In all cases, excellent quality work was performed in a timely fashion at a reasonable price. I have never needed to all Mark back in to resolve an issue.

Mark was somewhat unprofessional from the beginning. When we initially met, he arrived 10 minutes earlier than our agreed upon time and called us angry that we weren't home. We decided to continue to stick with him. We needed an interior wall repaired and painted along with exterior painting/stucco and wood repairs on our tudor home. The initial request was the interior wall repair and painting. We chose to keep the original color which was a suede paint. When the job was complete, only the damaged portion of the wall was painted so it appeared very uneven. Our white built in shelves had the suede paint all over them and there were still white blotches on the wall from the repairs. We emailed Mark and requested they fix these issues which he did. It appeared much improved. Mark blamed the job on the suede paint but he had known from the beginning that was what we were requesting and never said there was an issue until afterwards. For the exterior, our issues were peeling stucco and rotting wood. Most of this stemmed from clogged gutters which Mark appropriately identified and cleaned out for us/repaired. Unfortunately, the stucco repairs were horrible. There was one portion of the home where they attempted to re-apply the stucco that was much thicker than the rest and appeared as a large square patch. Mark did not mention before committing to the job that he was unable to apply stucco and so, I took this as him practicing out of his scope. Mark also identified some chimney issues and we agreed for him to go ahead with the repairs. He told us these repairs would last us 8 years. It didn't take long (5 months) for the paint to start peeling again and for the chimney from the exterior to start cracking/crumbling. We found pieces of cement and stucco all over our garden that spring and asked Mark to come back after paying him a significant amount of money. After several emails back and forth without responses, we decided to have someone else come fix his mistakes. We are very happy with the work we received from the other company. They reported "Last Stucco Contractor - This person's repair job created the bulk of the mess that exists. Before he started, he should have assessed the main root of the water problem being the upper part of the chimney allowing the water to infiltrate before he covered it with new stucco. His process of application caused an even bigger problem. He used a Ramset nail gun to secure a mesh lathe to the original stucco of the chimney. This caused and created an abundance of new fractures to the stucco below allowing huge amounts of water to penetrate. See pic # 2127 & 2128 showing the the original coat of stucco below the last contractors. The fractures from the driven nails went all the way back to the original brick of the chimney causing them to separate with the freezing temps. I could originally see the needed replacement of the exposed 7ea rows of bricks before I started the project, but the last stucco job hid the unforeseen 20 plus rows of brick that had been destroyed. Ultimately the work by this person turned this into a complete removal of both his and the original layer of stucco back to the brick on the whole chimney." Mark seemed to have a lot going on with his personal life, giving us several excuses for his delayed responses. My advise to Mark is not to commit if it is out of your expertise or if you have too many things going on in your personal life and are unable to balance that with the job.

Mark and his crew are very professional, thorough and take great pride in a job well done. We love how the house looks and have had more compliments from our neighbors than I can count. There is no one else I would trust with painting my house. They definitely exceeded my expectations.

Mark and his team were reliable, professional, and highly skilled. Mark was at our home multiple times checking to make sure the job was going per his high standards. No corners were cut. The house looks perfect and beautiful. The communication between myself, Mark, and his crew made the job go super smoothly. And they had great suggestions. I couldn't be happier. I wanted a company with a good reputation and that's what I got!

Pittsford Painting came referred to me by a neighbor. Everything I was told by my neighbor was 100% right on my experience. Mark came out to quote the project. He walked through stwp by step with us, asking questions, learning about the past maintenance and suggested other items that my wife and I could do ourselves and how if we were interested. We received the quote on schedule (couple of days). This was fast given that we thought Mark would not be able to fit us in until several months out. Then we got a call stating he could fit us in later that we due to a change in schedule. He would bring a full team in and complete the project in one day...

8 people showed up on time. The crew that arrived a few minutes early without Mark (owner/project manager) was very polite and took the lead. Everyone seemed to know what they were to do and got started organizing. Everything was completed in 1 day... Despite being in full sun/ no shade all day, with 95 degree temperatures and high humidity. Amazing! However, as the siding was drying, it was apparent there was residue and a swirl pattern from washing appeared.

I received an email from Mark stating they completed the work but they were unhappy with the siding and would come out next day to rewash the entire house. They did, rewashed all the siding, and also a spot on the roof collecting moss (not in contract) without any hassle. Mark even sent out one of his finish team members to inspect the work and confirm it was up to their standard.

Throughout the project, Mark was very communicative by phone, email and text. He verified existing paint on the siding when they began painting, to confirm it was there from the previous painter. They take great pride in their work... No drips or spills, perfect miters, and a job done right without being asked. They treated my project as if it were their own house.

As a result, they are priced a little higher than other bids you will receive... But to me Pittsford Painting is a bargain. Other contractors need to be managed, negotiated with, and the price for the work they did not expect drives up the cost.

Mark and team are timely, fast, efficient, high quality and a great contractor if you want a job done right and are willing to paying a fair price for this level of quality, service and professionalism. One tip... Schedule well in advance... Pittsford Painting is in high demand. You can't go wrong.

The owner and his crew arrived on the day and time as promised and worked throughout the day readying our two tier deck for the Summer season, completing the job in approximately two days. Their professionalism and attention to detail throughout the project was greatly appreciated.
As mentioned previously, in the Summer of 2015 we had Pittsford Painting repair and paint the exterior trim on our house. We would highly recommend Pittsford Painting & Home Improvement to those individuals who want their project done right, on time and appreciate outstanding service.     

First let me say that the owner, Mark McCarthy, is very professional in all dealings.  He is on the job site every day, either overseeing the highly skilled workers in his employment or doing hands-on work.  He maintains a no nonsense work environment, even though his most highly skilled workers are his family members. Mark is one of the most honest men I have ever worked with - he went over his VERY detailed bill with me, explaining how he arrived at each line item.  There is so much pride in the workmanship of the Pittsford Painting team and it is apparent by their willingness to go over and above what is expected of them. The leveling of the brick pavers took a huge amount of time and strength, James and Kevin were able to bring my pathway back to its original look.  No, I would say it looks even better than the original!

The workplace is always kept tidy and at the end of each day my house was left looking as clean, if not better, than how they found it.   There is an old-school pride in craftsmanship that is very refreshing to encounter.  I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone.  I have been in my house since 1983 and there are many things that need a little attention and some that need ALOT of attention - Mark made it easy for me to prioritize what needed to be done and helped me with options that were within my price range. 

Going forward I plan to contact Mark at Pittsford Painting and Home Improvement on a yearly basis to go over what I need to do to maintain my home for many years to come.  When I walked around my house and saw all that they had accomplished, it actually brought tears to my eyes.  It renewed my pride in ownership and I felt that I had finally found a company that would help me make my house the best it can be for years to come.

Pittsford Painting did a great job. I had a list of over 17 items to fix/paint and all were done to my satisfaction. They paid great attention to detail and made sure I was satisfied before they left.
