We received an estimate from Muscate in addition to a number of other contractors, including some with showrooms. While initially concerned about not having a one stop showroom to choose finishes and styles, we came to the realization that we already had a very good sense of the layout we wanted, style and colors we were looking for making the showroom experience less of an issue.
Additionally, we would find that Muscate has very good working relationships with design consultants at different general and specialty retailers, who were very helpful in choosing cabinets, tiles etc.
There were some bumps in the road, as one should expect with any project of this size. Surprise location of furnace chimney in a wall we intended to remove, vent pipe not connected to anything (a remnant of a previous renovation two decades ago), and a homeowner mistake (me) in appliance selection which necessitated some very creative (and well executed) custom work. The key however was how easy they were to work with as these issues arose.
This was a full renovation down to the studs and sub-flooring.
We could not be more pleased with the final result. Our kitchen is beautiful, and very functional. Only problem now is it clear that the rest of our home could use some updated. When the time comes we will be calling on Muscate for help again!
