He is a general contractor. He does decks, he does flooring, he will do just about anything. He had a slow period and he was working on some inside work. This was just before Christmas and he said he would be here on the 22nd, and he was here at 8:00am on the 22nd, we tore the carpet up, put down underlayment, and he and the guy who was working with him put down the hard wood. It was Brazilian Cherry. As he was doing that, I was tearing down the carpet and laying the underlayment in the living room and he put red oak in the living room to match the dining room and the sun room. He did almost 300 sq feet in the family room, and about 200ft in the living room. He is very detail oriented, showed up when he said he would, he worked straight from 8am to about 4:30, and cleaned up after himself, which was amazing because you have to spend 2 hours vacuuming after most carpenters leave. When he was cutting the shoe molding up in the family room, he would cut it and he would look at it, and it looked perfect to me, but he was outside filing and all, and he said if it can't fit, it is not good enough. I am thinking of having him redo my deck rail. He seems like a nice enough guy, and the young fellow he brought with him, had 15 years experience laying floors, and he was sharp too. The price was fair, and generally speaking they get $6 to install, and he did it at just over $4. They showed up the morning of Christmas eve for 4 hours to finish up because they didn't want to leave me with an unfinished product over the holidays.
Description of Work: I used Jim Penna. I had him put in hard wood flooring in my living room and also my family room. I supplied material and he did the installation.
