Went as expected. Steve and his crew communicated with the tenant, performed all aspects of the job and provided after pics. Steve is always great to provide estimates, is competitively prices and performs quality work. We use him for service on rental properties at least 10 times per year.

We had leaks in the roof in two places. We got 3 opinions about what to
do, and estimates from three companies. We liked Steven's approach -
beginning with a small repair first rather than replacing the roof!
One leak is fixed, and the other still leaks a little. We knew this was a
possibility and we will call him to come over again and work on the
remaining spot again. He may use a more elaborate method this time.
We think that this approach is entirely ethical, practical, and it is just
what we wanted. One company told us that we needed an entire roof with
tear-off. We are convinced that's not true.
He arrives on time for estimates and also to do the work.
We recommend Steven without any reservations! We were so lucky to find him.

We were satisfied; it went well. There were some minor issues but they came back, addressed them and did not take any payment until we were satisfied. They were definitely not the cheapest but I will use them again in the future.

They recommended a major repair, as did 2 other contractors, re-shingling a third to a half of the roof. I got widely divergent appraisals of the condition of the 10 year old shingles - I think the NorthStar guy said they were "mint". I think he said they have 6 or 7 crews working all the time. They could also insulate (cellulose). The estimator focused on the valley, when the problem was actually the cricket, behind the chimney. I went with Yorkstate, who recommended cheaper smaller repair ($650 vs $2300).

The work was completed over 2-3 days time. The finished product looks wonderful and we have had no problems with leaks or wind damage. They were able to come down in price significantly to beat competitors' bids. The company contacts and serviceman tended to be tardy in meeting pre-arranged appointment times. The primary contact was knowledgeable, friendly, not-pushy, and went out of his way to reassure us.

Their workmanship was fair. Their followup is good and they return phone calls. I needed some things redone, but they would only partially fix the things on the list. I felt the price was reasonable. The workers are average. I am still waiting for followup.

Northstar was among the fastest companies because they have a team of 10-12 workers on the roof. Didn't like that they send a sales rep. to discuss price and that I sometimes did not know who was foreman of the work (since they were running several projects at once). Spanish-speaking customers will do better during the job, since some of the promised materials were not being installed and we communicated with workers on roof to get the right materials on--a function of miscommunication between sales guy and the workmen. Friendly workers. Concerned that they put two teams on the house (front and back). Front was done in a day and back took at least three because they put fewer men on the back. Would recommend to company to even out the work. Clean up was good, but we are still finding nails, asked company to come back to clean up, which they did. Note: Be ready to bargain, their sales people try to get a commitment the day they quote. Have a few other quotes to compare.
