Disaster!  "Fly-by-night" fast talkers.  Shame on me for falling for the "If you pay me cash, I will take care of you".  Did not perform as promised.  Rude, unprofessional and not trustowrthy.  I hired them over another lower priced roofer, because I was repeatedly promised the job would be completed in one day.  Very realistic for 16 sq foot total 2 roof surface colonial.  I wanted to cancel the job under the 3 day clause, had a bad feeling from the start.  Was "talked back into it",  promised the job would be done in one day and "everything would be perfect"...  Was told both owners would be on the roof with a crew to make this happen.  Only one of the owners (John Dibble) showed and 3 workers.  He told me they would "rock and roll" and be done about 3pm.  This was at 7:30 AM.  At 11:30 AM the upper roof was completed.  I heard vehicles leaving, asssumed they were headed out to lunch.  John knocked on my door and said they were taking off for the day and would return in the morning.  WHAT! No apology, no explaination.  Mumbled about "an upset customer on Edgewood".  The crew had disappeared.  I went out with John to look at the work.  The top roof was completed.  I pointed out my dissatisfaction with the workmanship and appearance on the top left ridge vent and roof line.  It looks distorted and uneven.  Very noticable from the ground.  I had to pick up excess debris as well as cigarette butts.  Their van leaked oil on my 2 year old driveway.  I thought I would be kind enough to fill a cooler with water bottles.  I noticed at 11AM it was empty so I refilled it thinking they would be working all day.  Yet when they left at 11:30 it had been emptied. Guess they need to load up for the road.  The IKO company they purchased the shingles from has very bad reviews for both their products and customer service regarding warranty claims by homeowners.  In fact, there is currently a class action suit against them.  Does not matter how good the initial warranty is if the company makes it impossible to get a claim processed.  Northface website claims they use GAF shingles not IKO's. I went to the business address listed on the contract.  No sign or indication they even existed.  Looked like an apartment building.  Was told by a town worker is was illegal to run a business out of that particular property.  Need I say more.  I understand things "come up" for contractors and they can not always perform as scheduled.  An apology and explaination is all that is expected, along with professionalism and good workmanship.  This company has none of the above.I fired them half way through the job.  They took all the remaining supplies I purchased.  John had asked me to make the deposit ($2250.00) out to him personally and not the company.  They refused to reimburse me for anything.  Complete job was quoted at $4500.00.
