My 99+ year old mother called Mr Rooter and explained the problem. They sent a service man out and he determined that the bathroom sink needed to be snaked. Total time on the job about 30 minutes. Charged her almost $500 AFTER a $44 "senior discount". Total rip off. Will NEVER contact them again for anything.

Inexperienced plumbers and shady business practices. I had a blocked gutter drain, full of mud and dirt and gunk. The plumber came out to look at it and worked at it for a few hours. I suggested a drain snake wasn't the right tool for the job, but hey, he's the plumber. Spend a couple hours with the snake to no avail, and tells me my pipe is "99.99%" broken, which is why there's so much mud and dirt in the pipe. I told him that the mud and dirt is from the gutters and being a ground level exterior open pipe for the last 10 years. Didn't believe me. Tried to prove the pipe was broken with a camera, but all he could see was the blocked pipe (duh). He tried with a bladder and shop vac for like 30 minutes, reiterated that the pipe was broken, advised against hydrojetting because that wouldn't help a broken pipe, and charged me $450 for the pleasure. Wanted to tack on an extra $40 "fuel fee" that the booking person on the phone conveniently forgot to tell me about. I got the pipe open myself after another 30 minutes of work with a bladder I bought from Harbor Freight. Pipe is clearly not broken. Sent a manager out a few days later after I complained trying to "prove" the pipe was broken or see if I was lying about it being cleared. Once it became apparent that I was right about absolutely everything, he said he'd talk to the owner about a 50% refund. Also told me that everybody else charges a sneaky fuel fee, but at least they're upfront about it (hah!). I told him that the guarantee on the website is very clear and I am owed a refund for their incompetence. We'll see if they're willing to honor their pledge. Will update if anything changes. Definitely avoid this business.

He first tried something simple to see if he could save me money, which I appreciated. He got the job done in good time and gave me some pointers.

I called them out to take a look at our kitchen sink. When they arrived I explained what issues we were having and the technician said it would be an easy fix and should only take about 20 minutes. I asked how much and he told me it would be $391.00. I told him that I thought that was exorbitant and he said that I don't set the prices; I just go by what our system says. I called the office and asked for a manager and explained the same thing to him. He even seemed surprised by the price but then he asked someone else and they confirmed the same price. I explained to him that I thought the price was way too high for 20-30 minutes of work. He then asked me how I know it will only take that long. I explained to him that even I knew it was only a clogged drain and that his technician told me that's how long it would take. The manager then allegedly called the technician but could not get a hold of him. He then proceeded to tell me that they factor in the average price for jobs based on regional information. I told him I completely understand that but the price was still too high. He then told me that if the work only took 20-30 minutes then he would discount the job. Twenty seven minutes later the technician was done and requested payment. I informed him that he needed to call the office and he asked "for what". I told him that they said they would be giving me a discount. The technician goes outside calls the office and comes back in to tell me I would not be getting a discount and I needed to pay the full amount now that the work was completed. I cannot believe I allowed these people to come in my house and steel from me like this. Their process is likened to a scam. It's designed to drive up their profitability. They use the free estimates to get into your house. Then they bank on the fact that they are the first ones to come out and they are standing in your home and can solve your problem, sometimes. Call anyone but these people. Everyone I have spoken to after the job says it’s a $200 job max.

First of all the guy who was gonna explain what they were gonna do was excellent.  I'd give him an A.  He told me that if I had another problem ... this guy was real good.  He had special tools and he said even if he had to dig another hole he wouldn't charge me the full price.  Another plumbing provider was hemming and hawing and saying they'd have to charge me $3,000 more.  This young guy, I can't say enough about him.  He was very good.  Even when he came to analyze the situation he didn't charge me anything, whereas another plumbing provider charged me $179 for a diagnosis.  They come in, and the two guys who did the job were very good.  They took care of everything.  I'd give them an A on everything.

Was told that everything would be redone as it was found. The paver sidewalk I just had put in. Now there is a cold patch where it starts to prevent a trip hazard from the pavers not being replaced properly. After first attempt to replace called and said not satisfied. That was when the cold patch was put in. This is NOT the way it was. Will not have them do any work for me again.

On July 4, of all days, I realized my downstairs toilet was running. I called Mr. Rooter since I could get a free estimate without being obligated to have the work done (definitely a plus in their favor). The service man came pretty much within the hour as promised (another plus) and was very polite and friendly (a plus). He took the lid off the tank, saw that water was running into the overflow tube, and told me the fill tube was shot and the entire insides needed replacing to the tune of $350 (including tax). I mentioned to him that I had recently had work done in the house and the main water had been turned on and off at least twice and I asked if it was possible that it just caused something to be unseated. "Nope, it all needs replacing." But since I had earlier realized that I could just shut off the water to the toilet and not use it (having a second toilet, fortunately), I decided to wait until Monday and get more estimates. Well, this morning (Sunday, 7/6), I thought to go online and see what I could find out about running toilets. I quickly found a five minute video that told me there might be some corrosive stuff blocking the fill tube shut off (sorry if my terminology isn't quite right). It showed me how to take the top off the fill tube and clean it out. I did what it said (what did I have to lose?), but didn't see anything. I wiped it off anyway and became even more convinced that the main water shutoff had caused the top to become unseated. I put it back on and, lo and behold, the toilet is no longer running. Had the service man listened to me and taken a look, just as I did (not even a five minute repair), that would have been the end of it and I would have had a lot of respect for him. I will mention that he did attempt to tighten a nut for me on my washing machine hose where I had a small leak, for no charge. That was very nice of him and even though he made the problem worse, he did a temporary repair and suggested that, on Monday, I call the contractor I'm working with.

Sump pump drainage to storm sewer was blocked in heavy rain.
Initially tried to open storm sewer with a rooter- provided only slight drainage.
Provided temporary drainage to main sewer.
Found blockage with camera and noted location on the surface with a signal detector.
Excavated lawn, located blockage, replaced a segment of pipe and provided a "clean out" on the lawn.
Reconnected sump pump to storm sewer.
The work was explicitly explained, and very carefully done. The lawn was restored with top soil, and was minimally damaged.
The workmen were particularly meticulous in their clean-up.

I had a problem with my toilet being plugged and a friend who is a contractor told me to call them. They came quickly and the young man was very professional and the work was done in a timely manner, but they were very expensive. He had to take up the toilet and pulled out a book and gave me a price of $400+. The toilet was an old one and he told me for him to put in a new one would be $75 more than to just fix it. It was old and having problems so I agreed. In the end with some extra things he recomended it came to almost $700

I had them repair a pipe that burst. I also had them install a water softener. They have 24 hour service. I called them at 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday night. They were to my house in about 30 minutes. He was very professional. He did the job in about an hour. He replaced it beautifully. He cleaned up after himself. I couldn't have asked for better service.

After having controlled with another plumbing company a beginning of a flood (sump pump), my gravity drain was inspected by one of their supervisors, and because of the time constraints, schedule for an appointment. The next day another person came and said they needed to open the concrete in the basement and exposed the pipes and see the storm, estimate of $1800, 50% in advance. They came 3 days later (weekend) around 45 minutes late, they tried re-open the drain with 2 different snakes and backup camera for about 5 hours. They told us the work needed to be from outside (for some reason there was not a check valve to work with) with excavation to the main iron check valve and replace it for $2000 more, and if wanted the clay piping going down the street to be removed and replace with PVC, total of $8300. They did it in 2 days, 8 feet deep, and around 80 feet long, around 7 feet wide. All the mess is covered with the same soil. Still there are like 15 feet not done from the town.

The last time MR. Rooter Plumbing came out the service was good, and the man who came out was well kept. I have had some shady plumbers from Mr. Rooter previously. As a member I had hoped for much lower prices.

I thought that the price for the work was a bit high. I did think that Mr Rooter was personable. They asked me to have my husband remove the tile from the bathroom because they couldn't do that and possibly damage the tile. Only after that would they come out.

"Member, I want to apologize for the slight inconvenience at the beginning of this job but I do hope that you will consider Mr. Rooter to help you out in the future. Sincerely, Your friends at Mr. Rooter Plumbing!"
