It went really well. Pete worked with me and the suppliers, made welcome suggestions and recommendations, and did what he said he would do when he said he would do it. The cost was as proposed. The quality of the work is excellent. My bathroom looks beautiful. I plan to hire Pete to remodel the one remaining bathroom in my house that has not been remodeled.
Description of Work: Complete remodeling of powder room, original to 1927 house.

We've worked with Peter for years, and he has always done excellent work for us. In this particular case, they worked in an around two other jobs going on at the same time to get my two rooms back to 'normal' in the shortest possible time. They stripped the wallpaper in a bedroom/ bath, and then painted all walls, trim and ceilings. And the ceiling twice cuz I changed my mind on the color. I will have Peter and Co work in our home at any time!!!
Description of Work: Removed wallpaper and painted, did minor carpentry in two bedrooms.

My wife and I are thrilled with the outcome of the project. Pete was in tune to our desires and needs, and came through 100%. He always kept the work area closed off from the rest of the house and was careful about clean up. He often worked Saturdays to ensure timely completion of the project. Pete displayed thoughtful attention to detail, and readily admitted when he was out of his "comfort zone" in terms of work that we needed to outsource (eg installation of the glass door).
Description of Work: Pete did a complete renovation of the main bathroom on the second floor of our c. 1915 house on Canterbury Road. This included tearing out and replacing the existing wall tile (down to the studs), extending wall tile to enable installation of a shower and glass door on the existing/original tub, replacing the toilet, replacing tile floor with era-appropriate tile, installing new ceiling fan/exhaust, and building/installing a new built-in corner cabinet.

Pete did some nice work in matching walls in this 1927 house, but during the course of construction he left a coffee cup on my antique sideboard which ruined the finish. He said he would have it repaired, but never did. This will be an expense and major aggravation to get repaired. His crew left cups and detritus (cigarette butts etc) on my porch and in the front garden behind bushes. He did not do the plumbing and electrical (other reviews of these will be coming). As is the case with most renovations of this kind, the house provided some surprises that had to be addressed and required flexibility on the part of the contractors. Some met this challenge better than others. Soule and his subs were fairly good about this, but had trouble toward the end of the job and basically left it unfinished even though they had been paid. (my error) He did not complete the punch list for the job despite many many requests. One wall of baseboard was not reinstalled and hole in the wall was not patched after the electrician (Ben Clement) removed these to do some work and did not replace or repair himself. There were a number of small things not done which proved annoying and time consuming to remedy. I would use him again under more controlled circumstances.
Description of Work: Update: The scope of work included demolition, hauling, creating rough openings, drywall, trim including matching existing trim, and renovation problem solving. The job began in May and was completed in September for a total clost of labor of about $20,000. The kitchen installation of new cabinets and appliances was not included, and the plumbing and electric and painting was contracted separately with others. I hired Soule initially to demolish a vent chimney from basement through the attic roof, and subsequently added a much larger scope of work to : take the kitchen down to the studs, create 2 new entrances to the kitchen including a new entryway configuration to the basement door, install new drywall, close up a doorway, and install saved trim to match existing in all new entrance ways. He also removed all bathroom fixtures and took one wall down to studs, re-set the tub, built some storage shelves where the vent chimney had been, tiled the walls and floor with materials I paid for. Upstairs he created an entrance in the plaster wall between two bedrooms, removed some flooring to create a new bathroom, constructed two end walls and one stub walls in this area (5x9) and installed 2 ft tiles on the floor and created and tiled a 5 foot shower with materials I paid for. He put up new drywall ceilings in two bedrooms with simple crown molding.

I thought he was a great person to work with. He does good work. He was able to come back and fix something that hadn't gone quiet right. He was very responsive to feedback. The price was reasonable.
Description of Work: I used Pete Soule Custom Carpentry & Remodeling. He did the windows and the roof.

The work was done within days of the estimate. The crew was conscientious, helpful and friendly. Pete was on site most of the time. The job went very smoothly. iI am now preparing to remodel the bath and have asked Pete to bid that job as well. I will also ask for a bid on framing and trimming a number of wall openings which will now become doorways. See update for final evaluation. Unfinished punch list, damage to my furniture, which was never repaired as promised, and complete non-responsiveness to these issues at the end of the project drops my score to a C. I had to bring in another contractor to finish these at additional cost.
Description of Work: I engaged Pete and his two man crew for the first phase of my renovation of a 1927 home by removing the chimney which served to vent the furnace and hot water heater. This chimney ran up from the basement through the attic in the center of the house and interfered with both my kitchen and bath remodel. Pete provided the lowest estimate for the work including insurance, provided for the removal of all the debris which included special arrangements for the masonry. He also demolished the entire small kitchen taking one wall down to the studs, tore out the ceilings and removed the remaining appliances. He also did some demo work in the bathroom, removing wall tiles and fixtures. He removed about 30 inches of wall in two other places to create doorways. All openings were left in rough framing. The project was complete in four and a half days.

The project moved along quickly and efficiently. While it was messy work, each day they cleaned up. All furniture, etc. was covered and protected. They always inquired about when it was convenient for us to have them arrive in the morning. Overall excellent communication and cooperation.
Description of Work: Pete and his crew removed wallpaper from plaster walls, many layers, and then prepared the walls and painted them in 9 different rooms and areas. House was built in 1912 - this required careful, tedious work and it was done beautifully. He was very knowledgeable about what type of paint to use under these conditions and advised us wisely about the trim paints as well.
