn't know anything about our job. My husband says he wants the job cancelled & our money back.$5,000!!He goes into a pity party about how times are tough for him & he had to pay Mike his commison! Really!!! We finally got 3,600 back but probably not as much as Mike made to suck at his job. Home owners be aware!

Now we are trying to sell the house and the Home Inspector found mold. He determined it was combination of the blown in insulation covering the soffit vents and the new roof. We spoke to both companies and they are pointing the finger at the other company as to who is responsible. In the meantime, I am being held up on the sale of my house.
Description of Work: The siding, windows and deck went well. The work was done about 9 years ago. Quality Homes sub-contracted with a company to come in and blow insulation into our attic.

After many estimates we went with Quality of Homes for a complete tear off. The sales person was told that we had been having leak issues above our kitchen. We were promised that all would be taken care of. The workers were happy and appeared to do a great job. Sadly the following winter (2014) was a really bad winter. We had not 1 but 5 leaks. Icicles hanging in our attic. (sad) But Quality of Homes was here and chopped ice and made several repairs in the summer of 2015. We also insulated the whole house that summer. Winter of 2015 (mild winter) we had a leak in the kitchen. Quality was again here instantly to help. Work was done again in our main problem spot this summer. Fingers crossed that all is corrected as we had a complete kitchen remodel done this summer by quality of home. Trusting that they will keep with promise that is kitchen leaks again, they will fix the ceiling at no cost to us. I marked this as not hire again. That is for a roof. But am thrilled with my kitchen. Quality of Homes follow-up has been excellent to us!

Went great! Very happy with the whole process. Great guys (Dave and Brick) Very professional, neat, clean personable and easy to work with. All workmanship was very professional. I love love love my new kitchen. Quotes from other companies may have been a little cheaper but were starting labor. Quality gave me a total labor and there were no hidden cost. Paid an up charge for better floor and extra lighting. Had a complete kitchen gut to the studs, a wall opened up into the dinning room, a wall extended to move refrigerator to the end of the kitchen, dishwasher moved and drained to the basement, extra outlets and more lighting the whole ball of wax. Not a lot of interaction from Quality of homes once the job was started, but enough. Would recommend if Dave and Brick were the contractors doing the job!

obviously not applicable With reference to the cost and date, never got a cost and I don't recall the date of the walk though
Description of Work: They came to measure my basement for finishing it and making another living space, i figured the job to be around 50K AND had the money. They never got back to me on drawings, a price, or even a phone call. Being in this business myself (many years ago) I was disgusted and wouldn't suggest them to anyone. By the way to be fair, I did NOT call them to see where the info was. I figured if they didn't have the common courtesy to call me back, I didn't want them anyway.

The process ran very smoothly from start to finish. Our contact person at QH was named Phil and he was very attentive. He would defer to his colleagues for any questions we had that he couldn't answer himself. Our biggest concern was staying within our budget because our project was rather large. Our kitchen renovation included removal of a wall, raising our ceiling height by 10 inches, and all new wiring. We also needed new cabinets, counter tops, flooring, lighting and fixtures. We started out by choosing our ideal material choices and when the cost was over budget, we were able to work with Phil's partner Laura to choose alternative cabinets and fixtures to achieve the same look but for about 30% less than our original choices. We went with solid surface quartz counter tops and cabinets that were not custom, but we're thrilled with the results. The contractor who worked on our project, Glenn, was very knowledgeable and explained every step of the demo and installation as the work progressed. He was able to catch a couple of oversights in the original layout that we changed to make our kitchen function more efficiently. The project was scheduled to be started in the beginning of March, but to our surprise they were able to begin a few weeks early. The total timeline for the remodel was about 4 weeks from the day they started demo to the day it was completed. Phil managed the timeline of the contractor with the delivery of the materials so that there was very little "wasted" time during the project. We did have one incident of miscommunication in which our old flooring was removed though we were told it would not be. We had planned to have the new floor installed over the existing floor but the old one was removed which caused there to be additional labor costs. When we expressed our concerns over the extra cost, Phil's supervisor spoke with us and negotiated a compromise that we both felt was fair. Overall, my husband and I are very pleased with the service that we received and we absolutely love our new kitchen. It has completely transformed the feel of our house.

Response from Quality Homes Of Rochester
In reference to report made by [member name removed], Quality Homes of Rochester is responding to several of the statements made. 1. Quality Homes showed up much earlier than expected. This project became a job on January 5th, 2012 for a spring install. We had a wet spring with cool weather in the spring of 2012. We started the job in June of 2012. There were no deposits made at the time of the sale. 2. Quality Homes of Rochester did not take precautions to protect shrubbery. We take every precaution to protect shrubbery, surrounding landscaping and the house itself. With over 11,000 pounds of shingles being removed from the home, it can cause some damage to the yard area. We did power wash the home after completing the job. 3. Job took two weeks to finish Materials were delivered on June 5th, 2012 to the job site and our crew started on June 6th, 2012. We installed the gutters on the front of the home on June 13th, 2012 which was after the roof was installed. We had a total of seven working days on the roof. For a 24 square, two layer tear off roof, installing vents and a power vent, seven day install is not out of reason.

What a turn-around from the other guy! Ken McLure was very personal, honest, and professional. His crews were courteous, efficient, and highly skilled in their trades. Although each phase of the project,- siding, windows, porch construction, even the roofing, which was supposedly already complete, - had its blunders left by the first guy to be corrected , Ken and his team demonstrated the expertise, superb project management, accountability, and coordination to complete the job correctly and without further issue. It was fun to watch, learn from, and even work with them in choosing materials and styles, and designing some of the details to transform our mid-19th century home into what we had dreamed. People are complimenting this house all around town and we are proud to say it was Quality Homes of Rochester who brought it all together. It's just a shame that all home improvement contractors can't conduct business like this.
Description of Work: We hired Ken McLure's Quality Homes of Rochester to finish a large project begun and left by an incompetent and fraudulent contractor. Quality Homes (QH) came in and secured our situation, launching a thorough assessment of the remainder of the project, the materials on-hand, and what work had to be undone & redone properly, documenting their findings with pictures. QH corrected the roofing & flashing mistakes, stopped our house from leaking, installed the 7 remaining windows, (some requiring framing modifications) finished installing the CDX sheeting & foam-board insulation, sided & trimmed the entire house, and constructed a large covered front porch & stairs per our original plans. Ken also introduced us to a fine attorney, and worked with that office, offering to help us try to recoup some of our losses.

I do not remember the cost since it was several years ago. However, we received at least 4 quotes from other siding contractors and Quality Homes was the best, based upon businesses who were licensed. Kenny, the owner, came to our home several times during the process to answer any questions and to make sure the work was progressing well. At the completion of the job he told us to call if there were any problems with the installation. There were not any. Four and a half years later, our house still looks great. I can't say that I have a single complaint. I would definitely go with Quality Homes again for siding.

We called them to set up an appointment for an estimate, they were fast and responsive. Put down the down payment for the service. They said it would be 4-6 weeks which was fine. They showed up on a Monday with no phone call to warn us and got to work, and left before we could pay the final part of the bill. The manager then came to the house a few days later (again unannounced) to pick up the check for the rest of the bill. All went well, except for the non existent phone calls to let us know they were coming by.

We hired Kenny a few years back to redo our bathroom and install energy efficient windows in our older home. He's very punctual and professional. He gave us the price and helped us get financing for it. They came and did the work and did a great job. When we wanted to redo our old asbestos siding we called Kenny again and received the same prompt, professional service. We'd hire Kenny any time for anything.

They gave excuse after excuse why they could not start on time. They told us it would be done by Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then December 13, 2012. They "finished" according to them 12/18/2012. They are NOT done according to us. They did not do half of the electrical as requested. They had one person work at a time on a kitchen that in there words is "twice the size of a normal kitchen". A lot of wasted time, sometimes would not show until 1 pm then leave at 4pm. Counter tops installed in 2 hours by subcontractors, no other work done by QH that day. Damage to hardwood floors in other rooms. No drop cloths, very minor clean up. Found brand new drawers filled with trash. We were told different things would be installed by different people only to have those people tell us that was not their job. Two of their workers were fabulous and did great work, however, we had four different workers throughout the job. Their flooring subcontractor was dragging plywood across brand new hardwood floors and then stomped cardboard boxes on the same floor until my eight year old son said "I don't think you should do that and you need to pull up your pants too." When this was told to QH they started trying to "guess" what crew it was. They gave us no time between the new ceiling being installed and the cabinets being installed to paint saying they needed to "keep us on time" then went over their time by more than a week. There were things that were not done correctly and we have been waiting two weeks for them to come back and fix them and have called at least 4 times in the two weeks and keep getting told that they have to talk about it and send someone out to fix the issues. When I said "I'm not happy" I am told "Neither are we." Well then, fix the issues and we can all be happy and you can get the final payment. A lot of their finish work is already starting to fall apart. Thresholds in doorways are coming off because they were nailed when they were supposed to be glued, etc. They needed to patch a spot in the hardwood floors from where they moved the door and used the wrong flooring! We left them a brand new piece of cherry flooring to fix it and they walked right past the cherry flooring and grabbed a piece of walnut flooring that was from another room and never asked about the difference. They played a lot of games and gave a lot of excuses. I will never hire them again.
Description of Work: This was a kitchen remodeling project. We removed the old cabinets, counters and appliances. They installed new flooring, moved a door, installed new cabinetry, windows, plumbing, vents and new ceiling. They subcontracted the flooring and electrical work, counter tops and cabinet purchase/construction.

They sent a very good salesman out but never tell you they don't do the work themselves, they contract all work and people they sent to me I would never use on anything. They were p****** in my yard, cut down part of my stockade fence without asking, left my attic a mess, missed venting, some holes in roof house not sealed right, a hole in one portions which still isn't repaired, framing on chimney not right. No one insp. work after finish. Been waiting since Sept 28, 2012; just would not deal with these people again. If you do use them remember to make sure who's gonna do the work and check them out with the BBB since they love to tell you their company is on that list. I don't think they would last long if the BBB knew what they were doing with their customers.

The work was started on April 4, 2011 and on April 21, 2011 Ms. B signed a completion certificate stating that she was satisfied with all the work. On approximately September 28, 2012 Quality Homes of Rochester was contacted by Ms. B about trim and chimney issues, We went over and made repairs per her request and also replaced 60 feet of gutters free of charge. We understand that things happen and when they do we make every attempt to satisfy the homeowner. Even thought the repair was over a year later, we still took care of it free of charge. We have a one year workmanship warrantee with each contract. Since we repaired her trim and chimney there have been no other issues brought up by the homeowner.

We chose Quality Homes of Rochester because they offer financing options that other companies don't offer and they are close to us. They did get back to us fairly quickly to set up an appointment, and the gentleman who came to do the estimate did show up on time. The reason we decided not to go with this company (or even get an estimate) is that he showed up to do a roof repair estimate without a ladder, and attempted to do the estimate anyway. I'm not a roofer (otherwise I'd do the job myself), but it seems only logical that if you are going to give a potential customer an accurate estimate, you probably need to actually get up on the roof and inspect it closely to do an accurate assessment. We didn't even let him give us an estimate.

Salesmen of Quality Homes of Rochester are employees of the company. They are not allowed in New York State to climb ladders and get on roofs for insurance purposes. All of our roofs for over 20 years have been quoted from the ground and by satellite images. We cannot break the law in order to quote a roof. If our salesman does not feel their quote is accurate, they can have our roofer stop by to check their measurements. In this case it was not needed.

They were punctual and the work was done fairly quickly. The main issue has been with the finishing. There are numerous places around the house that siding pieces weren't capped off (I don't know the actual terminology) or where siding nails are already coming loose or put in very conspicuous places. For the money spent, it does not seem as nice of a job. Would not hire again.

We had work done on our house round 1995 I believe, yes it was many years ago but the level of quality was so horrible I feel it necessary to warn here. We had to have ALL the work they did COMPLETELY redone. The porch that was remodelled into a dining area with skylight started to have drips and drops until the room was completely unusable, the entire ceiling began to rot and fall apart starting from the skylight and moving outward. The room fell into disuse for years while my mother ponied up the money to have someone else completely redo it. This company should have been sued but at the time she was also dealing with a back injury from work and was unable to pursue the option with all the other things going on in her life. Years later someone came to fix the vent they put in the bathroom and the repairman informed us that the Quality Homes contractor had the exhaust routed into the attic, NOT to the outside! So basically tons of moisture was being pumped into our attic each time someone ran the vent! They took two walls out of a bedroom...you can see with the naked eye where the windows used to be! The screws started to protrude from the wall. This only happens if you cut corners and don't use the proper drywall screws. My mother lost a ton of money on this remodelling project, and we lived with its effects for years. Quality Homes is lucky my mother had so many life hardships occur at the same time to the point where she was unable, physically, and mentally, to pursue them and hold them accountable for their shoddy workmanship.
